Globe rebrands and upgrades DSL speeds

A reader emailed today about the recent Globe rebranding and points me to their recent DSL package upgrades. Obviously, we’ve all noticed that every time the other ISP upgrades their offerings, the other responds with the same.

That’s healthy competition that benefits the consumers.


There are two sets of packages for Globe’s residential broadband offerings — one is data only and the other is data plus landline. Here’s the pricing and the bandwidth cap:

Plan 995 Data Only -> 1.5mbps
Plan 1995 Data Only -> 3.0mbps

Plan 995 with Landline -> 374kbps
Plan 1295 with Landline -> 1.0mbps
Plan 1995 with Landline -> 2.0mbps

However, for the data plan, their website indicates 1 and 2Mbps only.

There’s also the Php2,500 one-time installation fee. Each packages comes with the DSL modem, free email, and automatic Wi-Fi access at any WiZ hotspot (maximum 2 free hours per month for Plan 1995).

As for the rebranding, a couple their marketing people have told me it’s not just about their image and organizational structure but also the way they do customer service. The latter, we’ll have to find out ourselves.

yup, mas mura talaga...i use PLDT MyDSL before...my DSL speed was 512 pero umaabot sa 2500 binabayaran ko so i tried globe and used Globe Explore Silver, its an old plan with 700+kbps, i pay only 1,995...so mas mura talaga...tapos faster pa ang connection

now, with their new package, i will be using Plan 1995...problem lang pa is naka hold ako kc di pa daw kaya ng Globe ibigay ung ganung speed[2 - 3mbps]...not sure lang ako kung dito lang sa province namin or sa buong Pilipinas ganun ang problem....but they're telling me na baka this month ma-ok na...so excited na ako :)

ganda na kaya customer service ng globe.. kung iimprove pa nila to wala na talaga ako masasabi... sana lang mas maraming agents para hindi matagal ang antay sa phone.. pero pagsinabi nilang pupuntahan ka nila, in 2 days anjan na sila. sabi kasi yung 1st 24hrs check nila server side or yung lines... anyway, been with globe for almost 2 years... looks like we'll be together for another 1. :D

im one of the satisfied globe broadband users and i agree.. mabilis talaga ang speed... :thumbsup:

hmm.. just finished calling them up...

FYI na lang... I'm on freedom 768... that's the previous 995 (data only) sabi ko pa upgrade...

all you need to do daw is the FF:
1. Go to the nearest globelines center(bring valid ID)
2. Request ka ng change ng plan
3. pay your most recent bill

yun na... in 3 to 5 days daw i get 1.5mbps... ayus!

nag mura mura mura mura mura talaga ng globe. malas lang wala pa dito sa antipolo. digitel user here. ok naman. stable yun nga lang ang mahal. akalain mo 128kbps + landline is P1280 na. well wait till 1 year. baka cguro meron.

i take back what i said... kainis nga pala customer service dito sa globelines... dito ako megamall...

yung payment, mabilis... pero sa customer service uduran ng bagal! buti na lang may net at phone dito!!!

funny you should say thay because customer service just called me to inquire if nagkakaproblem ako sa connection :clap: one thing i like about them is once mag report ka, may action kaagad...if only they could fix their package plans faster...baka daw next month pa maging available ung desired speed ko :weep:

anyway, additonal information na i got after waiting 1.5hrs:

yung 1.5mbps ay availabale pa lang sa Cainta at QC. hindi pa available sa Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Marikina at Makati yung 1.5mbps
The reason is franchise daw kasi yung mga connections na to, at hindi pa approved yung application ng franchisee.

Good thing was though, yung customer care rep na naghandle sa akin sa megamall helped me complain to the call center na mali yung info na bigay nila sa akin. dapat kasi iniinform nila sa mga tao kung available...

nakakaasar kaya maghintay dun! Buti na lang may net at phone.. hehe... kahit masasama na tingin ng ibang naghihintay wala akong pake sa kanila. :lol:

hihihi... 3 days ako walang internet waaaa... nagkaroon kasi ng problem ang globe sa area namin.. buti ngayon naayos na hihihi.. at back sa speed ang internet connection ko hihihi...

hmm... okey naman ang globe so far, kasi no surprise na extra bills yung 995 na monthly ko, yun nga ang binabayaran ko plus na yung extra calls na ginagawa ko, kaso lang minsan traffic, di ako maka connect pag sunday

buti p jan sa mga lugar nio madali dali ang globe installation...d2 inaabot ata ng 2 weeks eh kaya npilitan akong mag smartbro-ken kc nga ang tagal daw mag-install sv lng ng mga frend ko n globe user at sa ngaun daw eh mejo bumabagal ang net nila...

Balita ko wag lang kayo mag WiFi sa Globe. Di pa stable WiFi nila. So if you're gonna go for Globe, mag wired ka na lang.
