Update: The Dev-Team has just updated their blog in conjunction to MuscleNerd’s Ultrasn0w Demo (that’s what they are calling the 3.0 unlock)

* Only ultrasn0w is going to take til Friday to get pushed out. All of our other tools should be out pretty soon after the official Apple release.
* If you apply our jailbreak when it comes out, you can install ultrasn0w anytime after that. You obviously won’t have cell service in the meantime, though.
* This may in fact be directly applicable to the iPhone 3GS if it can be jailbroken, because it runs the same baseband version. Whether or not it can be jailbroken is a big question right now!

The Dev-Team Blog has just confirmed that they are in the finalizing stages of testing Pwnage Tool and Quickpwn that will work with iTunes 8.2.

In more anticipating news, they also announced that on Tuesday evening (just before 3.0 goes live), they will perform a live demo of the yellowsn0w carrier unlock working on official 3.0 firmware.

This is great news for all, as the image they provide shows the final 3.0 modem firmware (04.26.08) - basically sayings that all iPhone 3G’s are unlockable - even ones that have 5.9 Bootloader and 02.30.00+ modem firmware.

I would still recommend waiting on upgrading to 3.0 until the Dev-Team releases all information regarding the jailbreak and unlock.

iPhone 3.0 Preparation

So Apple released 3.0. I suggest you wait a few hours for a jailbreak (released anytime now) before you update. Here are a few facts about this update:

1) Apt backup probably will not work reliably. Some packages are not going to install on 3.0 and I do not know if it is graceful about failures.

2) If you don’t trust iTunes backup, you should use SCP or iPhoneBrowser and copy /var/mobile/Library/AddressBook to your computer. This contains your contacts. While you’re at it you may want to copy all these:

/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook - Contacts
/var/mobile/Library/Calendar - Your calendar
/var/mobile/Library/Notes - your notes database
/var/mobile/Library/Safari - your bookmarks and cookies
/var/mobile/Library/SMS - your text messages.

3) The jailbreak will be out soon. The unlock soon as well. If you require unlock you should wait for it before your update.

4) Some apps are still not ported to 3.0. Most apps will work. But some things that require some hacking to work will probably not work. Known issues (there may be more):

- Quickgold is replaced by spotlight, but spotlight wont launch hidden apps.
- BiteSMS, MySMS, iRealSMS are not yet updated (BiteSMS and iRealSMS are due to be released anytime though and could be ready by the time jailbreak comes).
- Backgrounder - No development for 3.0 has started on this great app

5) You will need to be at iTunes 8.2 to update, and iTunes 8.2 will not allow you to revert to an older version.

6) Apps that don’t work will likely cause mobile substrate safe mode to trigger.

7) SBSettings, categories, bossprefs, docs, and all my other apps have been ported and tested on 3.0 b5 and should be ready to go on a proper jailbreak.

8) You should have a pwnage and quickpwn type tool updated for iPhone 3.0. The instructions and usage will be the same. I will update my guides when these tools are released.

9) If you have hidden any apps using poof, sbsettings, bossprefs or such, you should unhide them all prior to updating to avoid issues. Go to settings, enable restrictions, enter a password, then disable restrictions. That should unhide all apps you care about making you update worthy in one easy step.

10) Make sure you do not “update” to 3.0 but you “restore” to 3.0. An “update” will mean you lose all your space where your jailbreak apps were installed. The files will still be present but no longer available so you just out on the disk space. Restore solves this problem.

Updates will be posted here when jailbreak is released.

Are you sure that our fellas have already unlock his iphone using ultrasn0w? it's gonna be good news if it's true..... 'coz as far as i know the iphone DevTeam has not yet release it.. due to some jailbreak errors...... you can only unlock your 3giphone with firmware 3.0 if you have jailbrocken it,,,,,, there's no other way to run ultrasn0w on a non jailbrocken iphone... whatch out guys....

This ‘baseband’ is a tiny and unique independent computer system that runs inside your iPhone, it is separate to the main system that handles the applications (such as email and google maps) and it talks to the main part of the phone over an internal communications network. Think of it like a cable modem or other peripheral that is attached to your home PC that needs occasional updates. When a software update is released and presented to you within iTunes the baseband is sometimes updated (to fix bugs or add new features). The 3.0 update for the iPhone 3G contains such an update, so running the vanilla updater straight away with iTunes will reprogram and update the baseband."

SIM Free/SP Unlocked/Factory Unlocked iPhone 3G

This applies if you bought your iPhone 3G for $$$$$$$. This model of iPhone 3G doesn’t have an Service Provider lock (aka factory unlocked) and you are able to put any SIM card into the phone and get service. Your phone is already unlocked so you do not need to worry about baseband updates, simply upgrade to 3.0 using iTunes and then use PwnageTool to create an ipsw and then use this to jailbreak your phone.

iPhone 2G (1st Generation)

Use PwnageTool to do the magic and then restore with iTunes using your newly created .ipsw ‘nuff said, you don’t need to worry about anything, the baseband will be unlocked, the phone jailbroken.

iPod Touch 1G (Original iPod Touch)

Use PwnageTool to create a firmware image and restore with that .ipsw using iTunes.

iPod Touch 2G (New iPod Touch)

Sorry, no support at this time within PwnageTool, use Redsn0w for an earlier (pre 3.0) firmware release instead.

Here is the Update:

the Ultra Snow and quikpwn 3.0 are not yet been release..so my iphone is still lock but im now using 3.0..

I dont use Redsnow for jailbreak because having problem with the firmware that i downloaded that compatible with Redsnow everybody have same problem with the other site..some of them succesfull because they have the original SIM so that they can use the itune, but i dont have..so insted of using redsnow i use this custom firmware that i search from google here is the link its torrent http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5PFDE86N

after i download the custom firmware i restore my iphone using this firmware and its work and jailbrake my iphone 3g here is the screenshot:

Pwede ka nang mag upgrade ng Itune 8.2..But Dont updated your iphone 3g sa 8.2 itune..instead restore it using that Custom firmware..stock ako kagabi inabot na ko ng madaling araw bago ko na ayos ang iphone ko back to normal, but firmware 3.0 and its good..

Like i said if you want to update your iphone 3g use the firmware that i give..size ng firmware 234 mb..kapag 230 MB and size ng firmware with out cydia and icy installer yun..so must be 234 MB ang size ng firmware para kasama na ang cydia and icy no need to use redsnow..

and like I said kapag ang iphone 3g na ginagamit mo is unlock, at ayaw tanggapin ng iTune ang SIM mo DONT UPDATE OR TRY THIS GUIDE Stsay with the version that you have kasi hindi pa final ang 3.0 to jailbreak and unlock maybe a week pa bago pa ma final ng DEV-team ang QuickPwn 3.0 ang Ultra Snow, But you have MAC OS you can now update, kasi na release na ng DEV-Team ang pang MAC OS Pwnage 3.0.

Make Sure you already update your iphone/touch to firmware 3.0 ok

1.) open the RedSnow, Then Click Browse, Then Look for you firmware
2.) if the RedSnow Verified the Firmware then continue
3.) Check Cydia, If you using 1Gen iphone there is another check Box there "UNLOCK" so check also..Then TurnOFF you iphone/ipodtouch
3.) Before You click next button ready you self to memories the STEP to jailbreak
This is the guide: "if you already jailbreak your iphone using quickpwn same step in Red Snow"
HOLD POWER BUTTON IN 5 SECOND
HOLD POWER AND HOME BUTTON FOR 10 SECOND
RELEASE POWER BUTTON AND CONT HOLD THE HOME BUTTON FOR 30 Second
4.) If you got the Step, time to click next..
5.) and the jailbreak proceed..wait until your iphone/ipodtouch to reboot and your ready..

If you using 1 Gen iphone lock you are very lucky its unlock..
For Iphone 3G we have to wait for a week :cry:

Try this one..pag ka install mo n ng ultrasnow..off mo yung 3g mo, general>setting> network turn off 3g..then reboot mo iphone mo..pag hindi gumana try mo naman ito,
punta ka ng cydia, search, ultrasnow click mo yung modify then click re-install again then try it again dont forget to turn off your 3G ok..then reboot..kaya ko sinasabi itong intruction ko na ito kasi, yan ang ginawa ko..hind rin naman gumana sa akin sa isang install lang so try lang ulit..

sinubukan ko po i-jailbreak yung iphone 3g ko, na update ko po kac sya to 3.0... sinubukan ko gamitin yung redsnow 0.8 kaso di ko matapos nag huhung lang sya sa waiting to boot.....

patulong mga bosing kung paano ko sya ma i-jailbreak at kung paano ko sya ma unlock..
