View Full Version : ZTE broadband Deal
CivicSIR 26th Sep '07 Wed, 12:42 In your Opinion guys, what do you think of the Malicious ZTE Broadband Deal?
My opinion on this....I feel sorry for Juan Dela Cruz for shouldering all this expenses while the people is starving to death with no jobs..while the gov't making all this expenses to benefit others. Help your own people first than others....that's why people leaving the philippines for greenier pasteur to live a decent life....Wake up! If we have jobs in the phillipines do you think filipinos would leave? :guns: :gma:
hmx_ryan 26th Sep '07 Wed, 13:09 I agree with CivicSIR... I don't think that the government needed this new information infrastructure... There lots of Private Companies in the field of information with more advance in terms of technologies... Which they could use in such cause...
Instead of funding such Project, why don't they focus first on the Housing projects and expand the medical benefits of each filipino individual...
Or, pwede rin nila i-donate dito sa SB...heheheh... :D

CivicSIR 2nd Oct '07 Tue, 10:36 One down and more to go....I think Mr. Abalos need to do some explaining thing about this ZTE Deal....From what he had done today, it doesnt justified anything. He just put a clause on the topic, so he can avoid the senate for questioning about this malevolent deal. He such a good actor portraying his innocuous self infront of the people on TV, but who fooling him? The Filipino people? I dont think so dude! There is no credibility left on this person? What he needs to do is, Tell the Filipino people the truth and who's involve in this ZTE Deal... Just for the sake of your conscience, it will be a mistake in your life for not telling this to the people.... It will hunts you until you die!
rhodel29 2nd Oct '07 Tue, 21:34 malamang yung pagresigned ni abalos e parts of thier plans...di xa pwede pabayaan ni :gma:why? simply because he's the reason kung bakit my presidente tayong PEKE ngayon! gaya nga ng sinabi nya "daw" sa mga ZTE officials na sya ang pinakamataas na tao sa pilipins pag eleksyon!:kill: i also agree with senator santiago's statement na sa kikback lang sila nag aaway...kawawang Pilipino! ginagago sa Pilipinas! teka damay pala ko dun ah! hehehehe!

aiah_87 12th Feb '08 Tue, 17:59 What is the ZTE broadband deal?
The Zhong Xing Telecommunications Equipment Limited (ZTE) National Broadband Network Deal is a highly controversial, $329 million contract signed by the Philippine and Chinese governments, witnessed personally by President Arroyo, last April 2007 in China.
The NBN project was a proposal of the Dept of Transportations and Communications (DoTC), a plan which started way back in 2005, aiming to establish a internet broadband connection to local government units and government agencies nationwide.
Contract was lost
DoTC Sec. Leandro Mendoza signed the contract which was later reported “lost.” The National Bureau of Investigation suspected that it was stolen. The DoTC then “reconstituted” the contract, which ZTE and Mendoza signed late May 2007.
Supreme Court TRO
The Supreme Court has already issued a Temporary Restraining Order on the implementation of the contract last Sept 11, acting on a petition by Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico saying that the contract violated existing laws requiring proper bidding and transparency.
Why is the deal controversial? What is the involvement of First Gentleman Mike Arroyo and the Arroyo family?
Jose “Joey” De Venecia III, son of House Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr., which is a known ally of the administration, divulged his knowledge of the huge overpricing and kickbacks involved in the deal in an affidavit, and afterwards, in a Senate inquiry. Joey De Venecia is the owner of Amsterdam Holdings Inc. (AHI), which lost the bid for the NBN project to ZTE.
Among other things, his testimony and other reports divulge the following:
Project hugely overpriced
The project was overpriced by about $130M (P6 B) in its first proposal and the current contract for implementation by about $89M (P4 B), which will be loaned by the RP gov’t to China with interest.
“Powerful person” Abalos was the broker
COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos brokered the deal as he was “golfing buddies” with some ZTE officials, something he did not deny. In return, he and “his cabal” was to get $130 M in kickback. Abalos also reportedly went to China several times, enjoying escapades paid for by the ZTE officials. He admitted having several trips to China.
Former NEDA Director Romulo Neri, was also bribed P200M by Abalos to endorse the contract, causing the former to reverse his earlier recommendations questioning the deal.
FGMA and gang terrorizes JDV3, tells him to “back off!”
As De Venecia further asserted on the merits of his proposal, he gets “terrorized” in a “reconciliatory” meeting by Abalos, Mendoza, four other men and First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
De Venecia said that FG Mike Arroyo, whom he initially called the “mystery man”, approached him in this meeting, and with a finger that was about “two inches from his nose,” told him to “back off.” Arroyo wanted De Venecia to leave the deal and stop meddling.
FGMA fled the country a day before the Senate hearing, raising suspicion that he was avoiding the scandal.
While JDV3 consistently asserts that the President had no hand in the deal, the Senate hearing established that President Arroyo knew of the deal and its onerous character but did not stop it and instead pushed for its implementation
what is your viewpoints on this guys since the issue is on going???

:kill: :gma:
Aristotle 16th Feb '08 Sat, 22:38 The ZTE-NBN project was cancelled kasi nagkabukuhan na. If not all of us will be paying for a project which was grossly overpriced. I think it is necessary for government interconnectivity but it can be carried out by our local communications company and there's no need for a foreign contractor. The problem it seemed was that one of the conditions of the Chinese government who was giving the loan was that a Chinese company should undertake the project.
Looking at the corruption charges nakapagtataka ang participation ni Abalos since it has nothing to do with Comelec. Why was he brokering for it and taking a huge $130 million commission was a big question? It was not proven but it seemed to be connected with the 2004 elections. As if by coincedence the Supreme Court allowed the airing of the Hello Garci tapes according to news reports today.
kenShu08 19th Feb '08 Tue, 19:12 Sobra na tlga to.... Nag kakatotoo na ung sinabi ni Pres. Manuel Quezon.. Our government is run like hell by filipinos... Ampotanes nmn tong bayan natin oh! madami nmang patriots.. ewan ko ba kung bakit kinakain nlng ng sistema tong gobyerno nten... Mg-weed nlng tyong lahat pra peace... wahehe! :upset:
"Kahit papano natutuwa akong me nakikita akong improvements in our place..(lots of it and a big boost to our province was made) kaya ok lang sa kin kesa dati na walang ginagawa ang gobyerno"
wahehehe...
tayung pinoy talaga mahihilig sa kick back ...in simple way ang tip sa isang service ay parang kickback na rin.... wahehhe...
saka isa pang nakikita ko ngayung panahon..tayong mga pinoy is very affected sa media...
from station wars to politics ..enjoy na enjoy talaga tayo pag ganito pinaguusapan..hehehe
aiah_87 20th Feb '08 Wed, 10:34 :kill: them all...
vandike 20th Feb '08 Wed, 10:48 :kill: them all...
ahahaha...
tama si arch.. corruption can't be removed, sa kung paanong paraan na lang nag-corrupt.. it's weird, better a day in marcos' , him and few high officials corrupt, nowadays pati ata tanod.. ahahahaha...
ahem ahem.. for me as long as the job's getting done, they can knock their socks off sa pag-"kick back"..
but since the the voting system let people shuffle up the team, sometimes bumabagal tuloy ang systema, projects on hold, mga batas na di natutupad..
:noidea:
archblue 24th Feb '08 Sun, 12:44 there is no cure in corruption issue ...kung si develnecia ba ang nanalo sa bidding..aabot ba to sa ganito? at lalong mas hindi halatang CORRUPT ang nangyari..waaaaa ..sour graping ang mga develnecia
aiah_87 24th Feb '08 Sun, 20:49 tsk!!! hindi naman tlaga mabubura ang corruption...but if we will raise the kids from new gen. by feeding them the ryt orientation, knowledge, skills and wear them the ryt attitude...yong tipong hindi individualistic... bka may konting pagbabago mangyayari sa bansa... :sigh:
archblue 24th Feb '08 Sun, 23:44 then i guess.. can we start the pagbabago within ourselves? hehehe ...if we cannot change ourselves pano pa kaya ang bansa natin..we are the bloods flowing in the nerves of our beloved country ...hehehe...nunti unti tayung nalalayo sa corruption..at sa topic na din..wahaha
rasta 24th Feb '08 Sun, 23:54 "A generation that loves God with all your heart and soul, and a generation that loves their neighbors the way they love themeselves is needed"..

bugged 25th Feb '08 Mon, 00:18 i know your grievances.. ako din minsan napapagod na sa mga bangayan ng mga politiko.. minsan gusto ko na lang mag 'move on' sa mga bagay na to katulad ng iba.. pero naiisip ko rin.. saan tayo papunta kung magmomove on tayo? sa isang lipunan na tanggap na ang injustice, corruption and all those blatant lies they slap on our faces? sabi nila mali daw na kalabanin ang gobyerno dahil babagsak lang ang ekonomiya.. sheesh.. ayoko ng ganitong lipunan.. if what i'm doing is wrong, then i don't wanna be right..
siguro nga ang crusade laban sa corruption ay di matatapos.. but i'd like to share with you guys these words from john kennedy
All this will not be finished in the first 100 days.
Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet.
But let us begin.
God bless us all..:)
archblue 25th Feb '08 Mon, 18:23 nosebleeds ...hehehe... :wow:
anu na kaya nagyayari sa edsa
silver_surfer 27th Feb '08 Wed, 08:06 maniniwala ba kayo na yung 500,000 na pinahiram daw ni Manny Gaite kay Lozada ang personal na pera niya?
take note hindi sila gaano magkakilala at walang tinext si Lozadakung magkano yung pera hinihingi tapos papahiramin
mo ng ganong kalaking pera tapos ang receipt masydong vague samantalang abugado siya.. tsk tsk... hirap talaga mag sinungaling ano ha....
aiah_87 27th Feb '08 Wed, 09:20 the struggle of the people is really continious... kaya UNFINISHED REBELLION nga ang tawag ni andres jan because everywhere we go there are always conflicts among the people...weder we like it or dont... antagonist and protagonist will really exist on every pages of the story...just like wats happening today... sino kaya sa knila ang prota and anta :giggle:
CivicSIR 2nd Apr '08 Wed, 07:16 I have read all the comment here on this post, but nothing really assure us of what will going to happen? My opinion is that no matter what the people do, to over threw this arroyo gov't is not going to be successful, i have seen this so many times. I assure of you that there will be a white wash going to happen every time a scandal is bring'd up. She's like a leech that suck the blood of its fellow filipino people, for her to hang on that power. Just look at what happen to the issue evolve her gov't. The hello garci scandal, the joc joc bolante agri fund scam, the jose pidal and now this ZTE. what more? they do diversionary tactics to allow the people to be missed lead to the main issue by covering there tracks by adding another issue to the situation. That how Arroyo's Gov't works. But as a filipino who does love the country, i see no changes happening in this situation.. Much more i say, it just a scenario of how this world is corrupt and full of idealistic power grabbing politicians. I wish changes do happen, but when? I guess when Juan De La Cruz is suffering to much...
