Make your brushes follow the flow, not the other way around.

Use brushes relevant to your image's theme. If you're gonna have a dark theme, try grunge or similar brushes. If you're going "techno", try vector.

Have variations in color. You certainly don't want to make your image look analogous, which doesn't look good. If some of you think this is right, it's not. Analogous in color means that there's not much variation in color. Try different but similar/complimenting colors.

For example, red goes with green, yellow with blue, etc.

Try to make it so you're emphasizing depth as well.

Lasso Tools (Polygonal/Regular/Magnetic)

Pros:
-Much easier to use. (just point, click and drag)
-Great for quick rendering jobs.
-Works nice with single color backgrounds. (especially plain white backdrops)

Cons:
-Not exactly that accurate. (Semi-transparent pixels artifacts are sometimes found, even with Feather set to 0)
-You'll have to hold that mouse button as long as the tracing isn't done. You pretty much can't Alt+Tab midway.
-Not good for complex backgrounds.
-Don't try doing this with larger images.
-Overall not very efficient to use.

Quick Mask Mode

Pros:
-You can take your time. You can Alt+Tab anytime, but not close the image.
-The original image is easily safe. It's like your practicing erasing the backdrop before the actual thing.
-You can easily see parts you've "erased".
-Easy to master.

Cons:
-Too slow to use. Not very efficient. Takes lots of time.
-You still can't quit halfway through.
-Like the Lasso tool, it's not good for complex images, large images, and sometimes leaves artifacts.

Pen Tool

Pros:
-Very efficient to use. Trims down to the last opaque pixel.
-Great for any size image, and any background that image may be in.
-You can easily take a break anytime you want.
-You don't have to hold your darn mouse button for so long. You just have to set the anchor points yourself.
-You can finish rendering medium-size images in 15-45 minutes, depending on your mastery of the tool.

Cons:
-You're the one who'll have to make sure the trace is accurate. You'll have to make the arcs and anchors in the path.
-Takes lots of practice to get used to.
-Seems intimidating to use at first.

Magic Eraser Tool

Pros:
-Great for single-colored backgrounds.
-Useful for small images, as well as large ones.
-You can be done in 5 seconds.

Cons:
-Leaves lots of artifacts/stray pixels.
-Renders don't look very professional.
-Accurate enough for simple backgrounds, but definitely not for complex ones.
-Least efficient of all the tools.

maganda mga works mo bro pero lack lang ng depth ung iba [kakabasa ko lang ng tut about depth ahihih :lol: ] flat kasi ung work... di masyado klaro kung anu ung gusto mo bigyan ng emphasis...

Hi here is my first tut for you making signatures using grunge
Matierals Needed:

1) Photoshop.

2) sampung mga daliri

3) Some descent custom grunge and fractal brushes. You can get these brushes from www.deviantart.com

Two ways:

No. 1

Create a new layer on top of all layers.
Select a small sqaure brush from the Square Brushes set. Something around 3-5 px. Depends on how thick the border you want is.
Hold down the Shift Key to constrain straight angles in your brush stroke, then brush around the image. (i.e., you hold shift and brush around the edges of the layer)
Optional: Add a layer style to it, like stroke or embosses.


No. 2

Create a new layer on top of all layers.
Go to Image > Apply Image
Leave settings at default and press OK.
Create a new document that is around 3-5px bigger than your original image (i.e., 305x105 if you made a 300x100 image)
Copy the applied image layer to this new document.
You should now have a new layer there with your applied image.
Adjust its position until it is centered.
On the background fill it with black or some other border color.


ano po ba yung feather?

Feather is a setting for smoothing tools like Paint Bucket or the Marquee. Notice if you increase the feather while using the Marquee Tool, the rectangle's corners become more smooth and radial.
