you need a plug-in for this. I use ColorWorks plug-in which I got from ipmart-forums. here's a link:

Just make multiple copies of the pic you've chosen then experiment. It also helps if you make the pic greyscale first then return to RGB just to set it to duotone, i.e. b&w.
