Japanese manga phenomenon Dragonball Ball Z is coming to the bigscreen, per Variety.

Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds) and James Marsters (Buffy, Angel) have joined the cast and will begin shooting later this month.

Chatwin, 25, will star as Goku, a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. He has already begun training with 87Eleven, the stunt performance company behind the action sequences in The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and 300.

Marsters, 45, is onboard as the film’s villain, demon king Piccolo.

Dragon Ball Z:The Movie is set for a worldwide Aug. 15 release.

It got him very angry, and he finds a way to escape and then tries to destroy the world. The cool thing is, anybody who has seen Dragonball knows that Lord Piccolo transforms into a character named Piccolo, and that is a whole other ball of wax. [...] Heroic wouldn't be the wrong term by the end, but it's a long journey." He also confirmed Piccolo will retain his physical appearance from the anime. Marsters is a fan of the television series, which he described as being "the coolest television cartoon in the last fifty thousand years [because] it’s got a Shakespearean sense of good and evil."[1] He admitted, "When I got the role I had doubts. The more I live with it I realize that I am going to rock this harder than I have anything in my life."[3]
* Jamie Chung as Chi-Chi: Goku's love interest.[4] Stephen Chow had been interested in casting Zhang Yuqi, whom he worked with on CJ7, in the part.[5]
* Emmy Rossum as Bulma: She aids Goku after her father's Dragonball is stolen by Piccolo.[6]
* Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi: Goku's mentor.[7]
* Joon Park as Yamcha.[8] James Kyson Lee auditioned for the role.[9]
* Eriko Tamura as Mai: She is a chief enforcer of Piccolo's and a shapeshifter.[8][10]
* Texas Battle has an unrevealed role.[11]
* Luis Arrieta as Teto: A classmate and friend of Goku. He is an original character created for the film.[12][13]
* Randall Duk Kim as Grandpa Gohan: The adoptive father and grandfather of Goku who teaches Goku everything he knows about martial arts.[14]
* Ernie Hudson will play an altar boy in a temple who will aid Goku and his friends

E2 na yung napakatagal kong inaantay na gawan nila na movie, at last meron na talaga. Dragon Ball the movie's release date sa US ay April 2009, di na ako makapag antay as in. I mean ang pina ka sikat na anime noon kahit ngayon ay may movie na I mean sino bang hindi makakakilala kay Son Goku ang bidang sobrang bait at sobrang lakas. Si Justin Chatwin daw yung gagnap na goku at kalaban niya ay si James Masters(as piccolo) di ba exciting di na ako makapag antay till kay freeza na movie. :excited:
