We've updated our Shout Box (SB) today. Changes and new functionalities are posted below.

Fixed timezone issue
Active Users (members using the SB in the last 3 mintues) are shown
Notice posted when user replies to a thread *DISABLED*
Notice posted when user creates a new thread *DISABLED*
/me - similar to an IRC command where shouts are posted preceded by your username. *DISABLED*
/ignore userid or username - Allows you to ignore any user in the shoutbox.
/unignore userid or username - Reverts actions processed by /ignore.
/pm username; message - Allows you to send private shouts to any user in the shoutbox.
Edit/Delete Own Shout Instantly - double-click your shout on the SB itself if you wish to edit or delete it.
Flood Control - Actively stop users from flooding the shoutbox by setting time restraints between shouts.
Real Time Control - Double click your shouts to quickly edit or delete messages.



NOTE:
Auto-refresh takes a lot of server load. So to prevent database error due to server overload, there's an Idle Timeout of 3 minutes. If you're not using the SB for more than 3 minutes, SB becomes idle and it wont be automatically refreshed or updated. You need to manually reload the page or post a shout.

-The IRC command /me has been re-enabled. To use this, type: /me [space] [message]

-There's a new button called 'Options (http://www.symbianize.com/infernoshout.php?do=options)'. Under the Options page a user can now set the following...

---Create own custom commands to quickly translate into something else, for instance, you could have:

---As opposed to the /ignore and /unignore commands, any user now has an optional interface to manage ignored users, quickly adding, managing and checking their ignored users settings.

---Users can now filter certain shouts from the shoutbox (BBCode, ,Private Messages, '/me' commands)


-Clicking the username will now create a new tab. In this tab you can quickly talk to the user in a private session, without having to type the PM command within the shoutbox anymore, and the ability to easily manage several chat sessions at once.


-The number of shouts displayed within the shoutbox has been increased.


-Shouts are set to automatically be removed from the shoutbox after 48 hours.


-By default, the shoutbox will be on idle mode unless you chose to use it. This means that only those who are really using the shoutbox will consume server resources. Anyone just browsing the index page where the shoutbox is deployed will not use any resources.

-Auto refresh is now every 3 seconds from previously set 5 seconds so shouts are almost real-time. And idle time is now 10 minutes. Those settings are under observation and subject to change if those processes place a heavy load on our server.



FAQ:
Q: After the shoutbox update, i can only see "loading....".
A: Logout. Clear your web browser cache or press SHIFT+reload page. Login and it should work fine now.
