why we says we are roman catholics??? are we romans??? dba may philippine independent church naman... why stick to roman catholics???

i think it's because that the catholic faith starts with the romans. dati din ako katoliko.

Before, it is not called Roman Catholics, but Christians. But when some members turn against their Faith, they started to build churches, and called it in different names [Protestants, Sects]. It is called Roman Catholic because it's Center is in Rome. Para din yan hindi ma-confuse kasi may Orthodox Catholics din. Thus, all other Christian Religions came or are based from One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

The Name 'Catholic'


The early church, as they accepted the primacy of Peter, they accepted the importance of the church in Rome. St. Paul wrote in Rom 1:8 "First of all, I give thanks to my God to Jesus Christ for all of you because your faith is heralded throughout the whole world." The original Greek word used here for 'Proclaimed throughout' is 'Kata;' with the adjective 'Holos' which means 'whole'. Thus, the word 'Catholic' comes from this original Greek text of the Bible which means the Universal Church.

Roman CAtholics and the orthodox cathilics or the orthodox church... we belong sa roman catholic, because dun teo nka base, dba ang pope natin, ndun sa rome... while in the other hand, ang orthodox catholics dun sa european side of the world nka base.. ndi sa rome.. nagkahiwalay yan cla dahil sa mga issue2 din about sa catholic church...

i had a fren ne member ng aglipayan church.. iba tlaga teaching sa knila... more on serving the people... kasi daw when christ came here... he serve the ppol daw... thats why aglipayan church are soa active on social works...:thumbsup:

halos parehas lang aglipayan at katoliko..ang history ng aglipayan is kaya sila dati silang katoliko n humiwalay sa doon dahil hndi sila agree sa celebacy ng pari.. un lang un.. kaya ang mga katoliko ay pede ring magsimba sa aglipay

sa pag kakalam ko po... marami pa pong bagay at rason kaya sila humiwalay...
