I feel very much attached to this series compared to her Psy-Changelings (BTW, nakita niyo yung bagong covers? Yung half ng face with small lacerations sa mukha).

Nag-aalangan ako basahin yung Blood on Silk ni Marie Treanor :noidea:, kasi andami pa nakapila, am neck-up in a lake of books with no paddle.

i read Perfect Chemistry yesterday, and i finished it din last night! grabe, i could NOT put it down, suuuuper kilig...eeeeee, :blush: i read till late at night kagabi, and i swear my mind was sooo busy making up its own scenes while sleeping, so zombie na naman ako at the office today...:lol:

i especially love the Chemistry test part....hay, bad boys talaga naman, you know how to melt a girl's heart...:lol:
also, love love love the ending, the epilogue was soooo nice!...hihi ;) it made me forget about my dreaded Mondays...:)

i was rooting for Alex the entire time...

i was very happy with this story that i turned off my reader with a big, silly smile on face, i think i even squealed! :lol: i dont think i've ever squealed with delight after reading a book before :lol:, i only do this when i eat delicious delicious food...:D

so @diokdin, yeah its a kilig read alright, with a touch of dangerousness! :p

hi'ya guys.. i admit na nadistract nanaman ako ng contemporary. :dance:

This is a rave about KGI series by Maya Banks. The series was never what i expected. ;)

I read KGI series (again, because of the reviews sa goodreads).. and my insight: WORTH IT ang pagiging distracted ko :lol:. I read the first two books kahapon but i must admit, fave ko yung first book THE DARKEST HOUR. Perfect book for Second Chances... as in back-from-the-dead second chances. Eto and pinaka unang novel na mas love ko yung buong family kesa sa hero mismo. Grabe...its a book full of AWWWWW moments. Chaka mapapaisip ka talaga kung ano gagawin mo if isang loved one mo na akala mo patay na, eh buhay pa pala and you get to have a second chance with him/her.

spoiler I admire the resilience of their family, how they protect each other and how they love Rachel, the heroine. I am in love with their whole family.. how they helped Rachel adjust and how they kept on pulling her out of danger. The scene at the end wherein Rachel had to get away from her kidnappers was just.. awesome. She's a tough one, thats for sure. Its like watching a movie with all the good and right scenes. While reading this, i was thinking.. awww... i wanna belong to that family too! :cloud9: spoiler end

Nakaka in love din yung book 2 NO PLACE TO RUN pero mas action packed and kick ass yung heroine. :)

Action packed eto chaka for me, ang ganda ng plot. Must read for action-romance lovers :)

(I'm assuming you won't read the book, hehe, so spoilers ahoy!

Hehe, but I'm sure you'll check it out... you won't be able to help yourself! :evillol:)

A few pages into the book, I kept thinking how it looks to be a promising read, but when the h/H had their first interaction. Aaargh. My respect for the heroine plummeted. [SPOILER] Curse your hormones girl! She gets super horny after exploring a crypt and getting bitten by an unknown creature whose ultimate goal is to drain her dry to get his optimum power because she Awakened him. WTH?

I never really liked heroines who give the honey to the bear so easily if this trait doesn't exactly fit with what the author presents as her personality. There are times when being wanton works in a novel. This time it didn't.[END]

And another Too Stupid To Live scene: (This occurred after the heroine was attacked by another vampire and saved by the Hero [whom she thinks of as a prankster and not really a vampire] who wants to dally with and dine on HER.) [SPOILER] She shoos away the vampire hunters, who helped her, out of her hotel room!!! Insisting adamantly that she be left alone with only a vampire DETECTOR to accompany her!? And what is the reason for this harder than rock decision? ->"It seemed that her habitual solitude, which sometimes depressed her with loneliness, had become necessary to her. Soon, she wouldn’t be able to form any kind of relationship with anybody, let alone a live-in, lasting one of lifelong love and respect. Which she’d given up on anyhow after her last disastrous and ultimately humiliating romantic experience." Hmm, I guess if you wanna die, might as well do it in solitude. I don't see how she's able to reflect on her relationship issues when there are vamp death threats coming from left to right, and an actual attempt on her life a few hours before.[END] I almost threw my K3 in irritation.

I liked the cover and history parts in the book, esp. Saloman's (What kind of funky vampire name is that?) death and the story behind being Awakened. And how the hero dances between being good/evil. Plus, the :naughty: scenes were written quite nice. Oh, and I think the vamp hunters deserve a standing ovation for putting up with the heroine - esp. Mihaela (no, I'm not missing/forgetting any letter, that's how her name is spelled), and Saloman's bizotch Dmitriu (the wimpiest supporting vampire hero I've ever had the misfortune to read about) who remained quite loyal (even though the hero continuously threatens his peaceful Earth with plans of world domination).

And so the book ends with a pretentious big fight with zombies doing a cameo, and Buffy-esque moves on the heroine's part. Alas, we get a surprise :excited:! The h/H did the deed on the battlefield and afterwards proceeded to the exit to continue their 'dalliance'. Oops, with the promise of --

She slid both arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest. She closed her eyes against the pain. “Then after tonight, we’re enemies again. It will be over.” Ugly words, ugly emotions among this sweetness that she should never have allowed, yet couldn’t regret. She felt his lips in her hair, and her throat constricted. If she wept, he’d feel the tears on his chest.
“Make the most of what we have,” he said in her ear, and she could have sworn his voice ached as hers did. “There are many hours until morning. But Elizabeth . . .”
She gave in to the insistence of his fingers and lifted her head. His beauty was blurred, but she held on to the tears. He kissed her, his mouth moving over her lips like breath as his words sounded inside her head.
It will never be over.

@padrepio :welcome: nice to have a new voice around. Nabasa ko lang sa list mo eh yung Harry Potter series. Although, I read from the Ender's series to my nephew every time he asks. Where in the middle sa book two. Love na love nya to. I don't wanna finish it on my own since it's part of the fun yung nakikita ko enjoyment sa mukha niya.

Although I love romance novels better, I also love mysteries and thrillers (particularly legal thrillers) esp books by Dan Brown, John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, Lisa Scottoline. Recent discovery: Harlan Coben. I love his stories, but his writing not so much.

I remember my mother had some Victoria Holt novels and I attempted to read one in high school but never finished it. I guess my tastes that time run along the lines of sweet dreams and sweet valley high with the occassional mills and boon. I never picked up her books again. Ngayon naubos n collection ng mom ko. I only remembered when you mentioned it.

Ok I stop muna reading Guild Hunter series and read Perfect Chemistry instead. Wow, ang ganda! Hehe Kakakilig. I can't put it down. Sabi nga ng mama ko stop muna daw akong magbasa kasi kumakain kami. I was eating while reading kasi. LOL :lol: Can't help it, ang thrilling na sa story kasi. Weeeeeeeehhhh, kinikiliti pa din ako just thinking about the story. And I agree with all of you guys, I love the Epilogue, [spoiler] sana si yung anak may story of their own din. [end of spoiler]Now I'm currently reading the 2nd book Rules of Attraction.

It's nice that I can get info from fellow Pinays too. I get frustrated because I don't have a lot of friends who enjoy books as much as I do. I would have wanted to join this thread since it started but I was just too lazy to type so I just have been lurking for awhile now and enjoy your discussions and recs. :)

I enjoy books from Linda Howard, Suzanne Brockmann, Cindy Gerard, Pamela Clare, Roxanne St. Claire, Geralyn Dawson, Christy Reece, Christina Dodd, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Julie James, Kresley Cole, Jeaniene Frost, Gaelen Foley, Judith McNaught (my first ever romance book) and many more.

I enjoy Maya Banks' KGI series. I was the one who requested the book 2 and 3 here. Thanks to the uploaders diokdin and childishana. I don't read her erotica books though.

The main reason why I finally decided to write is the book "Perfect Chemistry" by Simone Elkeles. I just want to gush and share my excitement to someone who I know will appreciate the emotion. :excited:

Thank you guys for sharing your books and insights. If not for this forum, I would not have discovered such a gem of a book. I don't read YA but I am pleasantly surprised by "Perfect Chemistry". I read it last Sunday and I'm almost finished with "Rules of Attraction". I also saw the book trailer. Carlos is hot but Alex is hotter in the book and in the trailer.
The "Perfect Chemistry" sing and dance rap is kinda silly though. There is no way the characters in the book look like them. Have you watched it? Well ,I wish they'll make a movie out of this series. I couldnt care less with Twilight series (sorry fans, to each his own I guess) I can't wait for the last book. :dance:

@yche09: Mas maganda ang book kaysa sa movie. If may time ka, try mo basahin. Although, mas maganda kung simulan mo sa Book 1 kasi may mga characters and situations na mas maiintindihan mo kung nasimulan mo.

I love Nora Robert's romance books. Although onti palang ang nababasa ko. I recommend Summer Pleasures dahil ang poetic ng pagkakasulat niya. haha. Marami xang qoutable lines sa libro. :lmao:

Yung ibang authors na gusto ko ay narecommend na dito. So hindi ko na uulitin. Mabuti nalang talaga sinimulan ang thread na to.

Sa ngayon, Classics ang binabasa ko. haha. I love Pride and Prejudice at Jane Eyre. :clap: Kahit mahahaba yung books, ang ganda ng pagkakasulat.

I'm surprised nga kay Maya Banks kase I thought puro erotica lang ginagawa nya. i just tried yung first book ng series dahil it was described as Romantic Suspense which is one of my fave genres tapos ayun tuloy tuloy na. So looking forward sa book 4. I think it will be a long series since there are 7 Kelly brothers tapos 2 adopted kids and yung 2 team pa ng mercenaries that work for them which is like 4-5 characters each team. I hope it will not be boring and she will offer new plots and twists.

Yes, I noticed very famous ang name na Ethan as a hero sa romance books. Maybe because it's a masculine name? Pati nga Luke, Lucas, Caleb very familiar names. I can't find the link sa Amazon Forum discussing Ethan as hero's name sa romantic suspense genre. All three books are good.

And, I can't believe I'm saying it but even though I called Haden the epitome of perfection in my review (see my blog), he was nothing compared to Henry. But, then, they have somewhat different circumstances and I compared Haden with Edward Cullen. Henry is another matter.

And that also goes with the girl there, Kate.

What i love most about perfect chem is palaging may tumutulong na adult sa kanila. Parang pwede talagang mangyari in real life. Yung palaging may hope and may willing na tumulong sayo. Sa book 1 diba yung prof, and then sa book 2 yung dad ni Kiara, Its amazing. Yep, babasahin ko ulet yung series to take a brake from action-suspense romance genre :)

Haven't checked in in a couple of days and I already couldn't keep up.

Anyway, I've read the first KGI (Darkest Hour) by Maya Banks. I love stories about regrets and second chances and the book did not disappoint. It's just my kind of story. But it was exhausting. I felt for Rachel talaga. Maya is a great writer. She sucked me right into the story that I emphatize with Rachel so much I'm crying for and with her. I'm drained after reading it.
I recommend it but don't expect to be smiling after reading.

I'm supposed to read Delirium by Lauren Oliver since I enjoyed her other book Before I Fall and I've read that the heroine is like Katniss in Hunger Games. But then I found out that it's book 1 of a trilogy. That put me off right away. I've read so many book 1s of a trilogy this year. I don't wanna wait for another series. Pag matapos na sila saka ko babasahin. These stories could fit into one book but for some reason they gave it to us piecemeal. Parang soap opera. Some even have such cliffhanger endings preventing us from enjoying the book as a standalone. Okay. I'm ranting. But still. You know what I mean, right?

Kaya I'm reading the darkest power trilogy by Kelley Armstrong. I've enjoyed some of her books before. So I'm giving her first YA paranormal trilogy a shot. At least tapos n series na to. So far so good. Patapos na ako book 1. Adventure to which is right uop my alley now since I'm taking a break muna sa mga emotional na books after KGI 1.

I wish I could watch those videos ng perfect chem and rules of attraction. Kaso ang bagal inet connection dito. I have to refresh several times just to post my replies.

I put already put Play Dirty in my tbr. Baka sa Holy Week makabawi ako sa aking reading.

@yche, yup. Super nakakatuwa talaga kaya you still have your smile kahit tapos na yung book. And I agree with you na it could happened in real life. I think that's why it has such good ratings. It's also nakakakilig. And everyone wants to experience teenage life again kahit sa book lang yan. Dami din mga tao nagre-read ng YA books kahit malaki na age nila. Sabi nga for the young at heart.... LOL :lol:

@cat11, yeah...ang corny talaga yung rap di ko tinapos e-watch. It's just a waste of my time. And yes, I know na si SE ang nag make noon. LOL :lol:

I agree, Alex talaga much better than the Carlos but okay pa din yung 2nd book RoA kasi I can better relate with the heroine sa RoA than the pom2x girl in PC.

I read True North by Marie Force... 5/5 stars sya saken. It has all the right elements for me. Chaka breath of fresh air (for me) kasi first time ko makabasa ng book na yung heroine eh model.love it. :)

Hi! I still can't get over sa Perfect Chemistry. It's a very hard act to follow. I like it better than book 2 and based sa reviews a lot of readers prefer it than ROA din. Pero maganda din naman and story ni Carlos and you'll get a glimpse of Alex's and Britt's life din as a couple. :beat:

Yea, KGI book 1 is kind of heavy drama nga. I cried reading that. Book 2 is my favorite. I've done a reread immediately after finishing it. Crazy I know. :lol:

I totally get you about book series with same hero & heroine. You have to wait for months or year for the next installment. Plus the authors sometimes drag the story with silly plot lines & twists just to stretch the book until book 7 or so when they can tie it up nicely with just a stand alone or a trilogy. Well sometimes, it's our fans' fault for clamoring for more installment since we're so taken with the hero/heroine and can't get enough of them. ;) Now before I read series books, i make sure I have the next installment or complete series para hindi nakakabitin. :lol:

anyway, on Perfect Chem vs Rules of Attraction, i agree with you guys, mas like ko din ang PC :lol: pero i dont know, torn ako, may mga moments din kasi ang RoA, kasi PC is an intense read...1st meeting palang nila Alex and Brit, grabe sparks flying everywhere already...:lol: on the other hand RoA is kinda like slowly falling in love...they werent totally crazy bout each other agad, plus its a light read, maraming humor...kaya different talaga siya..

pero all in all, i fell more in love with Alex..hehe..mas gusto ko sya, mas kinilig din ako sa story nila, kasi it was parang against all odds ba, hehe..:lol:...and patay na patay talaga ko sa word na Mamacita na yan :lol: kainis...napapangiti talaga ako...:D

i started reading Leaving Paradise, im glad that the author's style is parang same parin, very familiar tuloy pakiramdam ko sa book...:)

"Mamacita" in literal term is "mommy" and the slang term is for "sweetie/love" or"gorgeous girl". Alex is so sweet talaga. Ako rin napapangiti. I'm crazy! Sana we can talk about our fave scenes from the book but i don't want to spoil it for the other readers. ;) Si Carlos naman he calls his girl "chica". I am excited for the next book too. I hope it'll be as good as PC.

Cindy Gerard is a good author. My fave form the Bodyguards series is Ethan/Darcy's book, I think it's book 3. =) I reread it numerous time as well. :lol:

I started reading Leaving Paradise, I'm halfway sa book. More serious and angsty than the PC series. The characters are three dimensional, full of character building which I like. Hope to finish the sequel Return to Paradise as well. :)

I realized na hindi ko pa pala talaga nabasa yung Midnight Breeds Series.. maybe tinignan ko lang yung umpisa dati at yung dulo but i never read it thoroughly.. so kanina, binasa ko talaga yung book 1 Kiss of Midnight.. uhm, i give it.. 4 stars.. not as good as IAD, LOTU, DEMONICA or GH, pero ok parin. Naalala ko yung Blackdagger brotherhood (love book 1 and 2).

Currently reading Fast Track Series book 1 (Flat-Out Sexy).. ugh.. would it be so bad na i'm feeling awkward? kasi 32 yung heroine while yung guy 25 years old. Haha, pati nga yung heroine super embarassed eh spoiler sabi nya after sleeping with the guy (pagkagising nila kinabukasan, dun nya lang nalaman age nung guy) .. "I'M A COUGAR!" /end of spoiler. So there, since i started to read it na.. might as well deal with it, see if i get over the awkwardness and finish the book. High naman yung ratings sa goodread so i'm counting on it. :)

about sa comment mo na 32 and 25 age, I don't have a problem with that. I think that's a great age gap nga. If you read nga historical romance eh yung guy is in his 40's and the girl just turn 18 or is just turn 20. So no biggy.

I realized din i don't care na din sa age gap nila (the 32 year old heroine and 25 year old hero of fast track series 1). First time ko lang kasi makabasa ng novel na ganun kalaki yung tanda ng girl sa boy. Pero what the heck, nakakakilig parin sila haha! so the age gap just blends in the background. Tinuloy ko yung book and so far... maganda ..kilig :cloud9:

for Nalini Singh go with Guild Hunter, at least 3 books pa lang ito ngayon. it is really quite different with the other paranormal series out there. while PsyC naman has its own charm rin.

hi! i finished reading perfect chem na! haha you guys are right @ zelle & diokdin kakakilig basahin. i cant stop my self smiling in some scenes lalo na yung scene where they first kiss. :giggle: may mga scenes na hate ko talaga si alex but as i read along it turned out na sweet din pala sya. :)it's really worth a read nga! thanks for the reco.

Just finished IAD, :dance: uber love it... I really love Malkolm and Carrow's story... Just can't stop drooling over :yummy: Malkolm :wub: i cried dun sa beach scene nila, felt the sorrow and sadness nilang dalawa...
And another thing i love about IAD is that KC gave each story their own characteristics, yet andun pa rin un essence as a whole... She also gave hints on what to expect sa next book...

Hindi ako nakatiis.. binasa ko na ang latest na libro ni Gena Showalter. Super fan ako ng Lords of the Underworld so i kinda expected na magagandahan ako sa The Darkest Secret. Ayun, hindi naman ako nabigo. I super duper love it! Sa past books naiintriga talaga ako kay Amun and kay Torin (yung parang alam ko na agad na magugustuhan ko mga books nila :lol:) I knew it! i love Amun now.. :yipee: Tie na sila ni Sabin as my fave LOTU hero. :)

Hiya friends! Grabe, I missed this thread so much, esp. you guys! :weep: Ngayon lang ako nagka-free time. But I did FINALLY finish Perfect Chemistry (nakakatawa, medyo may cheesy parts lang yung dulong part, loved the epilogue though) and Rules of Attraction. Eep! 5/5 for both!

Checked out the video link diokdin provided, isn't Alex on the first link, the guy (aka Patrick Verona) on 10 Things I Hate About You TV series? Carlos on the 2nd link needs improvement, but it was nice to see the vids though. Am looking forward to the 3rd book! :dance:

thoughts: Some may say na biased ang rating ko since i superduper liked Demonica Series. Pero ganun talaga. I loved it. This is one case of "if-you-like-demonica-read-this". I knew i would love Eternal Rider kahit hindi ko pa nabasa. I couldn't put it down when i started reading it. Ares/War is one hell of a sexy stubborn hero, i'm so happy that he's partnered with a defiant heroine. Almost all of the past characters in Demonica Series is included in this novel kaya mejo namiss ko sila. I'm so glad i got some glimpse kung ano nang nangyari sa kanila. Connected talaga sya sa Demonica pero its entirely different. Horsemen are wayyy powerful and mas madaming tricks and history involved since they're thousands of years old. The book is also full of action so i didn't get bored in any way. Made me wish i have a hellhound for my self. :lol:

Love it. And yesyesyes, I recommend it! :thumbsup:

after reading the 3 books of Fast Track Series, i must say book 1 (Flat-Out Sexy) is still my favorite. Book 3 (Hot Finish) for me, is not as good as books 1 and 2 (maybe because i had too much expectation with regards Ryder and Suzanne due to their constant presence and banters on the first and second book) but still worth the time. :) Looking forward to book 4! The Chase :excited:

anyways...i finished reading Leaving Paradise, urm, well i didnt go crazy over it like i did in PC, but i still like it...no regrets of reading it on my part...:) tapos...since series sya on same characters...medyo too long ang build-up nya...the middle part is where it all gets good...:) its a different kind of story than PC so i cant really compare...maybe if i read this 1st than PC i'll like it better than i do now...i'm on Return to Paradise now, but hindi ako nagmamadali...:p

i'm not saying that its not good, i reaaaally love it din...it shows that there's always two sides to every story...and there's still this adults helping element... i love the adorable adorable old lady...:p

plus distracted kasi ako sa fanfiction i was reading...i got it from our pinakamamahal na section...its called She's Dating the Gangster...grabe roller-coaster ride sya for me...nainis, kinilig, nalungkot ako sa story na 'to...i almost gave up reading this kasi i was very frustrated na sa story, hindi ko na sya gets...(maybe teens nowadays are like this, hay ganon naba ko katanda? :ohno:), but i just couldnt let go of the story, i wanted to know what'll happen to them and kept thinking about it...so there i finished it...naku kakaiyak! Endless Love, A Walk to Remember-ish kind of story...halos di ko na mabasa yung words dahil umiiyak talaga 'ko! hay grabe sobrang keso man pero nakakalungkot talaga!...:kainis:


i dunno, there's something about these unpublished stories that really affect me, unlike the heavily edited published novels...kahit na magulo yung plot, magulo yung writing, magulo yung characters, ang daming typos...but i really feel the story...hay buhay...there i let it out...sorry guys for ranting :p...:upset:


right now i really need a feel-good novel...depressed pa rin ako...ehehe..:lol:

i think most of you have already read the books where the quotes came from.

but to help you recall, the first quote is from Angel's Blood (sorry kids di ko alam kung paano magspoiler) when Raphael was shot by Elena and he was bleeding, Dmitri has spoken those words...i just find it soooo funny :lol:

the 2nd quote is from Something About You, spoken by Cameron's gf during the gf's bridal shower in the club.

the 3rd is (and i admit i just picked this up from amazon's forum) from Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas. said during the ledge scene almost at the end of the book.

hi everyone! as i've seen through this thread puro girls lang lahat nagpopost dito then usually yung nirerecommend nyo always nasa romance genre, am i right? unfortunately for me it doesn't fit to my preferred reading (maka-hard core science fiction, action-adventure, alternate history, horror-suspense kasi ako - obviously not emotional hehe). anyways, i find this thread useful kasi baka i can recommend some of them to my wifey. balat sibuyas yun pagdating sa mga tear-jerkers hehe. just keep the conversation going, nice to know na maraming book lovers dito na kagaya nyo :)
