Sony Ericsson Announces the P1: the 5th generation P-series smart phone

Sony Ericsson, the manufacturer that pioneered the development of smartphones, unveils the P1 as the latest addition to its P-series range.

“In one sense the Sony Ericsson P1 is an evolution of our P-series smartphones, as it pushes forward the best attributes of its predecessors,” says Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “At the same time there are also significant improvements in design, speed and battery performance.”

Building on the feature set of earlier models, the Sony Ericsson P1 supports a wide range of push email solutions and Web browsing applications, plus connectivity via hi-speed UMTS and Wireless LAN (WiFi™). Add to this its compact size and multimedia capabilities and the P1 is the complete mobile office. It is based on the Symbian™ operating system (v9.1) and UIQ 3.0, an open platform that offers broad potential for multimedia applications from operators/carriers, content owners and third party developers.

Right now, since last last week pa sya lumabas sa Alabang (sinabihan kasi ako agad nung friend ko doon kasi talagang pinaaabangan ko sa kanya yon) 30k nalang sya. At sabi nya, wait pa daw ng konti at baka ibaba pa daw ng 28k. Kaya ako, I'm taking my time. Nadala na kasi ako nung pagkuha ko ng P990i eh. :D

Yes sir. Mas mabilis nga sya ng konti compared sa P990i since mas malaki ang RAM nya. Kaya mapapansin mo sa task manager nya, ang daming nakabukas pero wala paring error or hanging unlike sa P990i mga apat palang yung nakabukas medyo nahihirapan na.

Yes. With original warranty yon ha. May mga nagbebenta kasi 21k pero store warranty lang. Bilin nyo na yung may original warranty at konti lang naman difference. May kasama pa syang software voucher that entitles you to atleast 4 applications na free for download. Sa mga non-warrantied P1i wala non. And another voucher with discounts on accessories. At pag sinuwerte ka pa, kung talagang kilala mo yung kukunan mo, you'll get a 1gig M2 card di tulad ng regular na 512 lang or 256 pa nga.

Sa ngayon wala pa akong complain sa kanya. The Multifunction qwerty is really something to get used to. Nakakalito pa sya para sa akin kaya pinapractise ko ng todo. And some of the buttons you really have to press sa screen lang.

Camera is nice. Satisfied ako. Ok naman yung mga night shots nya since dalawa na ang camera light nya or flash. Audio naman is much better quality than P990i but the same loudness. And pinaka nagustuhan ko sa kanya is manipis sya at mas maliit. Ang daling dalin. Ay, ang likod nga pala nya is parang rubber texture kaya ingat sa pag kamot. Yun eh kung kukuha kayo. :D

Pag may mga napansin pa akong ok at hindi ok sa kanya, post ko dito.:thumbsup:

Hindi pa eh. Hindi naman kasi ako masyado mahilig makinig ng audio sa phone or mp3 player. Kung makikinig man ako, loudspeaker gamit ko. Pero alam ko nabasa ko sa review na ok naman yung feature na yon sa P1i. Pero syempre, can't say for sure. maybe u can ask for a demo about that feature. Papayag naman magpademo yung mga iyon eh.

Surprisingly, very good. Almost exactly what they've said on its specs. Unlike the P990i. In standby, or just texting, it looks like it would reach 3 days max. With extreme internet browsing, max of 1 day or a little less. Unlike the P990i, it lasted for the just half a day. That's why I bought extra battery.

Cool, kasi usually pag P-series matakaw sa battery, lalo na pag madalas mong kalikutin ang features.

For those who have na, I was able to buy a Capdase leather flip case for it at Goldcrest. It's just like the flip case for the P990i. There's also a Capdase leather bifold case for the P1i available there. Price is 900.

Check nyo nalang. Sa kanila lang ako nakakita ng Capdase for the P1i.

Just confirmed it today. The price of the P1i at Alabang is 22,800 with original SE warranty. Kung kukuha kayo doon, post kayo dito so I can give you details.

Oh, and upto now, wala parin akong naeencounter na problem sa kanya. Kahit hanging wala. Ang tagal pa talaga ng battery life compared to P990i. Sagad sagaran aabot ng 3 days di ko lang matiis na di magcharge kasi baka pag lumabas ako biglang maubusan ako. :D

Di naman, kasi kung compare mo sya sa www.esato.com/phones ang malaking difference is the memory. Ang W960 walang voicedial, IrDA, light/flash, usb. Talo pa sya sa battery life ng P1.

Sa P1i kasi talagang kasam na yung fingers mo on pressing the screen. Kung baga, parang concept na ng Samsung na touch sensitive buttons. Sa P1i yung screen na. Pero bro, suggest ko, wag mong masyadong bibilisan at dadalasan gamitin ang jog dial. Since plastic sya, may mga ipin sya na maaring mapudpud agad. May mga ganong cases kasi sa sa lahat ng P series ng SE. Ang nangyayari hindi ganon kareactive yung jog dial. Pero ang napansin ko naman ngayon is mas matigas na ang jog dial ng P1i. Mukhang mas malalaki na ang gaps na ipin nya kaya mas exact ang turns mo. Pero mas maganda na yung nagiingat.

Regarding sa stylus naman, agree ako na in some cases hindi mo na talaga gagamitin yung stylus. Mas gugustuhin mo ng magtype kaysa magsulat. Pero katulad ko na mahilig magbrowse using the WIFI, magagasgas ng todo yung jog dial ko kung ito ang gagamitin ko. So mas gamit ko ang stylus sa pagbabrowse. Kasi ang browser ng P990i and P1i, using the stylus, you can tap and drag the browser to scroll. mas mabilis kaysa using the jog dial. Remember ha, tap (hold) then drag. Try nyo when browsing.:thumbsup:

if u want, try to install the opera mini from the official site (hxxp://www.operamini.com/download/pc/sonyericsson/sonyericsson_p1/).
when you open the application at first, they hav to test your network connection ("myglobe inet" is better than "myglobe connect") and asks for some confirmations. So you will be charged for the initial set-up (one time only and dapat my load ka).
Pgkatapos, you can now go with the browsing, syempre dapat below 10 ang load mo para di mbawasan. Bookmark mo yung site na gusto mo puntahan then double click mo yung bukmark or link. Once nakapasok na, same procedure prin, 2X click lang din sa mga link n gusto puntahan. Kapag nag error, press lang yung "ok" and ulit lang. Sabi nung iba, 1 click then followed by 2X click..

Sana tama tong procedure ko pero yan ginagamit ko dati sa N73 ko.
Ang diference lang ay yung sa n73, joystick gamit ko pang navigate and pang click. And not familiar po ako sa P series..

Di pa sure since rumor palang sya. Kaya malamang for 2nd or 3rd quarter next year pa ang labas nyan.

Ok lang kumuha ng P1i sa ngayon since rumor pa nga lang itong P3. At kung lalabas man sya, asahan nyo na mahal sya with that rumoured specs. Kaya matagal-tagal pa talaga ang hihintayin bago makabili nito.

First, wala pang imitation or clone na may qwerty. If there is, presyo non should range from 8k to 13k lang.
Second, kung 18k lang, why not just get the warrantied one. 2k difference lang naman. Para atleast may NTC sticker sa likod ng phone, sa pinaglalagyan ng battery.
Third, kung talagang yung 18k ang gusto mong bilin, check mo nalang mabuti yung phone. Ang mga clones yung mga exterior lang ang kamukha. Iba ang kanilang firmware or OS. Sa pag inopen mo yung P1i, dapat may Sony Ericsson na logo animation. Tapos, sa menu, check the system info. Tapos check mo nalang lahat kung ok.

Normally, kung matino- tino naman yung nagbebenta, they will say naman if its a clone or not.

Alam mo, yon hindi ko na check. :D Pero alam ko standard talaga eh yung 3GP. Kasi nagdownload agad ako ng DIVx player para sa kanya eh.

Update ko lang kayo regarding sa price ng P1i sa Alabang Town Center. Sa ngayon, 18k nalang sya with original Sony Ericsson warranty.

uu dami nga dmdaan d2 pro testing lng pnpkita nila...pra bang prototype plng n mga unit, pro same din...kc dmdaan din ung mga phones s mga tests(durability, etc..)ung mga nkukulimbat ng NTC n phones ay hindi p pede 'ipamgay' or 'ibnta'...my memo kc n my time din ung my-ari or dealer n mgbayad pra mbalik ung mga units n nkuha...as of now, khit 1 wala pa naiiwan :weep: hehehehe

As of now, 18k sa Alabang. Pero may nabalitaan ako na sa Greenhills daw its 16k. Siguro yun yung store warranty.

Matagal pa yan bro. Wala pa nga silang real picture na maiprovide eh. So that means hindi pa sila talaga officially nagaannounce. Pwede ring hindi pa yon matuloy. Katulad ng N96, nagleak narin yung mga pictures nya pero hindi pa din official.
