simulan ko na.... i just commited a serious clinical mistake during our latest exposure, akalain mo bang ma undershoot ako ng IVF fluid ung patient ko ng 320 cc.???!!!! ang laki na nun dba? buti nalang at pinatawad ng C.I(clinical istructor) kundi 5-30 days of extension duty in which 1day=144pesos, ikaw pa nagseserve ng extension duty, ikaw pa ang nagbabayad.... cnu pa kaya may serious din na clinical errors? share nyo dito..

-based sa akin experience sa board, ung board exam na binibigay ng BON ay focused na sa FUNDA... and a lil bit of OR techniques.. i guess review talaga kayo ng Nursing funda..
-i regret to inform na halos lahat ng members ng BON ay nagtuturo ng MASTERS sa UP, and having to teach masters degree would mean NURSING RESEARCH.... i suggest nursing research should not be taken for granted.... medyo bwisit nga ung lesson, but wala tayong ma gawa...
-ang psych ngayon is quite OK kahit na weakness ko yun... (note: may tagalog situation na lumabas sa DEC. 2007 bka lumbas uli sa JUNE 08)
-BONUS : be familiar with the IMCI you can get as much as 20 points in a test... hope na lalabas uli...

Hmmm.... happy moments while on duty? Siguro more on MEMORABLE... Yung nag duty kami sa medical ward sa provincial hospital namin, tapos talagang malupet yung c.i. namin talagang totoong duty! walang umupo hangga't di natatapos yung buong duty!!!

pumasa ako last June 2007. Wala pa po akong hospital experience na ma ekwento sa inyo. na teach ako sa dati kung course, tapos mukhang wala akong patutunghan kaya, nag resign ako last April 1. Concentrate nalang ako sa Nclex bago mag experience. Mahirap mag aral pag meron kang trabaho....(di kc ako ganon ka genius kagaya nyo)

recommended REVIEW CENTERS (in my opinion)

SLRC has been in the business for a long already and the consistency has been good. i have been in SLRC as an enrollee in NLE review, the june 2006 and Dec 2007, in which both exams i passed. they have a good line-up of national reviewers and i believe sulit yung review. ok talaga yung service nila kasi pati accomodation sa hotel and during the exams days, well assited yung examinees nila.
:ranting:2. R.A. GAPUZ RC
ito po yung controversial na RC. i have no bitter comment for this RC, in fairness, they have set a trend in the nursing review business. ang gapuz kasi yung nag in-house sa skul namin, and it was good kasi naka experience ako na si Gapuz mismo ang nag review sa amin. one thing i don't like in this RC is "its too GAY, too Showbiz" comment ko lang is "they are good motivators, but average educators".
:salute:3. NGRTCI
NGRTCI is a good RC, ok rin yung Performance nila. good number of passers. according sa mga kilala ko, mdyo may kabadingan rin, and mabilisan daw ang review, but i commend this RC.
:pray:4.RCAP
a good RC with respected passing rates. according to some sources, ito po yung RC nang St. Pauls College-Iloilo which has been a tough school to beat in the boards.

MY AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

1. PACU (post-anesthesia care unit)
dito po ako ngaun na assign and i have with the PACU since i started my relievership.
job: primarily is to attend post-op cases. stabilize VS, carry-out the post-op orders, and endorsing the case to the wards if stable.
pros:mabilisan yung work dito, and you have to be so keen in your assesment, nahahasa tlaga yung judgement mo, and you have to take risk sometimes, i love the work here kasi wala kang nurse na kasama and wala ka rin headnurse. you are alone and you are the master of your own unit. meron ka lang kasamang attendant to assist.

2. ER / OPD
this is my favorite department.. fastpaced action talaga dito. skills talaga ang kailangan dito.
job:admition of cases
pros: you will learn a lot of skills, assessment, IV insertion, BLS. lahat2x...
3. ICU
i have a fair ICU experience considering napatayan na ako nang isang pasyente sa ICU, i had patient with a very bad prognosis, in which dx na sya with, Pneumonia,DIC, and severe sepsis. dedbol tlga. itong area na to is elite, and i guess para sa mga mtigas ang sikmura at pang matagalan..
job: individualized critical care NSG.
pros: intensive clinical experience
4. OR
the few and the proud sabi nila. iv'e been a scrub nurse for a hefty 2mos b4 i joined the PACU and i enjoy working with the OR dept. skills rin yung kailangan dito and only presence of mind lang ang kailangan. hindi dapat sloppy or lousy. dapat marunong ka mag anticipate. i have attended a number of worthwhile cases such as craniotomy and EX-Lap cases which is very educational..
job:scrub and circ nursing
pros:having the status of being part of the few and the proud

useful information for nurses aspiring to go abroad regarding IELTS.

1.IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System.
2.IELTS is managed by 3 companies. British council, IDP-IELTS Aus. and University of Cambridge.
3.IELTS is divided in 4 tests. listening, speaking, writting, and speaking.
4.nurses like us should have an overall band score of at least 6 and a speaking band score of 7.
5.IELTS fee: P8,640.00* (estimated)
