guys!!! with regards to our search engine...
any suggestions or recommendation??:):)

i have found some hustles during my search especially in applications with version numbers, topics on the thread, etc..:upset:

i know that in some other forums we almost have the same search engines..

hmmmnnn... any suggestions to improve or modify our search engine??

oo nga, imo hndi accurate ung search engine..
halimbawa, plan ko mgstart ng thread, so search
ko muna bka meron na, & then wla ako nakita after
trying few keywords na related sa topic...

Mahirap mgmatch kc ung iba, ini-edit ung title nila..

i think dapat pag mag sesearch po tau e dapat "SHOW POST"


instead of "SHOW THREAD"...

sana may solution nito ang mga MODS natin...

ang nangyayari po kasi eh.. marami na ang nag double post which leads to conflicts or anything.. kawawa naman yung mga generous nating symbianizers..
marami kasi excited na nagpopost although they use first the search engine tapos wala naman silang nakitang kaparehas kasi hindi talaga accurate kya ang nangyari double post po.. alam naman natin na ang trabaho ng mga MODS is to maintain cleanliness in this forum, syempre dinidelete agad..

i use this method when searching files, example id look for panic at the disco's new album pretty odd. :)

click on search, go to advanced search, (look for the specific section when searching)
media zone
-tone audios
-foreign mp3's

dont put down three (3) letter common words or less. they wont show

ex. are, in, the, at

dont put numbers when searching they wont give results.

pick show as thread or as posts :)

Same here, when I search for particular I go for Advance then narrow down my search to Post instead of Thread. :D:

may times na nahihirapan dn aq kc sometimes
ndi lumalabas ung hinahanap ko ..
wat i do is i try many terms and worst is
hahanapin ko tlga one by one .. kya
sumtimes i understand people y they ask
and if double post na ba un .. :D

ok na basearch engine dito sa symb,.kasi ang hirap gamitin ng search engine dito,pano ba:noidea:..may sinesearch kasi kong topic di ko makita,one word kewword lang nangyayari e..

as for me.. i've been using the search engine of symbianize na from the beginning at ok naman sya.. wala naman akong nagiging problema... keyword lang hanapin mo bro.. ok na.. the problem is kung ung title ng thread eh walang spaces... kunwari search ka ng "recall" tapos ung title ng thread totalrecallfullversioncraccedbyblahblahblah... mdjo mahihirapan ka nga.. lalo na minsan kung pati ung content ng post eh wala dun ung word na hinahanap mo. :D at eto ang tip.. try mo ung show posts.... instead of show threads.. mas nakakatulong sya for detailed results.. ;)

Ako, tip lang din ang ise-share ko sa inyo.... Usually, kung nasesearch kasi tayo, Keywords lang ang nilalagay natin.. Actually, yung search engine natin ay capable for SEARCH STRING.. Ganito, lang yun, every time na magsesearch kayo, lagyan nyo ng * either sa front or and the end or even both sides para lahat ng possible words na may ganun, makikita nyo...

PS: Theres no Perfect Solution, but there are lot of possibles ways on resolving things... We just need to figure it out..:D

ako naman po, pag nagse-search, nilalagyan ko ng QUOTES ang keywords, so as to explicitly define sa search string na un ang gusto ko i-search... like this:

"search engine" "suggestion"

kung may gusto po ako i-post na new thread tapos ise-search ko kung may na-post nang ganun previously, i try to quote at least three consecutive words from the body of the post (i.e. "how to check"), kasi mas onti ang risk na mapalitan ang body kesa sa title. pag wala nakita, kuha ulit ako ng second set of three consecutive words sa ipo-post ko. pag wala pa rin, dun ako i-assume na wala pang ganung post :)

dapat pagnagsearch at least five letters or be specific nalang kasi minsan meron nalabas minsan naman wala :p

Dapat naka default nalang as "Show posts" kasi lalabas naman din yung thread title dun...

I agree i-default nalang as "Show post" keysa sa "Show thread" masyadong broad pag ung buong thread, ang hirap isa isahin
