Installing USB Flash Drivers

To connect phone in flashing mode, and perform tasks like flashing the main firmware, FS or to upload files to FS you must have USB Flash drivers installed on your computer.

With out installing USB Flash drivers, you can’t use XS++ or SeTool 2 lite or JDFlasher.

In good old days we used to use SEUS to do this automatically for us, but now SEUS updates phone to CID53 which is not desirable, so hence we install USB Flash Drivers manually. Here is the tutorial ! Please read the tutorial completely and also check out the video attached !

Installing Drivers (for Windows XP)

Download the necessary drivers. <link> (http://www.4shared.com/file/41539312/ecf1cde6/USBFlash_driver.html)

Then unpack the downloaded archive to a directory, your choice. (Use WinRAR to extract from archive)

1. Switch OFF your phone !
2. Remove the battery !
3. Reinsert your battery !
4. Don’t start your phone !
5. HOLDING ‘C’ on your phone, connect your phone to USB Cable !
6. Don’t Leave C through out driver installation.

You get a notification in System Tray ! Saying SEMC USB Flash Device

A new window should appear “Found new hardware wizard”
It asks permissions for to search for drivers for the device. Select “No, not this time” and click next.

Then select the option INSTALL FROM A SPECIFIED LOCATION(ADVANCED) and click next

Then choose “Search for the best drivers in these locations”, and check the “Include this location in this search”, now browse for the downloaded drivers.

Click next, Wait for some time, drivers get installed.

Now…….

Open the directory, where you unpacked the archive, In the directory, you will find a ggsemc.inf file. Click on it with the right mouse button, and then click ‘Install‘.

Using FSX you can upload anything to FS of the phone. Its Just like FAR MANAGER.

You can add flash menus, change camera driver, change acoustics, add languages with FSX

If you not made GDFS backup then please do it first

You can upload stuff to phone either with own_custpack method or via FSX

Here we discuss how to flash the firmware. Also debranding a phone is flashing the phone with a generic main and a generic FS of your region

SE phone Firmware has two parts.
Main Firmware which contains all the phone software. Main firmware file has the .mbn extension.
FS is a firmware which has settings and all other data like the default Images and Ringtones and all other files that is used by phone. It has .fbn file extension.

Before you flash the main firmware make GDFS BACKUP. GDFS backup is very important and not to be missed.

The video Shows how to flash the firmwares. Watch the video tutorial.

Now some important information

In this video a w610 firmware is flashed to a k550. But you must use the firmware of your phone, if your phone is a k810 then use k810 firmwares. But if your phone is S500 then you can use either S500 Firmwares or W580 Firmware, etc.
For debranding its necessary to flash both main and fs.
Only the Main can be flashed. Not a problem. But its always recommenced to flash FS also.

Many FS are available for a phone, you must choose the FS that has your language files
By default all FS have English langauge.
You can download FS and Main from TOPSONY. Or for free from TOPSE if the FS for your area is available. Or you can make a request at se-nse firmware section. People those who have the firmware should help you. Also check out my download section for few links.
If you are flashing the FS then you must also do customization or flashing of CDA. If you don’t do then phone won’t start. Your phone will halt boot saying configuration error. To do this you must download Custpack from se-nse download area. And flash them using own_custpack method which is shown in the video as well.

Personalize Your Phone Using Far Manager

You can upload files to phone’s FS using Far Manager
you can edit files in phone’s file system
you also can delete files from phone’s file system using FAR manager

in case you wanted to delete flash menu or walkman skins then FAR Manager is the way to go. Because FSX deletion can be really cumbersome. Instead using FAR manger u can select the skin folder and press delete or select a file and delete !

1. Start FAR Manager
Press Alt+F1 and choose SEFP

2.Take DCU-60 in Device, 921600 in Speed and Your’s CID in Boot script. and choose db2020 CID 52. IF Your phone is CID51 and DB2020 then choose db2020_51 or if its CID49 or then db2020_49.In our case k800...choose db2020_52

3.HIT Enter The Matrix !

Connect Phone holding C.. don’t leave C

4.Wait ! Phone Detected … Wait for few second .. Leave C.
Now it will read phone file FS.. will take a minute

5.Select FS ! and Hit enter !! ( don’t select FLASH )
Pressing Alt+F2 lets you choose what device you want to see on the right hand side
You can choose C: or D:

Note on language >> add more languages .t9 and .lng (first delete all setting files put the language files,
leave other .t9 and .lng files. when you restart phone new setting files will be created)


6.IMPORTANT!
When you’ve finished with the changes on the phone move up to the root of the filesystem by pressing "..."

7.Exit FAR .. Reinsert Battery and Start phone !

PATCHING using JDFlasher

1. Download a copy of your Main Firmware
2. Place that Main in Far\Plugins\jdflaser\2020_52
3. Drag the main into qamake.exe
4. Let it finish. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
5. Open Far Manager, press Alt-F1 and select "just da flasher"
6. Select as phone "db2020", maximum speed and click "jump down into a large rabbit hole"
7. As soon as it connected select "bflash"
8. You will need to reinsert the battery 3 times (it will tell you when to do that). Don't leave your computer.
9. As soon as it finishes, it will tell you to reflash your Main. We're going to do that now.
10. In the right pane navigate to Far\Plugins\jdflasher\2020_52
11. Select your main (make sure you select the .mbn file and not the .vkp file!) and click copy. In the 1st dialog don't change anything, just click copy. In the 2nd dialog make sure "flash babe image" (the 1st option) is selected and click flash.
12. After flashing is done, select the VKP patch that is in Far\Plugins\jdflasher\2020_52 and press copy. Don't change anything on the 1st dialog again. On the 2nd dialog make sure that "Process vkp patch" is selected and click "flash". It should take a few seconds.
13. Now you can apply any patch you want!
14. After you finish, make sure you click the 3 dots ("...") and select "yes"

Next time you want to patch your phone, you won't have to do the same things again! Before connecting your phone, select "qa2020" instead of "db2020" as your phone model. Then click bflash and jump to step 13

BACK-UP GDFS USING XS++

This this tutorial is about GDFS and how to back it up for safety reasons

GDFS is the phones “stash”, where all settings and calibration data is stored (this also goes for the firmwares IMEI-resource as well as the SIM locks). Similar to other brands use of NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory).

GDFS contains a very important variables need to start phone ! If the gdfs is corrupted then starting the phone will not start turning to a dead phone ! GDFS rarely gets damaged ! But as a precaution we make a backup of GDFS so that in case your GDFS variables are messed up then we can restore the backup and save the phone !

Your phone’s GDFS is unique to your phone

Before we backup GDFS we update the phone
To update the phone you must use SEUS: Sony Ericsson Update Service
SEUS is available for download from its official Website

Download and Install SEUS
To update your phone start SEUS and follow the on screen instructions. SEUS gives instructions to update phone very neatly and its easy to follow. If your phone is updated then it will pass a message that phone is already updated and asks you to disconnect phone.

Installing SEUS is compulsory even if your phone is updated because it installs the latest USB Flash Drivers required for programs like XS++, SeTool 2, and Far Manager. Also when you connect phone to SEUS it creates virtual ports necessary for communication in case they were not created earlier.

Ensure that your phone is charged to 100%


BACKUP GDFS:

Shutdown phone .. Reinsert battery !
Start XS++
Click on connect in XS++
holding C connect phone to USB cable ! don’t leave C untill XS++ says ready for operation !
Connecting phone to XS++ is the same as connecting phone to SEUS.

Now In configuration select GDFS..
Click Backup GDFS…!
wait for few seconds..!! you get your GDFS back up file in XS++ backup Directory !
Keep the copies of your GDFS safely !!!!

RESTORING A GDFS

VERY IMPORTANT: Your phone GDFS is unique to your phone. Writing a GDFS from any other phone will permanently damage your phone beyond repair. You must always write a gdfs that came from your very own handset. Lets say you have a k800i and you try to restore a gdfs that came from your friends k800i then your phone is in big trouble. Hence make sure that the GDFS that your writing is your own GDFS.

Download XS++: <click here for link>

Charge your phone battery to 100%

Click connect phone in XS++
Shutdown and reinsert battery
Connect Phone holding C
In Configuration Select GDFS.
Select the gdfs to restore. Click Write GDFS.
Reinsert battery Start Phone.
Your phone must now work flawlessly

Red Light Blinking, Dead ?

You are flashing your phone and all of a sudden something goes wrong, Program hangs or it shows an error. Or Flashing goes with success but when you try to start your phone but the red light at the infrared port blinks 5 times and phone refuses to start. XS++ and SeTool 2 lite no longer detect your phone. Your computer also does not identify your phone. Its Completely Dead.. We will fix it, Read On.

Some time during flashing the EROM goes dead or corrupt due to errors. Redlight blinking is a sign of low battery or a dead EROM. If phone has a bad EROM it shuts down and does not start.

In that case we have to repair the EROM. And now here we will discuss the easiest way to fix it.

Using SeTool2 lite 1.11 we can fix this problem by this way.

Start SeTool 2 lite
Press Unlock\Repair Button, The first button.
Reinsert Battery
Connect phone holding 2+5
Wait, SeTool 2 lite will repair the EROM, it will flash it back.
Done
Now you can start your phone.

Modding RIGHT_SOFTKEY_HOOK

2. Copy it to tpa/preset/custom
3. Start XS++ then flash it.
4. Now Master reset your phone (SETTINGS ONLY)

Change MENU via Phone

my self edited instruction on how to change menu via phone.

1. Using FAR or XS++, copy the shortcuts rar file to tpa/preset/system/menu
2. create a folder in usb/other called 'menu'. (Tandaan! ito yung makikita sa XS++ na kahelera nang IFS, TPA at iba pang folders)
Create a folder in usb/other/menu for each of your custom menus.
hal:


1. usb/other/menu/K80icons
2. usb/other/menu/iphone-icons
3. usb/other/menu/at kung ano pa mang name ang gusto nyo basta madaling i-type

basta i-group ang fav menus sa isang folder at copyahin sa phone.


Menu icons must be named in the format icon1_selected.png, icon1_unselected.png etc.


*para universal ang file naming, lahat naka ayon sa default file names ng phone. gets?

3. The menu set that will be displayed, will be the one at this path: usb/other/menu/live,
so before disconnecting far, name one of your custom menu folder's to "live"


*back at step 2, you have copied all of your fav menu folder by folder. but dont forget to rename one of them as "live" without the quotes. kasi ito ang babasahin ng phone pagka restart nyo.


4. Exit FAR/XS++, then start your phone.
5. In future to to change menu's, simply rename one of the menu sets in the menu folder to "live", then restart the phone. To add new menus simply copy them using the usb cable or bluetooth to "phone memory/other/menu"


*remember, ito ang PHONE memory nyo and not the MEMORYSTICK.... gets?!

Flash Menus !

As you all know flash menus have two parts
>> The Theme .THM file
>> And Flash .SWF file

For a flash menu to work both the .THM file should be configured to use the .swf file in the phone FS, this can be done by extracting the .thm file and editing the theme xml database.

Or you can use SE Theme Tool software to couple a theme and swf file, so that you can use the flash menu with the theme that you want !

Instructions on how to use it !

1. Copy the Theme .THM file into SETheme Tools folder
2. Start SE-Theme Tools 1.0.exe and wait for few seconds
3. Then select 1
4. Type the name of the Flash Menu .swf which you wan to use
5. Wait for processing
6. Exit !

may problema po ako sa k800 phone ko. gumamit ako nang Setool2lite V1.11, tsaka xs++ tapos hindi gumagana yong Setool2lite V1.11 kaya sa xs naman ako. ito nangyari sa xs++ ko
