Installation

IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU READ THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS HACK.

1. Before plugging your iPod into your computer, you must set the main menu settings. This is because the background used for the hack has these icons implemented, and if you do not have this exact configuration, your main menu will either malfunction or take you to the wrong menus.

2. Plug iPod into computer, and open iPodWizard.
3. Load the firmware binary. Please, LOAD THE CORRECT FIRMWARE.
4. Click “Write to iPod”.
5. When writing is done, click “Eject”, but DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR IPOD.
6. Your iPod will reboot. When it has successfully rebooted, your computer will redetected. Eject it again. Now you may unplug.
7. Enjoy your iPod.

Resources provide the greatest flexibility in modding your iPod. They determine how you iPod works, from the positioning of images to options that appear on menus and what certain actions do. There are four different types of resources, but all are loaded the same way.



To load a resource:

1. Go into the Layouts/Resources tab.

2. Determine the type of resource you're loading.

a. If the resource begins with "view", make sure you're in scheme layouts.

b. If the resource begins with "font", go to "Font types"

c. If the resource begins with "menu", go to "Menus"

d. If the resource begins with "command", go to "Command Table"

3. Once you are in the proper resource view, type in the number of the resource you want to load in the search box, then click "Search".

I’ve been meaning to write a tutorial on this for a while because I realize that iPod Stuff doesn’t have one, but since a lot of people already know how to do it, it hasn’t been an urgent thing. It is almost impossible to Brick your iPod using this method and everything is pretty much reversible. Heres how to do it.

1. get iPod wizard ( www.getipodwizard.com), the theme you want (folder containing images, resources found at http://www.ipodwizard.net/forumdisplay.php?f=94), and the background hack (corresponding to your iPod and your theme, either 1.2.1 Classic 1.2.1, 1.2.2, classic 1.2.2, or 1.3.2)

2. Enable your iPod for disk use. open iPod wizard. in the edit mode drop down box, select firmware file and navigate and open the bg hack you installed.

3. Go to the preferences tab and check the box ‘Old pictures index saving system’ as most pictures are set to this format. (if your folder containing the images has the pictures called Example: pic128 make sure the box is not checked)

4. Go back to the pictures tab, select ‘Load All’ and navigate and open the folder containing your theme (If ipod wizard crashes, it is because your pictures are named the opposite of what they should be with the ‘old saving system’ box checked. go back and repeat step 3 but select the opposite of what you chose before)

5. If your theme did not contain any resources, click the ‘Write’ option in the top center of iPod wizard to write the theme to the firmware. Then press the ‘write to iPod’ button under the ‘write’ button to write the firmware to your iPod. (If your theme contains resources, see below)

6. Click on the layout tab. First we will discuss how loading the resources work. if the RSRC values have ‘view’ in front of the number, you can press ‘load all’ and they will be loaded correctly. If they do not have ‘view’ in front of the number, you must search the number in the first box, known as the ‘Find’ box. then load the resource by clicking on the ‘Load Resource’ button. Now see below on what resources to load where

7. Most themes you download tell you where to load the RSRC’s, or the folder containing the resources wil be named something like Example: Font Types which should be loaded of coarse in the Font Types section. If they dont, most will be loaded into the Resource Type ‘Scheme’ types. Notice the box in the top left in the layout tab. Say you are loading Font Types. Select the Font Types from the Resource Types Drop down menu.

8. Load the resources in their correct spots.

9. This time, Press the Button ‘Write to iPod’. Do Not Press ‘Write’ This is to bring your ipod back to a safe state in case you loaded the resources in the incorrect places. Also, Do not switch windows when writing firmware because it could cause iPod wizard to crash. Safely eject your ipod using the ‘Eject’ Button at the top right of iPod Wizard once your firmware has been successfully written. Thats It! (if your ipod goes into a reboot loop, see below.) If this was successful click the ‘Write’ Button, then you can close iPod Wizard. If it was unsuccessful, look below. Do not close ipod wizard if it was unsuccessful.

Reboot Loop Error (extra steps: 10 - 12)

10. If your ipod goes into a reboot loop, and continually reboots, use the following steps. You probably loaded the RSRC’s in the wrong places.

11. On your ipod, Hold Menu + Center for 6 seconds until it reboots again. As Soon as it reboots, Hold Center + Play to put into disk mode. Your ipod should already be enabled for disk use. If not, do that.

12. Plug your ipod back in. and load your firmware file you used before. Re-load the RSRC’s in their correct places and try the process again using steps 6 - 9

ung firmware para un sa generation ng ipod mo ex. 5th generation and 5.5 generation, pano mo malalaman kung 5th or 5.5 ka? pag wala kang search menu sa ipod vid. mo 5th gen. ka, pag may search menu ka 5.5 gen. ka, kailangan tamang firmware ang ilalagay mo based sa generation ng ipod mo..

yeah tama un actually 1.2.1 at 1.2.2 ang firmware ng mga mods na to, and tama din ignore mo lang ang firmware upgrade pag nagpakita sa itunes, and vice versa kung gusto mo na ibalik sa dati/factory default ang ipod mo ireupdate mo lang sa firmware upgrade ng itunes balik na ulit sa dati, di pa nabura mga nakasave sa ipod mo, di ba madali lang ibalik if ever, kya kasi laging nagpapaupdate ang apple ng firmware, except for bug fixes nila sa mga podz natin eh for security purposes din, para maiwasan tong mga hacks at mods na ganto hehehehe..

sa ipod center bro..but wala binubuksan na nila ung ipod sila na rin nagpapalit ng batt...actually bro issue talaga sa apple ang life span ng batteries sa podz nila..try to charge mo bro ng 4 hours para full batt talaga, and un lessen mo ung brightness, try mo turn it off always pag di mo gamit, by pressing play for about 5 sec ata or maybe more...actually i know a hack how to open ur podz manually by urself kaso sobrang risky un bro di ko pa rin natry nabasa ko lang at saka may mga tools na kailangan...
