Rockbox is another Opensource OS for the ipod and other mp3’s. It lets you play Music, Mpeg videos…lets you play Gameboy and Gameboy color games and more!

Eto rin po ung sinasabing dual boot or triple boot sa ipod vid. nyo kasi magiging 2 o 3 ang OS ng ipod nyo maliban sa default OS nya mismo..

How do i install?

It is very simple!

First: Get the latest build of rocbox for your iPod Video.. which can be found here http://build.rockbox.org/ The latest one right now for the 30g ipod is http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodvideo/rockbox.zip and for 60 and 80G its this one http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodvideo64mb/rockbox.zip

Second: on your desktop, Make a Folder Called rockbox… Make it to put all the files there and make it simple!

Third: After you have downloaded the latest build of rockbox, Extract the .Rockbox folder into your iPod root.

Fourth: You have to install the bootloader so download it here http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/win32/ipodpatcher.exe

Make sure your ipod is plugged..

Start the installer and the program will search for the ipod
After it found it, Press I and enter… after that Congrats you have Rockbox on your iPod! Eject it with itunes or anything and wait for it to reboot. it’ll reboot in rockbox!

If you want to switch OS, Just reboot the ipod by pressing Menu + center, till the screen turns black and switch the hold button! and thats it PS: it will take at least like 30 seconds for the appler os to load so dont worry



Finding songs in Rockbox

Simple as well

Go on rockbox if your not on it

then go to settings-general settings-file view-show files-music—–> click center
After go to settings- general settings-database-load to ram-yes
last step: go back and press initialize now
and reboot

your songs will be under the Database option!



Intalling themes!

Alright since the normal Rockbox theme is pretty ugly, you can download one and install it! this is how you do it

First go to http://rockbox-themes.org/index.php?res=320x240x16 and download the theme you want! Make sure it isnt written SENAB at the bottom of the pic.

After you downloaded it, Extract it into the rockbox folder on your desktop

Now open the .rockbox folder and open the first folder and drag and drop the file inside that folder into the folder with the same name on your ipod.. i dunno if you get it… you will once you download the file.

After Disconnect and go on rockbox… now go on settings—>Browse theme–>and select the theme you downloaded! everything should change!

Adding Fonts to Rockbox!

Very simple to do!

Just download this and put all the files inside into the font folder in rockbox on your ipod!

Playing GB and GBC games on your ipod!

Again this is very simple… make a folder called Roms in the ipod directory NOT IN THE .ROCKBOX FOLDER.

Then Download any GB or GBC rom and put it in that folder

Eject your ipod and go on rockbox…. go on Files—–> Roms—–> the game you wanna play and press center… it should load

madali lang yan tol, ganto lang download mo to rockbox build for 30 gig (http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodvideo/rockbox.zip) den iextract mo sa drive ng ipod mo kunwari E:/ kailangan nakaenable disk usage sa ipod mo ha den paandarin mo ung bootloader eto un bootloader (http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/win32/ipodpatcher.exe) tapos un na testing mo ulit baka may mali ka lang na ngawa madali lang yan mas madali pa nga sa paglalagay ng layout/mod firmware sa ipod, ganda yan bro daming tricks at kakaiba na magagawa mo pala sa ipod like ung visualization for example, parang winamp sa ipod i mean ung features nya kasi panibagong OS yan eh, para dual boot ka

if you still have problem in installing Rockbox, the best thing to is have a look in youtube.com, there are a bunch of video tutorial that would cater for your needs and it is much easier to understand:beat: enjoy

Hindi po. Na brick po ang Ipod ko. Yung screen po is parang gulo-gulo (parang sa tv, blck&whte) Tuloy, bumili nalang ako ng mas mura, "SANDISK SANSA E200 series".

SURE KA BA ilang beses ko na ginagawa to hindi nabribrick ipod ko baka ang nangyari sau naging safe mode ung ipod mo ganon kasi ang mangyayari if ever na maglalagay ka ng rockbox tapos nakakaconnect ka sa itunes ang gawin mo reboot mo lang press mo menu at center 10 secs.., if ever na maglalagay ka ng rockbox pagnagreboot ung ipod mo dahil sa ipodpatcher sure na nakahold ung ipod mo ung button sa taas un siguraduhing nakahold para hindi siya magboot up as rockbox kundi dun sa default program ng ipod mismo if gusto mo makita ung rockbox reboot mo lang ipod mo but make sure hindi siya nakaconnect sa itunes dahil hindi siya nareread ng itunes.. KINDLY POST UNG SCREENSHOT NG NANGYARI SA IPOD MO TIGNAN KO FOR CONFIRMATION KUNG NABRICK TALAGA ANG IPOD MO..

sir tanong lang po... pag ininstall ko na ung hybrid 3.5 revisited e di na ako pwede mag-install ng rockbox? o pwede sabay nasa loob ng ipod yun dalawa? di ko kasi alam kung kelangan mamili o pwede install lang ng install then pili na lang as the days go by pag nagsawa na...salamat!
