Do you think that GSIS takeover of Meralco is the solution to the high electricity cost?
In your opinion is it good for GSIS members and the country in general?

This is hot and important issue which affects all of us and it is paramount that we understand the underlying facts behind it.

i think hindi sya solusyon, dami nga utang ng napocor, kya iniipit nla meralco kc may agenda sla n bibilhin nla meralco pra maging govt owned n ung meralco, matalino si GMA talaga tsk...tsk...tsk..... hindi nila mahahandle ng maayos ang meralco bagkus mas magiging pagmumulan pa ito ng mas malawakang pagcocorrupt.:protest:

You have valid points lasalista.
We all know that the government is very bad and inefficient in managing businesses. Napocor is continously losing money and the people are in effect paying for it's poor performance.
The water service, NAWASA, used to be government ran and they privitised it because of inefficiency. Even PAL was under the government before and it was losing very badly before Lucio Tan bougth it. The same thing could happen to Meralco and the biggest losers would be the GSIS members.
The planned takeover of Meralco by GSIS is nothing but a clever political ploy of the Administration to divert the attention of the public from the various scandals. They did it very well with the rice shortage issue.

i don't think GSIS takeover ang solution diyan kailangan

I'm glad to hear that GSIS already backed out from buying out the Lopezes in Meralco. At least the money of GSIS members are safe for now.
The bigger issue now is how to lower the cost of electricity. In the initial Senate hearing it was revealed that a lot of inefficiencies and corruption are going on at Napocor, Transco, Meralco and even in government regulatory bodies as well as in BIR.
This proves my point that if they want to lower the cost of electricity, it should not be with Meralco alone but with all the above I mentioned because all the losses due to corruption and inefficiencies are being passed to us consumers.:ranting:

Makes me wonder how much is the real cost of electricity. Maybe not even half of what they are charging.:upset:

would you let gsis take over globe and smart to lower call rates ( and perhaps make texting free? )

this would be an excellent way for the administration to leech more money off filipinos.
something's gotta be changed about the system alright, but to that extent. I don't think so.
