Animal Life Spans


Animal life spans may not be something that we often think about but it is interesting to know. And at times, for instance before getting a pet, it’s very helpful to know the life span of an animal. While not all of the animals listed below are suitable as house pets, its can still be quite interesting to know how long certain animals live. All are based on an average life spans and there will be exceptions to certain rules.


Lions live forty years.


Pigs live for twenty-five years.


Tortoises have an amazing life span of three hundred and fifty years.


Clams live for an outstanding one hundred and fifty years.


Whales live for one hundred years.


Eagles live for one hundred years.


Pigeons live for twenty years.


Cows live for twenty-five years.


Crocodiles live for three hundred years.


Elephants live for one hundred years.


Domestic mice live for two to three years while wild mice will only live for one year.


Rats live for two years.


An outdoor cat will live for two years while a cat who is kept indoors will live for seventeen years.


Dogs live for eleven years.


Rabbits live for five years.


Horses live for thirty years.
