mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 09:53 How to send themes from one phone to another :
First you will need to have FExplorer on both the phones and then proceed with the steps below :
Sender = The person sending the theme from his phone
Recipient = The person receiving the theme on his phone
Also I am assuming the theme is saved in the MMC of the sender's phone.
Sender's Steps :
1. Open FExplorer on the sender's phone.
2. Browse to E:\System\skins
3. You will see alot of gibberishly named folder.
4. When you enter into any of those folders, you will see some files with the name of the theme.
5. Lets say you want to transfer the theme whose folder is named as 082df835462c1b4a.
6. Send all the content inside the folder 082df835462c1b4a via bluetooth to the recipient's phone.
7. Recipient must make a note of the folder name 082df835462c1b4a
8. The sender's task is over now.
Screenshots :

Recipient's Steps :
1. Open FExplorer.
2. Browse to E:\System\skins and make a new directory/folder named exactly as the folder in the sender's phone. (i.e. 082df835462c1b4a)
3. Go back to the main menu and scroll down to "inbox" and enter it.
4. In the "inbox" you will find the files that the sender sent you.
5. Copy/cut them one by one and paste them in the folder you just made.
6. Exit FExplorer.
7. Go to Themes >> (Move the joystick right to enter themes saved in MMC) and you will find the new theme there.

mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 09:55 Retrieve Security/Lock Code
Have you forgotten your security/lock code?
Do you still have access to your phone menu?
Do you have a S60v2 phone [Example 6600, 3230 N70 etc]?
If the answer to all the above questions is "Yes" then you can recover your phone's lock code.
All you need is an application called "UnlockMe"
Install the application and run it.
Let it run in the background.
Depending upon the lock code itself, the application can take anywhere between 5 mins to half an hour to retrieve your lock code but it WILL tell you your lock code.
Note : Please try not to call or do anything with the phone when this application is running. It might slow the process.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:00 Changing Operator Logo
You will need FExplorer. Also the image you want to set as Operator logo should be 97x25.
I'm assuming that the image that you want to set as your operator logo is saved in your MMC. Now follow the steps given below.
1. Open FExplorer
2. Go to C:\system\apps and check if there is any folder named "phone" or not.
3. If there is no "phone" folder then create one and then go inside the folder and create another folder named oplogo.
4. If the phone and oplogo folder are already there then move on to the next step.
5. Since your image is saved in MMC, go to E: drive and search where your image is located.
6. When you have found out the image you want to set as your Operator logo, click on "Options" > "File" > "Set as operator logo".
7. A message will pop up saying your phone needs to reboot. Click "Ok".
8. After your phone has restarted, your new operator logo would be set.
Thats it. Enjoy.
Additional Note :
* If your image is saved in phone memory and not MMC then instead of searching it in the E: drive, locate your image in the C: drive.

http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7720/myoplogori8.jpg
The portion marked in red is my operator logo
Follow the steps below to revert back to the original Operator Logo :
1. Open FExplorer
2. Go to C:\system\apps\phone\oplogo
3. Delete the file you see there.
4. Restart your phone.
Your Operator Logo is now back to how it orginally was.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:02 Retrieving Memory Card Password
So you have forgotten the password you used to protect your MMC? This happens very frequently to some of us who for security reasons, password protect their MMC and later forget the password themselves.
This trick works only on S60 1st and 2nd Edition Phones.
1. You will need to install FExplorer on your phone.
2. Launch FExplorer and then browse to C:\system. Scroll down to a file named "mmcstore".
3. Select Option | File | Hex/Text Viewer. You will find your password there.
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/9073/mmcstoregx2.jpghttp://img305.imageshack.us/img305/6886/hextextviewerjg9.jpg
For S60 3rd Phones, Nokia N-Series and Nokia E-Series :
Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the password in the latest S60 phones. You will have to format the memory card. It can be done from the Memory Card application by selecting Options | Format memory card. Of course, you will lose all your data in the memory card if you format your memory card.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:04 Interpreting IMEI
The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a number unique to every GSM and UMTS mobile phone. It is usually found printed on the phone underneath the battery and can also be found by dialling the sequence *#06# into the phone.
You can interpret your IMEI at this site :
www.numberingplans.com

An example is given below through screenshot :
Compatible devices :
S60 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Nokia N-Series, Nokia E-Series.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:05 Info on S60 Phone's Drives
If you have FExplorer then you will notice that as you launch the application, you can see 4 different drives, C:, D:, E:, and Z: Drive. Below are a little details about them.
C:\ - This drive is also called phone memory. Basically it is a flash memory where we can install applications and store our data. Unlike memory card, it is always inside our phone. So, even if we remove the memory card, our data are still there. However, note that the size of phone memory is limited.
D:\ - It is the drive used to store temporary files. The contents will be deleted when the device reboots. In many cases, we dont use this drive.
E:\ - It is the drive of your memory card. Normally, this is the place where we install applications and install our data.
Z:\ - This is where the ROM image is stored. It contains all the operating systems applications and data files. Since it is read-only memory, you cannot write anything. The only way to modify the contents of Z:\ drive is by flashing the phone, for example via Nokia Software Updater.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:07 Start spying
If you short-circuit the right, left and middle pins situated below your Nokia phone with all the pins connected, the Nokia software hangs.
The profile Headset gets activated prior to which automatic answer in the headset profile needs to be activated along with the volume level set to mute.
To spy, the phone can be kept in a room or somewhere else and the user gets to know what others in the room are talking about when he calls on the phone.
The phone itself answers the call. It does not possess any magical power though.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:09 How to free more RAM on your phone
Method 1 - Flight mode :
Put your phone in "Flight mode" with Psiloc System Tools. Install System Tools, open it and select "Flight mode". This way you can restart the phone without your SIM card so there will be no running phone tasks in the background. Now you can have up to 3.5 MB of free RAM!
Note: Ironically enough, Flight mode doesn't work when Smart Launcher is installed, at least in some cases it doesnt.
But there are several reports of people who have both apps running without any problems.
Method 2 - Smart Launcher trick :
Install Smart Launcher and open it. Go to Options, Settings and put Launcher ON.
Now plug in your charger and switch off your phone. Wait untill the battery meter appears and short press the Menu button (don't hold).
The menu should appear and now you can have 3.5 to 4.5 MB free RAM! (Hold Menu button to check RAM).
The trick is that with the charger plugged in, the phone must get a minimum software support for charging, even when
the phone is switched off. And somehow Smart Launcher has still got it's shortcut running and that's the Menu button. So when
you press the Menu button, you go directly to the Menu without any other phone tasks running in the background so
you trick the phone and you have more free RAM!
Note : When you unplug the charger, the phone will switch off.
Method 3 - Menu :
This method frees a little about 100~200 KB but I guess it's useful sometime.
Close your menu not by selecting the right selection key "exit", or pressing the menu key another time. Tthey only hide the menu application but do not close it. Tto close it, select the left selection key "option" and scroll down and select "exit".
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:11 Cant Uninstall Applications via Manager?
When you cant uninstall an application (most of the time Java games) using the Manager function of the phone, then do this.
Install FExplorer.
Launch it and go to the path/folder of the Application. I'm assuming you have install it to the MMC so the path would be something like :
E:\system\apps
and you will see lots of folders in there that is only labelled by numbers (for Java games/apps) or the name of the application. Go though them one by one. Open the text file in that folder to exactly know the name of the application in that particular folder if you dont see any icons or familiar name.
Then if its the correct folder, "move-out" of the folder, click on Options>File>Delete.
Then go to the Manager to uninstall it if its still listed.
Reboot
.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:14 Disabling Sound of Multimedia Key
Some people do not like the sound of multimedia key. Some of the latest S60 phones add a new key, called Multimedia key, which is used to display additional shortcuts on the screen. By default, if you press they key, it produces sound.
http://i15.tinypic.com/3zl95cp.jpghttp://i12.tinypic.com/33jqmmt.png
We can disable this sound by pressing Multimedia key and then select Configure menu. At the end of the settings, there is Sounds option. If we change this to output, pressing Multimedia key will not produce any sound.

mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 10:17 Fix for App close main error
Here is a description on how to fix the app closed main error, without formatting your phone!
* This fix was tested on a Nokia 6600 phone and it works.
1. Run any 3rd party application like FExplorer.
http://i12.tinypic.com/4gs7p6f.jpg
2. Follow this path: C:\system\bootdata\ and highlight the FirstBoot.dat file as seen on the image below.
http://i18.tinypic.com/2wh1pht.jpg
3. Choose Options --> File --> Delete.
http://i16.tinypic.com/2lxi5g3.jpg
4. That's it,
Now turn off your phone and remove your MMC card.
Switch the phone on, without the MMC card (you will probably need to type in time and date).
Switch the phone off.
Put the MMC card back into your phone.
Switch phone on, but this time without the ugly app closed main error.
Note : If you want to avoid confusing or messed up menus after you have applied this fix, do the following before applying the fix...
First of all, you need to make a back up of your applications.dat file before following the next steps.
http://i12.tinypic.com/43ze33p.jpg
Run FExplorer, follow the path C:\System\Data and select applications.dat
Choose Options --> Edit --> Copy and paste it in some secure place (a folder in E
So if u want your menu setup back after making the fix, all you need to do is copying backup file of applications.dat over the existing one ( C:\system\data\ ). Don't worry about the warning message asking if you want to overwrite...Just press Yes.
mackyclee 15th Jul '08 Tue, 12:21 SPEED UP 6600
I've already seen many threads but they doesn't gave an eyewitnessing true working method. Here I'm gonna show you something.
First thing is make yourself a true leecher.
I mean download TOO MANY java applications, games and symbian plus dozens of themes at very first.
Now install them and apply eye catching themes and see your 6600 going down in speed.
Don't worry! It was just to tell you what actually makes the mobile slow down. Applying themes or installing JAVA (a third party applicant) applications makes your mobile slow down.
SOLUTION:-
What you have to do is first apply as simple theme as
you can apply. Using Default theme is best of all.
Now keep your settings of Voice Recorder, Camera and Video Recorder such that everything recorded or captured goes in just Phone memory and NOT in MMC card.
You can have quality at your choice.
Ok above were easy ones. Now some *REAL* METHODS:
Change your "Log" settings to keep calls data only for 1 day(for best, change it to OFF if possible).
Next, use X-Plore or FExplorer or SeleQ or FileMan or any file explorer and locate Install.log (C:\System\Install\Install.log) and delete it!
Yes seriously delete it! Locate the file with same name under MMC Card (E:\Sys....) also and delete it.
YOU WILL SEE THE CHANGE YOURSELF
Some Important Point:
1. Bigger the memory card in memory, more it slows down your phone.
2.Increasing RAM doesn't boost up the performance or speed.
3.Its not about size, its all about number of applications or games you install on your device or Memory card. E.g. If you have TENS of games and softwares, your phone will hang more than one who have THOUSANDS of songs or videos!
4.Don't mess up with your phone's internal system.
