Here is another similar userbar tutorial I found.

USERBARS TUTORIAL

1. To create a normal userbar we first need to create the pattern, that is the stripes that you see in the background. To do that just open Photoshop (we're using Adobe Photoshop CS right now), select 'File' and then 'New..'. Create a 6x6 file with Transparent as the background color. Look at the pic:

http://www.userbars.org/1.gif

2. Now you should see that new document, something like the picture below, now Zoom it to around 1600%.

http://www.userbars.org/2.gif

3. Now with your pencil tool, not the brush one (to select pencil right click on the brush tool), with 1px diameter selected, so we can make really thin stripes, draw dots diagonally, like this:

http://www.userbars.org/3.gif

4. Now it's time to save it as a pattern, since this is not the userbar yet. To save it as a pattern go to 'Edit' and select 'Define Pattern', there you go, just name something.

http://www.userbars.org/4.gif

5. Pattern was sucessfuly saved, now it's time to build our userbar. Just create a new file again, but this time with this size: 350x20.

http://www.userbars.org/5.gif

Now select some colors to fill your background, normally we just two colors, you can choose them in those 2 squares on the left, these ones:

http://www.userbars.org/6.gif

6. With the Gradient tool selected, click on the top of your document and drag the mouse until the end of it. It will create something like this (we have chosen 2 gray colors), and the red circle you see there is the gradient tool:

http://www.userbars.org/7.gif

7. Now that we have the background color, let's fill it with the patter that we previous made. Go to Edit > Fill and the choose the pattern that you have created.

http://www.userbars.org/8.gif

8. Your image will get those diagonal lines, dont worry if you see them a little bit messed up, just zoom out to 100% and you'll see everything's fine:

http://www.userbars.org/9.gif

9. Now if you know a little bit about layers and filling you can play with them so the diagonal bars dont get too visable, you can create a new layer, and fill it with a brighter color and then change it's opacity.

10. Now we only need to add the text and a image. The image it's up to you, incorporate one as you like. The text should be written with a bitmap font, download a font called Visitor from www.dafont.com and then use it. In this example below, we've used the Visitor -BRK- font, size: 10, character space: 25, anti-aliasing: none (very important otherwise, the text will get that blurry effect). [InstilledBee: visitor_font.zip is attached at the bottom of this post]

http://www.userbars.org/10.gif

11. Optionally, you can create a new layer bellow the text one and with the Elliptical Marquee Tool, create an oval effect, from top left corner to top right corner, fill it and then change the oppacity. The final thing to do is to stroke the entire userbar with a 1px black line (inside), to do that just a create a new layer on top of all the others, it should be transparent and stroke it.

Visitor Font:

6039

Here is my own version of the userbar tutorial(ung steps na ginagawa ko, di ung mga tutorials na yan)... share ko lang

1. Create a new Photoshop document with dimensions 350x20. If you make userbars often it would be best to save this as a preset, such as in the image.

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/4044/psuserbar1fr6.jpg

2. Once you have a new image, select your gradient tool and place a gradient on the whole image. You can create either a (a)horizontal gradient or a (b)vertical gradient

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6792/psuserbar2aj0.jpg

-OR-

http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/6678/psuserbar2bhl1.jpg

The colors you choose for the gradient, for a good effect, must match the colors of the base image you have.

3. After that, create a new layer from the background. Go to [Layer] menu, select [New] and choose [Layer from Background].

http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/2002/psuserbar3qj9.jpg

You should then see "Layer 0" replace the "Background" layer.

http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/3940/psuserbar4dh0.jpg

4. The reason we created Layer 0 is to apply Layer Effects to it. Go to [Layer] menu, select [Layer Styles] and choose [Bevel and Emboss]

Once the dialog box appears, set the depth to 75% and the size to 3.

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/5295/psuserbar5lr5.jpg

Then in that same dialog box click on "Stroke" to add that style. Once the "Stroke" style settings appear, set the size to 1, the color to black(or whatever you think is fit for the userbar), and the position to Inside.

http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/2185/psuserbar6jx3.jpg
If you've set the style settings right your userbar should now look something like this:

http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8950/psuserbar7ob0.jpg

5. After that you can now add your image, and text. For the text's font I recommend Visitor TTF(see previous tutorial or download from DAFont (http://www.dafont.com) and search for "Visitor"), but you can use any font you like, just keep it at a reasonable size so that it doesn't overhaul the whole userbar(a size between 8 and 14 is good).

@kabayan same as animating a regular image din... na pwede mo rin sya i-edit sa imageready just like any other sig or avatar. it's up to you din kasi kung paano mo iaanimate ang ganitong tipo ng image (userbar). keep in mind nga lang na maliit ang canvass. :D
