Network Engineers for Verizon in Alabang.
Functional Responsibilities:
The professional filling this position will be responsible for a wide range of activities surrounding the maintenance and support of Verizon Business-managed customer networks. These activities will include network surveillance, issue triaging, circuit testing and repair, router configuration management and hardware replacement.
Requirements
• Performing testing and diagnostic procedures on new and existing circuits according to published standards for IP, PIP/MPLS, and data services and voice access services
• Working on extended time tickets, chronic issues, repeat failure, and particularly challenging tickets
• Interfacing with external resources, such as partner, PTT, carrier, and other access providers, and internal resources on the isolation and repair of customer telecommunications services
• Supporting network teams in isolating network issues on trunks or equipment, including identifying suspected network issues and escalating to the network team
Required Qualifications/Skills:
This individual will work on a variety of different transport media, including analog, Optical Carrier, DSL and WiFi and will need a strong understanding of these different network topologies.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
This individual must also possess a solid understanding of TCP IP, including sub-netting, routing protocols and the OSI model. Included in this work will be a significant amount of direct customer interaction along with cooperative work with a variety of Verizon Business groups around the world. Outstanding communication skills are mandatory. Problems are varied and range from simple to complex, sometimes demanding significant research and analysis. In addition, the candidate will be working in a 7x24 environment and must be prepared to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays. While common processes are expected to be executed, many issues demand independent thinking. A Bachelors, technical degree or equivalent is required along with at least 2 years of IP networking experience. In addition, network certifications are desired and
Your skills and qualifications as a Network Engineer will ideally include:
• Relevant experience in electronics, engineering, related field
• English, Cantonese and Mandarin language skills to a business standard, including telecommunications terminology
• Demonstrable leadership qualities, including assisting other Network Engineers on general issues, and directing external and internal resources
• Relevant level of knowledge of telecommunications equipment, processes and systems, including IP technical skills on Cisco routers, PIP, Ethernet, and data and transmission skills for Frame Relay, ATM, Digital Cross Connects, Multiplexers and SDH
• The flexibility to undertake regular, rotating shift work in a 24 x 7 environment, with on-call duties may also be required
• Recent graduates may be considered for Apprentice Telecom Technician roles
