Hello mga ka Unit:thumbsup:

Due to Insisting Public Demand...I made this new Thread for our

Netphone 701 also known as ZTE BLADE V880 :welcome:

This thread is designed to explain what you're doing and how you do it.

Here are some useful Information about our Unit..

Smart Netphone 701 (ZTE Blade V880) Android Smartphone Price, Features and Expectations: In the Philippines, if you hear about ZTE, the first thing that comes to mind is the ZTE Broadband scandal which rocked the nation a couple of years back. However, among us mobile geeks, ZTE is an entirely different thing.

It actually is a Chinese corporation that manufacturers mobile devices and tablet computers among others. In fact, after the scandal died down, ZTE is still alive and kicking and has actually been unaffected by the negative publicity caused by the scandal that involved several “illustrious” members of our political system.

And once again, the Chinese manufacturer is again trying to take ahold of our collective sensibilities by coming up with the ZTE Blade V880 which happens to be the base phone used for the Smart Netphone. We take the V880 for a spin and try to discern as to what stuff it is made of and see for ourselves if Smart Communications did the right thing in partnering with ZTE to give us the Smart Netphone.

Having said that, we therefore ask if the NetPhone 701 can actually deliver the promises of our country’s biggest telco. What kind of specs sheet does it bring to the table? How much will it be once it hits the shelves? What features does it boast of? Then read on to get a better feel for the ZTE Blade V880.

Design and construction

With its ugly black slab of plastic form factor common among currently available smartphones in the market, the Blade V880 measures 116 x 56.5 x 11.8 mm and weighs in at a scant 110 grams. With its slim profile and its being lightweight, the Blade V880 can easily be shoved onto your denim’s front pocket. The only snag we can find here is the utterly monotonous ugly black slab kind of form factor that it packs.

Despite that, and despite the connotation that Chinese products, especially mobile phones, it is quite surprising for the Blade V880 to give off that impression of being solidly-built. We tried pressing on several parts of the device with much more pressure but the handset remained rock-steady. This means that ZTE was thoughtful enough to make use of premium materials in the handset’s construction.

Under the hood

Under the hood though is something that we don’t usually see in our reviews section – a midrange device, which is what the Blade V880 really is. For its processor, it relies on an ARM 11 CPU that has a clock speed of a mere 600MHz. The processor though sits atop a QualComm MSM7227 chipset and sits right next to the handset’s dedicated Adreno 200 GPU.

Though the Blade V880 only packs 512MB of RAM that works with the processor of the device, it also has 512MB of ROM for added support. In terms of storage space, the handset disappoints with its measly 150MB of internal storage. No worries though since the handset packs a dedicated media card slot for memory expansion. The slot can actually handle high-capacity microSD card slots of up to 32GB.

The display

Display-wise though, the Blade V880 compensates for its somewhat lacking components under the hood. The handset packs a 3.5-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and 256K colors. Like most Droids available today, the display of the device supports multi-touch input while at the same time has the usual array of integrated sensors such as accelerometer and proximity sensor for added functions.

The shooters, I mean the shooter

Sad to say, in keeping with its being a midrange device, the Blade V880 only packs one camera to boot. It is a 3.15-megapixel shooter found at the rear panel of the device and only has autofocus and no LED flash. It is capable of geotagging though and has a video mode which can be toggled to capture video clips. Sad to say, no front camera is to be found on the device so video calls in this device is somewhat lacking due to this omission.

Battery life

The Blade V880 packs a 1250 mAh standard Lithium-Ion power pack that makes the juice of the handset to last up to 4 hours of talk time up to 192 hours of standby time. As always, these numbers are from the company which means that the facts need to be taken with a grain of salt especially that no real world tests can be found with regard to the longevity of the handset’s power pack.

The bottom line

Though Smart Communications promises a lot of exciting things that one could do with the ZTE Blade V880, we still found the device rather lacking in terms of the components under the hood. Well, what can we expect especially if this device is obviously a midrange handset, right? However, rumors have it that this will go for PHP a sub-10K price here in our country (Actual Initial price is 7,000 to 8,000 Pesos August 2011 then at about last minute of 2011 it raised up to 9,999 pesos). If that holds to be true, then Cherry Mobile has got some serious competition with the ZTE Blade V880.

Smart Netphone 701 (ZTE Blade V880) Android Smartphone Price in the Philippines is now 4,999 pesos only:yipee:

Section 1: Theory and Explanation

Gen1/Gen2:

The ZTE Blade comes in two versions, Gen1 and Gen2. The difference is something in the memory layout that most people don't need to understand, Gen2 also contains an updated radio image. What it does mean is that you can't install a gen1 rom on a gen2, or vice-versa. I will post links to various custom roms at the end of this thread for both. Alternatively, you can actually change your Gen, but that will be discussed in Post 4.

TPT:

TPT is like ultimate Brick Protection. If you have ever looked at GParted from Linux it may be easier to understand, but essentially, it is a complete disk image of the entire phone. So no matter how messed up your phone becomes, whether you delete partition x, or remove the most important system files, you can just flash a new TPT, and your back to normal. This is not a rom, it is simply an image your phone.
Some TPTs contain only Recovery, whilst others are full systems. If you flash a TPT which contains only a recovery you should have a Rom ready to flash, which is for the correct gen of your phone.
A TPT image differs for Gen1 and 2. The layout/structure and the format of TPTs differs between Gen1 and Gen2. A TPT does not change the very lowest level firmware, however for all Rom purposes, it can serve as the TPT flashed. A TPT for a GenX will be very different and unflashable on a GenY. However a GenA TPT image can be modified so it is very similar to a GenB.

A Stock Gen1, can be upgraded to Gen2, with a TPT that is designed for a Gen1 but includes Gen2 Files.
A Stock Gen1 cannot be upgraded to a Gen2 with a TPT that is designed for a Gen2 and includes Gen2 files.

A Stock Gen2, can be downgraded to Gen1, with a TPT that is designed for a Gen2 but includes Gen1 Files.
A Stock Gen2 cannot be downgraded to a Gen1 with a TPT that is designed for a Gen1 and includes Gen1 files.

This can get confusing, but if you imagine there are two layers to the TPT. Theres the Hardware Base, and the Software Part. The base NEEDs to be for the Gen you were when you bought the phone, but the Software Part can be for either.
So no matter what you do TPTwise, your Gen1 phone cannot TPT a TPT image with a base of a Gen2. However, if you upgrade your Gen1 with a base of Gen1 but a software of Gen2, you can flash Gen 2 roms from recovery.
Note that the difference is not really hardware and software.

Post 4 Will discuss TPT and Windows Flashing in further detail, as it is risky and not really relevant for most purposes.

Root:

Root allows you to have complete control of the phone at the OS level (nothing to do with TPT or recovery). Once rooted you can browse system directories, and modify pretty much everything, and also install a custom recovery image. I will explain how to root at the end of this post

Recovery:

Recovery is one step below TPT, and is a mini system that can be used to manipulate and flash / format the other partitions. It is at the same level as the Android System, and is stored on one of the partitions. Therefore it can be modified or overwritten, either from Android, or via TPT.
Recovery can be used to flash custom roms, factory reset, wipe cache, and other advanced features.
Normal Recovery is pretty rubbish, however a custom recovery can be flashed.
One example is the infamous ClockWorkMod Recovery, which is related to the app Rom Manager.
If you are trying to flash a custom rom, I would recommend first installing ClockWorkMod Recovery, which I will explain how to do at the end of the post. If I say recovery, CWM or ClockWorDMod (my common typo) then I am referring to ClockWork Mod recovery.

Custom Roms:

Before I begin I will just explain some jargon, and the terminology I will use.
For most phones, a Rom means two things. One is the system the Rom actually is (for example Android v2.3.4 with modified X and theme Y). The other is the Rom .zip that is installable via Recovery.
However the ZTE Blade includes a TPT feature, and this can make certain terms misleading and complicated.
Therefore I will use:
-Android System / Custom Rom / Stock Rom as System
-Custom Rom (the system) as Custom Rom or Custom System
-A .zip installable Rom as Rom
-A TPT image as a TPT image
-The verb to TPT as TPT
-To flash a .zip Rom as flash
-To flash a TPT as to TPT it.

Your new android smartphone is more like your computer than you may realize. The Recovery is similar to BIOS, various internal partitions are the sytem folders (Windows, Program Files... if you're on Windows) and the SD-Card are the documents on the hard drive. If you haven't already realized, you can pop any bootable media into your computer, whether its the Windows XP installation disc, or a USB disk containing a Portable OS into your computer, and you're good to go. This is what happens normally when your computer loads the System Files off your HDD. Even if you recieve a horrible virus, you can simply put in your OS installation disk, wipe, and install a clean copy.

Your phone's recovery is fairly similar, as long as you have a recovery.
You can use ClockWorkMod, to wipe your phone, flash a clean / stock or custom system, partition your SD-Card and many other features.
If you have not heard of Custom Roms / Systems before, then you should probably not be using them, but everybody needs to start somewhere A CUSTOM System is a modified version of the Android System, tweaked for performance or functionality. Stock and Custom Systems are installable and distributed via two methods
- A .zip rom that is flashable from recovery (if custom system, needs CWM first)
- A TPT image, that will completely wipe the phone, then rebuild the partitions, with all the System files already in place.

When people say rom, they are either referring to the system or the .zip method of distributing the rom. It is unlikely to be a TPT unless stated so.

Section 2: Practical Usage

Before you do anything, install "ask mr pigfish" from market, and it will tell you your Gen.
You can see links before reply
This section is not a guide to follow step by step. Follow the sections you want to.
If you're going to do any flashing or recovery or custom rom mod stuff, you will probably need to root.

Please read the TPT explanation in Section 1, it will tell you what to flash and what to not.

Guide to Rooting:

Enable USB Debugging:
Settings-->Applications-->Development-->USB Debugging (tick)
Download the attached file (z4 root) onto your computer and placed it any where in your MMC.
Install Astro File Browser from the market. You can see links before reply
Download the file on your computer, then copy it across to somewhere on your phone
Browse to that somewhere and click on the file. Open app manager and click install.
After installation, click open.
Tell it to do Permanent Root
Wait for it to reboot
Done.

Installing Systems (Roms)

There are many ways to get a system onto your phone, depending on it's method of distribution. The most common is to flash a rom from recovery. Another is to flash an image from TPT which includes the system already in place. Flashing from recovery is like installing off the Installation Disc, and using TPT is wiping the phone, and putting the partitions in place with the system files already on. For example:
-You could manually install ClockWorkMod from Android, and flash ROM X from there
-You could flash ClockWorkMod from a TPT image, then flash ROM X from ClockWorkMod
-Or you could you could flash an full TPT image which already contains ROM X.

Recovery: Installing ClockworkMod Recovery

Once installed, ClockWorkMod is good brick-protection and will allow to flash custom roms and perform factory resets. Recovery is at the same level as the Android System, and is wiped when using a TPT. It is installable from the Android System or by wiping a TPT.

Gen 2 Only

Install Rom Manager (free or premium) from the Android Market -
You can see links before reply
Open Rom Manager and Select "Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery" then "ZTE Blade". It will then proceed to flash.
Note!!: You may be asked for root permissions. Just click allow.
Done!

How to flash a rom (overview)

First off, you need to know how the Rom is distributed / packaged / installed.

If a Rom, you will need CWM. The two methods of installing ClockWorkMod are described in the next section.
Once CWM is installed, provided you are the right Gen for the rom, reboot into CWM, by turning off, removing then putting the battery back in, then turn on whilst holding Vol Down. You should then choose “wipe data/factory reset”. Use the volume keys to move up and down, and the home button to select. Select Yes. Do the same for cache. Open advanced and wipe dalvik cache. Use the back button to return. You should then choose Apply/Install zip from SD-Card, and select the Rom you wish to flash.
Done!

Cyanogenmod

If you want to use Cyanogenmod imply install ClockWorkMod Recovery (as explained earlier), then install from ClockWorkMod Recovery (as explained earlier).

Using TPTs:

Firstly, TPT installations are outside all partitions and recoveries, its like God. It is not affected by the Android System, and has nothing to do with root or recovery.
Read the section on TPTs in section 1. It will explain what you should and should not TPT.
You need to get the TPT "image" folder on your SD-Card. If you are bricked, you will need to take it out and use a card-reader or other device. Download the TPT you want, extract it, and copy the “image” folder to the root of your SD-Card. Power on with Menu and Vol + held. It will begin wiping, and repartitioning + Flashing your phone. If you choose an image with simply ClockWorkMod installed you will also need a Rom ready to flash if you want to use your phone.
You can flash any Gen, just make sure you only use roms for that Gen.
If you have TPT enabled, you can use TPT to switch between Gens. If a rom is provided as a TPT, but is said to be for the other Gen you do not need to worry as the TPT will change it anyway.
To recap:
TPT is disk image, will wipe + repartition the phone
May or may not include a System
Gens can be switched between
Image folder must be at SD-Card root.
Boot holding Menu and Vol+ held.
Gen2 Phones need to re-enable TPT, by following steps in Post4
If or once you have TPT, you are 99.9999999% unbrickable
If or once you have TPT Gen does not matter.

Roms:

Roms are not to be confused with TPTs. Roms are flashable from recovery, and include all the files neccessary for the Android System. They are like an OS installation disc.

[SIZE="4"]Summary of installing Custom / Stock Roms:

If a TPT:

Extract and copy image folder to SD-Card root. Boot with Menu + Vol+ held.

If a 'normal' rom:

Put the .zip on SD-Card
Install ClockWorkMod using either way:
Either Flash ClockWorkMod TPT (make sure correct Gen)
Or Root, and use manual method.
Then boot into ClockWorkMod, (Menu + Vol-)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Advanced-->Wipe Dalvik Cache

Apply zip from SD-Card, and select the rom you want to flash.

If you brick:

You WILL need to be able to access the SD-Card (external) from your computer, either by card-reader, another device, or something else.

If you've finished reading this post and fully understand the contents, proceed to the NEXT POST for rooting, flashing and backup guides

UPDATE!!!! 4.23.2012

IF YOUR UNIT GOT BRICKED YOU CAN CONSIDER IT A "HALF DEAD" ONE...THAT IS WHY I TRIED TO COPY AND EDIT SOME OF THE GUIDELINES ON HOW TO RESCUE OR SAVE A BRICKED UNIT..

de-bricking a ZTE Blade Recovering from a bad flash – Netphone ZTE Blade, Libra,V880

How to recover a ZTE Blade/Libra/v880 after a bad flash?

This guide is meant to help you to recover from a bad flash. It assumes at the very least that you cannot boot android, and can help you as long as your phone can boot into download mode.
It has described many ways to unbrick in order of increasing difficulty and risk.

1.Use only the first method that works.

2.These instructions will wipe everything on your phone’s internal memory.

3. Before you follow any of them, charge your battery and have a good night’s sleep.

Special Case - corrupted NV memory

If your phone was flashed via windows and will not boot into anything except recovery mode (i.e. FTM mode or clockworkmod), even if you install a compatible ROM and boot normally, then the problem is usually corrupt NV memory. You must use method 4 to solve this problem. You can often solve it by following only the instructions to restore your IMEI (skipping the flashing part), but you may need to do the whole lot.

Method 1: CLOCKWORKMOD

1.Turn your phone on with volume down held. If it boots into clockwork, then you should be able to fix it from there.

2. In clockworkmod ,Go to “backup and restore” and perform a backup of your current setup.

3.Go to “mounts and storage” and select mount USB storage.

4. Connect the phone to a computer and copy your backup from the clockworkmod directory to your computer.

5. Download a Gen1 or Gen2 ROM and copy it to your SD card (not a stock ROM, since it will overwrite clockworkmod). If you are not sure, try installing both Gen1 and Gen2 ROMs.

6.Go to “mounts and storage” and format boot, system, data, cache, and sd-ext.

7.Go to “install zip from SD card” and install the ROM you have downloaded.

8. Restart your phone when it is finished.

Method 2: FASTBOOT

Fastboot is a method of flashing a recovery image to your phone from a computer (which can be running Windows). It does not work with Blades that are running stock Gen2 firmware (i.e. upgraded to stock Gen2 via windows or upgraded to android 2.2 by an official update) unless both the recovery and boot partitions are completely unbootable.

For all platforms

1.Download and extract the file to your pc You can see links before reply which contains both fastboot and clockworkmod for Gen1 and Gen2.

2.Turn on your phone with volume up held and connect it to your computer. It should not progress beyond the green android. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for the computer to recognise it.

3.Download and install the ZTE Handset drivers You can see links before reply Your phone should be listed as "Fastboot Interface" under "ADB Interfaces".

4.Run windows-flash-gen1-recovery.bat to flash Gen1 clockworkmod, or windows-flash-gen2-recovery.bat to flash gen2 clockworkmod.

5.After rebooting with volume down held, you should be able to flash a ROM in clockworkmod.

Method 3: TPT
TPT is a way of flashing part of the low-level firmware on your phone. After successfully flashing the files below you will regain access to clockworkmod. You need a different type of TPT depending on what variant of the Blade you have. If you have a China Unicom v880 or any other Chinese variant then you must not flash a TPT designed for European Blades like netphone 701, and vice versa. Be aware that flashing a modified or corrupt TPT can permanently brick your phone. Choose the appropriate file below.

European Gen1 TPT You can see links before reply
Use this if your phone is a European GSM variant and if it is Gen1 or has been upgraded to Gen2 via TPT. This will flash stock Gen1 firmware.

European Gen2 TPT (ZTE Blade Netphone 701) You can see links before reply
Use this if your phone is a European GSM variant and if it was sold as Gen2 or upgraded to stock Gen2 via windows. This will flash stock Gen2 firmware.

China Unicom v880 Gen2 TPT You can see links before reply
Use this if your phone is a China Unicom v880 (unsure, but may work on Chinese u880/x880). This will flash the stock Gen2 firmware taken from the B15 android 2.2.2 update.

Flashing a TPT

1.Download the applicable TPT file from above.

2.Unzip and put the “image” folder onto the root directory of your SD card.

3.Disconnect and reconnect your SD card and check the integrity of the TPT files. There is a file called "image.hash" in the image folder which contains all the files' md5 hashes in plain text. Make sure that the md5 of all the files match, or you may brick your phone.

4.Turn on your phone with the SD card inserted and with menu and volume up held.

5.The screen will either stay black or show green text (if you see the green android immediately then it didn't work), and will restart into clockworkmod when done. Wait at least 5 minutes for it to restart if you don’t see anything.

6.When it is finished (even if it didn't work), then remove the image directory from the SD card to prevent accidental flashing later on.

You can now flash a ROM using clockworkmod. If it doesn't work, then using a different SD card may help. If you have a European variant then it is safe to try both Gen1 and Gen2 TPTs separately in case you have made a mistake.

Some useful set up tips

1. If the in call proximity sensor does not work correctly then go to Settings -> Device Settings -> Calibrate proximity sensor.

2. If you use the auto backlight and it's not working well for you, follow this...

They are brightness ranges that you need to tweak in CyanogenMod Settings:

Menu...Settings...SyanogenMod settings...Display...Automatic Backlight...

- make sure there is a tick in "Use Custom" and "Allow light decrease"

- then click Edit other levels...

- scroll down to "Set number of levels" and change it to 10.

- then for each of the ranges in the other post set the Lower
number (the Upper will auto calculate as you add levels) and the desired Screen brightness level

- If you put a value of 255 for Buttons then the hard buttons will be lit as well (use 255 for first 2 levels, 0 for rest)

My own levels are:

Lower-Upper = Screen

0-9 = 20
10-19 = 35
20-49 = 50
50-99 = 70
100-199 = 90
200-499 = 110
500-999 = 140
1000-2999 = 190
3000-4999 = 230
5000-infinity = 255

Enjoy!

3. For a good balance between battery life and performance I recommend you go into Settings -> Cyanogenmod Settings -> Performance -> CPU Settings and change the governor to SmartAssV2

4. To see battery percentage on the status bar, go to Settings -> Cyanogenmod Settings -> Interface -> Status Bar Tweaks -> Battery Style

5. If you have trouble with your homescreen lagging when you return from an app, go to Settings -> Cyanogenmod Settings -> Performance and put a tick in 'lock home in memory'

Enjoy!!

IT TAKES ONE SECOND TO SAY THANKS!

By the way here are some FAQS tweaks:

FAQs and Tweaks:

--Battery Efficiency

Set Smartassv2 Governor: Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Performance > CPU settings > Available governors.

Don't forget to select "Set on boot".

You can also set the Minimum CPU frequency to 122 MHz to save some battery.

Disable automatic rotation:[/B] Settings > Display > Auto-rotate screen (sensor is zipping more battery juices).

Don't use automatic brightness for it will drain your battery juices fast (Tested by Me)

--Tweaks

On Launcher Pro, set the Application drawer opening speed: "Menu button" > Preferences > Advanced Settings > (App Drawer) Opening Speed > Set to "7". It will be similar to the speed which other system applications start up.

Eco CM9 - Aiming for stability and battery efficiency

The Main goal with this ROM is to share regarding improving battery efficiency and ROM stability

So, here you won't find state-of-the-art builds (like Coldfusion or KonstaT's builds), but builds which are more stock CM9 and patched with (or without) everything possible to make it more battery-wise.

Details:
ICS 4.0.4 (CM9)
Kernel 2.6.35
Gen 2
Latest Stable Build:You can see links before reply
Mini Gapps:You can see links before reply

Not working:
Panorama
FM Radio
(For me,It is OK not to have this two FUNCTIONS...After all I seldom use them or most likely I did'nt use at all)

Add-ons: (ECO-CM9 Themes)
ThemeManager: You can see links before reply

Thanks to the Original DEVELOPER and SUPPORTERS

Just to share to you guys...SAAN KA PA??..SA STABLE ROM NA.

For those who organize thier .apk files

How to get the icon of .apk files easily?

1. Be sure you have "7zip" installed on your computer.
2. Choose your .apk file you want and right-click it choose "7zip" then "Open archive".
3. After that open the "res" folder
4. Again open the "drawable folder"(if there are multiple folder just choose "drawable-hdpi" you can get high quality icon here)
5. And finally find the "icon.png" and then drag&drop this to your desktop or your chosen foder.
* note some .apk files have different name of "icon.png" but you can easily determine what is the "icon of the app" just choose the file with the extension of .png
* all of the icons have the extension of .png
* there are multiple files that had an extension of .png but you only choose the correct "icon of the app"

For those who organize thier .apk files

How to get the icon of .apk files easily?

1. Be sure you have "7zip" installed on your computer.
2. Choose your .apk file you want and right-click it choose "7zip" then "Open archive".
3. After that open the "res" folder
4. Again open the "drawable folder"

Thank you for sharing

ZTE Blade Unlock Code Generator

This is the ZTE Blade Unlock Code Generator!

No more messy websites, publishing IMEI, or anything else like that! A simple application, your phone, and a locked carrier's SIM is what you need!

Requirements:

1. A PC with Windows XP (and up) installed

2. .Net Framework 2.0

3. ZTE Blade phone

4. Locked carrier's SIM

To-do:

1. Download application, and run it!

2. Use *#06# in dialer, type in IMEI into first field!

3. Press generate

3. Now switch off your phone, insert the locked SIM card, and switch it on

3. When prompted, enter code from second field.

4. Your phone is now unlocked!

WARNING!

Unlocking voids warranty and also, in some countries, unlocking is ILLEGAL! So anything happens to your device, it is YOUR fault, not mine! You've been warned!

punta ka Settings > Applications > Development
tapos uncheck mo yung Android debugging
or USB debugging (sa older ROMs)

Pag ka connect mo ng usb cable sa usb port ng PC mo lalabas yung USB CONNECTED and USB DEBUGGING CONNECTED...

Tick mo ung USB CONNECTED>then Tick mo uli ung TURN ON USB STORAGE>then tick OK...

Ok na yan connected na yan sa PC.:)
