View Full Version : Moderator Trainees

Some of you may not be aware of what Moderator is all about. You dont need special skills or knowledge to be one. All you need is proper judgment and consideration. But most of the moderators in any site doesnt really know that. They cant decide what thread to close, what thread to stick, what post to edit, what post to delete, when to be strict, when to be lenient, etc. etc. So they end up letting go of those situations to avoid mistakes. Not because they are incompetent, but due to the fact that each site has its own rules and style of forum management. But members might think otherwise. They might think that those moderators dont deserve the position since they're not doing their job.
So for the very first time in any site, here at Symbianize, we will train Symbianizers who are interested in becoming a moderator. We'll teach them how to become an effective Symbianize Moderator. We will be training Symbianizers for 1 month. After a month, depending on the Moderator Trainee's performance, there are 3 possibilities. He (or she) will be announced as the newest Symbianize Moderator, or he will be asked to try again next time, or his training will be extended. Those Moderator Trainees wont be competing with one another but themselves. So its possible for all them to be moderators at the same time and it is also possible that none of them will pass.
We believe that with this innovation of acquiring new moderators, not only we will have effective Symbianize Moderators, but also anyone who's interested in becoming a moderator will be given a chance.

Moderator Trainee Qualifications:
should be proactive
must have forum awareness (fully familiar with our existing rules)
been a member for over a month with at least 100 reputation points (reputation should display at least 2 greens - You can see links before reply)
preferably a PC user (moderating sometimes involves opening several windows and copy-pasting links which is more convenient when using a desktop or laptop computer)
How to Apply:
Answer the questions below. No silly or company manager level questions, just plain and simple, we even provide you sample answers. Just to give us an idea of your surfing habits here so we'll know where to assign you if chosen.
On average, how often do you login here in Symbianize? (ex. 3 hours a day & 5 days a week, 10 hours a day & 2 days a week, etc)
What time do you usually login (in philippine time)? (ex. 8am-10am & 9pm-12pm, 10am-5pm, etc)
Where do you usually login? (ex. home, work, school, internet shop, etc)
What sections of Symbianize are you most active (ex. Tones & Audios, Symbian Games, General Chat, etc)?
What do you use to connect to the internet (ex. PC, tablet, mobile phone, etc)?
Create a thread entitled 'Moderator Trainee Application' and post your answers here...
You can see links before reply (Moderator Training)
The Moderator Training is a private forum. No one will see your post or thread except you and the Trainee Coordinator. If you have any inquiries regarding Moderator Training, you may also post there instead.
Again please take note of the qualifications before creating your application thread. Your application will be deleted if your Symbianize account is less than a month old and/or you don't have at least 100 reputation points (reputation should display at least 2 greens like this... You can see links before reply ).

Due to time constraints and urgency to fill up the vacant moderator positions, we are bypassing the Moderator Training for now. All chosen Moderator Trainees are automatically assigned to Level 1 Moderator positions. This means they can start moderating the moment their usernames turn blue.
Those who already submitted their application please let us know if you're still interested by updating your thread here (You can see links before reply).
Previous moderators who still wishes to be part of the moderating team are welcome. Please send me a PM containing your desired forum assignments or post it here (You can see links before reply) and we will restore your moderator status.

Hello aspiring Moderators! We are starting our training again for the next Moderators of Symbianize.
Interested parties please read all previous posts in this thread to know if you're qualified to apply and how to apply if you're qualified.
Since the questions above were revised (see post#2 of this thread), those who already submitted their application prior to this post must update their thread in Moderator Training forum (You can see links before reply) and bump it by posting the answers to the 5 questions in post#2 of this thread.
This time you will know if you're not chosen within 7 days after you posted your application. Your thread will be closed if we think you're not ready yet for the Moderator Training or we currently don't need additional Moderators in the sections you're interested in. Your thread will remain open if we're considering you.

Application for moderator training is temporarily closed. We won't be able to make new post in Moderator Training forum (You can see links before reply). We are just
finishing up the training of our first batch of Moderator Trainees (MTs). We will start our search for 2nd batch of MTs as soon as the
1st batch completed their training.
If your application thread, with updated info not later than 24th Aug 2013, is still open ( no padlock sign - You can see links before reply ), it means you're added
to our shortlist of MTs. Currently there are 17 open threads. To improve your chances of getting picked, we suggest you become more
vigilant from now on. Show us that you're truly aware of our rules and you could enforce them well by using the report button to inform
our Moderators of rules violations. It will also help if you could spend more time in Computer Zone (You can see links before reply) and/or Symbianize Lounge (You can see links before reply) where
we'll be needing additional moderators. Again, application will re-open after the 1st batch of MTs are done with their training.
