Charice started to sing when she was only 4 years old. At age 9, she began joining amateur singing contests, from town fiestas in their province of Laguna to several televised competitions in her country. In 2005, Charice joined Little Big Star, a talent show in the Philippines loosely patterned after American Idol. Eliminated after her first performance, she was later called back as a wildcard contender. Charice worked her way up to the finals and eventually placed third.

Charice has referred to Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Regine Velasquez and Mariah Carey as her musical influences.

International performances

In 2007, a series of YouTube videos of Charice's performances posted by a user called FalseVoice brought her to the attention of Ten Songs/Productions based in Sweden. In June 2007, she flew to Stockholm, Sweden and recorded seven songs.

A video of Charice performing the Dreamgirls' anthem And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going became a hit on a UCC (user-created-content) video sharing site. This gained her an invite to perform the same song on Star King, a famous talent show in South Korea, in October 13, 2007. She was introduced as the "Little Whitney Houston".

In December 19, 2007, Charice flew to the United States for the first time after having been personally invited by Ellen Degeneres to perform on her show. She sang Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going.

In December 29, 2007, she once again performed as the Most Requested Foreign Act on Star King, performing Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive and a duet with Lena Park.

Right after her guesting on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Charice became an instant celebrity in the Philippines performing on different TV shows, becoming one of the most sought after young singers in the country.[citation needed]

In April 2008, Charice guested on The Paul O'Grady Show in England, performing two songs and earning standing ovations, the first in the show's history.[1]

In May 2008, Charice guested on The Oprah Winfrey Show in their World's Smartest Kids episode. She sang Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing.[1]

In the same month, Charice was introduced to the international concert arena by David Foster in his tribute concert, David Foster and Friends, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

In July 2008, Charice was personally invited by Andrea Bocelli to be one of his guests on his birthday concert, The Cinema Tribute, held in Lajatico, Italy. Aside from her solo performances, she did a duet of the song The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli.

On September 06, 2008, Charice performed before more than 50,000 football fans at Feyenoord's Centennial Anniversary, the Festival of the Century, in the Netherlands where she sang the team's theme song, You'll Never Walk Alone.

On September 09, 2008, Charice once again guested on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the Dreams Come True episode. Oprah referred to her as The Most Talented Girl in the World. She sang Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, with David Foster on piano. Oprah went on to surprise her with an appearance by Celine Dion via satellite, inviting her to sing a special duet at the Madison Square Garden as part of her Taking Chances world tour.

On September 13, 2008 she once again performed with David Foster in the David Foster & Friends Charity Gala & Concert at Winspeare Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

On September 15, 2008, Charice met with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden in New York to perform a duet of Because You Loved Me. They dedicated the song to Charice's mother. Her peformance with Celine got rave reviews in major newspapers namely The New York Post and The New York Times[citation needed]. The duet was eventually featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show on September 19, 2008.

In October 11, 2008, Charice performed at the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Benefit Concert at Wynn Las Vegas. She met her idol, Mariah Carey at this event.[2]

In October 25, 2008, Charice was invited to perform at the annual Carousel of Hope Ball 2008 in Beverly Hills, California. Born on June 13, 1983 in Downey, California, Conferido was raised in a strict religious household where dance was discouraged. He picked up bboying on his own in high school. In 2005, though he had no formal training, he decided to audition for the first season of the Fox dance competition So You Think You Can Dance. His impressive self-taught breakdancing style earned him rave comments from the judges and was eventually picked as one of the top 16 finalists for the show. On the premiere episode, his ability to pick up what seems to be a technically difficult Latin dance routine brought him a standing ovation. He proceeded through multiple rounds of eliminations, and was one of the last 16 dancers eliminated.
Prior to his fame in the Fox show, Conferido appeared in numerous movies as an extra.

Monique Lhuillier

Diane Monique Lhuillier (born 1971 in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines) is a Filipino fashion designer based in the United States.

Lhuillier's family is one of the more prominent in Philippine high society. They own a chain of pawnshops currently operating in more than a hundred cities in the nation.

Lhuillier demonstrated good taste and great imagination at an early age. At 15, she was an outstanding student in Lausanne, Switzerland and hoped to become successful in the fashion industry. Her parents sent her to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), where she met the man she married, Tom Bugbee.

Lhuillier and Bugbee, a young, dynamic husband and wife team, founded their company in 1996 and launched their first bridal collection. The line was extremely well-received by fashion-savvy brides, editors, and celebrities.

The breakthrough came after Monique designed the gowns for her wedding entourage. These captured the fancy of couture circles. Having had a difficult time finding her own gown, Lhuillier, a 23-year-old newlywed at the time, decided to begin sketching her own line of dresses. Her husband figured this was little more than a hobby, one that she would tire of soon enough. "He thought I had the wedding blues and eventually I'd get over it," she told USA WEEKEND Magazine. [1]

She made the news with two high-profile celebrity weddings in a row. She designed Christine Baumgartner's wedding dress for her Fall, 2004 wedding to Kevin Costner shortly after designing both of Britney Spears's dresses for her wedding to Kevin Federline. She's also designed the wedding gown of US former Vice President and former Second Lady Al and Tipper Gore's youngest daughter, Sarah G. Lee, for her marriage to Bill Lee[2], Giuliana DePandi's wedding gown to The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic[3], and Allison Munn's wedding gown to actor Scott Holroyd.[4]

Subsequently Lhuillier added evening wear to her line, and several of her efforts showed up on red carpets before awards shows. For the Fall, 2007 season she branched off into more typical runway collections.

He migrated to the United States in 1970, and became a citizen in 1976.[1] For a number of years, he was obliged to work under the name "Ernie Chua" as that name had been wrongfully entered on his U.S. immigration documents, but was later able to be credited under his given name.[2] [3]

The Philippine All-Stars are a hip-hop dance group. They won the 2006 and 2008 World Hip Hop Dance Competition.

the Philippine All-Stars that came in third place in the 2006 World Hiphop Championships and then this time won the gold in 2008, beating other hiphop dance teams from New Zealand, US, Mexico, Canada and more. Of course the story caught my attention as does anything that has the theme of Philippine pride

33 countries were represented by several groups with a total of 1,000 hiphop dancers taking to the stage. 12 finalists were chosen all-in-all to perform for the 2008 World Hiphop Championships, and joining the Philippine All-Stars were the likes of Kaba Modern (USA), Prestige (New Zealand), Xtreme Soul Style (Canada), Legacy (New Zealand) Eclectik (Trinidad & Tobago), Peridot (United Kingdom), Black Soul (Mexico), FLos Angeles (USA), Release (South Africa), Rockwell Family (Canada) and Phunk Phenomenon (USA).

Of course, the Philippine All-Stars turned out to be number one. Multi-Grammy award winner and competition judge MC “You Can’t Touch This” Hammer was quoted by ABS-CBN news correspondents as saying: “The Filipino artists… they continue to evolve in a global basis. They take art and dance seriously. I am very proud of the level that the Philippines overall has developed into.”

Judge Shane Sparks was also quoted saying: “Great kids, great dancers and choreographer… I think they’re some of the hottest dancers that touch the stage of America’s best dance crews and I know there’s more to come.”

Jason Day (born 12 November 1987) is a part-Filipino Australian professional golfer.
Day was born in Beaudesert, Queensland. His father took him to Beaudesert Golf Club and joined him as a junior member just past his sixth birthday. He was allowed to play six holes a day as a junior. At the age of eight his family moved to Rockhampton and during this period he began to win events in the surrounding districts. His father died when he was just 12 and he had a period where he was "lost".
Day's mother sent him to school at Koorlbyn, just a 30 minute drive south of Beaudesert. The Kooralbyn International School has a golf course attached. Later he was to go to Hills International College where they have a Golf Academy[1] at the behest of his coach, Col Swatton, who had moved there when Kooralbyn school closed down.
Day borrowed a book about Tiger Woods from his roommate and was inspired, by it, to improve his golf by practicing in the early morning, at lunch-time and in the evening. He used the book's reports of Woods's scores as his benchmark for improvement and as a reachable standard. His first big win was at the age of 13 in a 2000 Australian Masters junior event on the Gold Coast where he won with scores of 87, 78, 76 and 76.[2]
As an amateur, Day accumulated a great deal of success in Australia, twice being awarded the Australian Junior Order of Merit. He finished seventh and was the leading amateur at the Queensland Open. His amateur success extended to the United States where he won the Boys 15–17 division at the 2004 Callaway World Junior Championship and was runner-up in the 2005 Porter Cup.[3]
Day turned professional in July 2006 after winning the Green Jacket at the NEC Master of the Amateurs, signing with TaylorMade and adidas[4] and immediately began playing PGA Tour events, principally through sponsors' exemptions. He made the cut in five of his first six PGA Tour events as a pro with a best finish of eleventh at the Reno-Tahoe Open and with official winnings of over $160,000. He entered PGA Tour qualifying, or Q-School. Placed in the second of three rounds, he tied for first in his section of the second round, advancing to the Q-School finals. However, in the six-round finals he played poorly, shooting fifteen shots higher than the score needed to qualify. Accordingly, he failed to earn his 2007 PGA Tour card but earned conditional status on the Nationwide Tour for 2007.
Day won his first Nationwide Tour event in July 2007 at the Legend Financial Group Classic, becoming the youngest man to win on any of the PGA Tour's three tours.[5] The win jumped him to eighth on the Nationwide Tour's money list. He ended up finishing 5th on the money list to earn his PGA Tour card for 2008.

VJ ng MTV Hong KOng...:salute:

Mead has a Filipina mother, Josephine del Pilar Mead. Her biological father is of Persian descent[1]. When she was 6, she and her mother settled Adelaide, Australia, with her Australian step-father Leslie Bertram Mead. She was raised in Australia till she was 15, hence her rhotic Australian English accent.
Currently based in the Philippines, she is engaged to businessman Ian Angelo King.[citation needed] Mead can speak basic Tagalog and understands pure Tagalog.

She was a video jockey for Channel [V] International in Hong Kong from 1996 to 2000. With over 30 Philippine magazine covers ,she has done numerous TV commercials,Ad campaigns & magazine covers in Singapore, Malaysia,Thailand, Japan & Indonesia. She has lived & worked in New York as a Ford model & is currently with Ford Los Angeles & San Francisco.
Mead was the first philippine model to lead in a Head & shoulders shampoo commercial, and a Lexus car commercial both aired in the United States and Canada.
In 2008, a photo of Mead wearing the Philippine flag as a body suit in a magazine cover caused an uproar in local media. In defense, Mead said:
Yes, I wore a representation of the Philippine flag on a magazine cover. This image for me is something that is inspiring, the same way sports brands have produced their Philippine flag-inspired track sports jackets and limited edition shoes. It is the same logic why people put Philippine flag or map tattoos on their bodies...
When you’ve done as many magazine covers as I have, you’d want to do something that meant more to you — this means a lot to me, it represents my work, and I’m not embarrassed about the female form. I wanted to make a statement. I wanted to be part of something that breaks the “rules” and provoke people to think and feel...[2]
Of her work, Mead has said, "I’m a proud female Filipina, and I want women to feel the same way.
