View Full Version : favorite romance novel and why?
aqualilly 15th Jan '09 Thu, 22:48 i'm a big romance novel fan. my favorite authors include johanna lindsey, judith mcnaught, julia quinn and lisa kleypas. i was just wondering if we could start a book club of some sort and discuss our favorite books.. :yipee:
for example, the wallflower series from lisa kleypas.. my favorite couples would have to be simon and annabelle (secrets of a summer night) as well as st. vincent and evie (devil in winter)..
the reason why i like secrets of a summer night is because you could really see simon's devotion to annabelle, and annabelle found it in herself to wed someone that wasn't necessarily part of her marry-a-peer campaign, but someone she could really love and was obviously devoted to her..
as for devil in winter, well, who wouldn't fall in love with st. vincent?! as they say, reformed rakes make the best husbands, and he was sweetly faithful to evie.. as for evie, seldom could you find a heroine who stammers and is painfully shy but could wrap her rake of a husband around her little finger..:praise:
what about you guys?:excited:
kimi 15th Jan '09 Thu, 23:08 hi aqua :hi:
i think a symbianize book club is a great idea and long overdue :yipee: you can create a new social group here (http://www.symbianize.com/group.php) :pacute:
i'm a big romance fan myself :D i've read a couple of lisa kleypas books and my fave one so far is Suddenly You :D haven't read the wallflower series but they're on my to-read-list ;)
other fave authors are jo lindsey, julie garwood and stephanie laurens ;)
khrystal 18th Feb '09 Wed, 16:50 A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux - the best romance story i've read so far. very engaging story.. very different from all the others i've read for this is the first time i read a novel that has time travel on it.
A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught - my favorite judith mcnaught novel. this book makes me cry in the end.
NOslipperyslope 6th Apr '09 Mon, 17:12 books books books.... nah...
there are lot of books, mouth-watering books i read... especially romance genre :yipee:
Lorraine Heath's Scoundrel of St. James books are the ones retained in my mind
Elizabeth Boyle's Danvers series are also imprinted in my romance novels memory bank hehe
I also like Shana Abe's The Secret Swan
there is this harlequin or mills and boon novel that shook me to the core... my bad, i don't remember the title - it goes like this... the girl is the boss's mistress but he kicked her out of his life because of a mistake (his mistake actually for not believing her), the girl back then was kidnapped with noone knew of her abduction and was released after 3 months of no ransom with the news that she's forgotten because of the traumatic event and she's pregnant of his baby... a novel of absolute forgiveness, it just made me cry... awwww
if possible i read historicals and contemporary ebooks before i up them, because i feel happy to share those i personally like
i really like romance novels :weep:
deanne723 17th Apr '09 Fri, 11:36 I'm into paranormal and sci-fi romance
I'd rather read continuous series.
on top of my list is JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood
I just find these males easy to fell in love with.
and as for the sci-fi, I accidentally stumbled on Jaid Black's Trek Mi Qan series..i actually read the 3rd book and it was fascinating...very much on the wild side but the story is about the royal family of this planet seeking sacred mates on earth..it's a journey to a different culture.
succubus 17th Apr '09 Fri, 14:12 i love romance novels as well and my favorite writers are judith mcnaught, nicholas sparks and jude deveraux.
my favorites are:
the notebook, message in a bottle and the wedding - nicholas sparks (watta tearjerker these books are!)
perfect and paradise - judith mcnaught (great great stories!)
a knight in shining armor - jude deveraux (very romantic!)
mohcandy 19th Apr '09 Sun, 21:39 I've read all of jo lindsey's novels except her latest Mallory novel. I stopped after the first chapter. I like the earlier ones better. My favorite among them would be her first novel, captive bride. Favorite Mallory novel would be Gentle Rogue.
I've also read most of judith deveraux, judith mcnaught, lisa kleypas, linda howard, amanda quick, brenda joyce, and julie garwood novels. And others. What can i say? I'm a certified Romance novel addict. Lol
I liked the Velvet series by j deveraux, Something Wonderful by J Mcnaught, The Gift by Julie Garwood, Firestorm by Brenda Joyce, and the Mckenzie series of Linda Howard. I also loved Iris Johansen's historical novels esp Winddancer.
But my most favorite would be Remembrance by Jude Deveraux. The hero and heroine love each other so much that their love transcends several lifetimes. I must have read this book five times.
For now, I'm hooked on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series. Just finished the 8th book and can't wait for the 9th coming out this May. :)
3bunny0 27th May '09 Wed, 02:57 My most favorite author would be Julie Garwood. I love all her books though I've read 1/3 of her books. My favorite is Castles. Its about a princess running away from a general and must get married in order for the general to stop pursuing her, and a man who tries to build his own empire. The two met and somehow forced to get married. All in all, its a great romance novel and there are scenes that will make you laugh.
Namida 20th Jul '09 Mon, 22:17 Can u guys suggest a romance/fantasy book? the reason i liked twilight is because of the fact that it has vampires(with special powers). Somehow i cant stand reading purely love stories :s
