I really miss Ilocos Norte--my home... halos twice a year nlng kc kung umuuwi ako ... For those na hindi pa nakakarating sa Ilocos, here's a tour of our province..
If you were to go there, you yould come to see the scenic and historic spots that truly exhibit the experiences, spirit and character of the Ilocanos... Moreover, you would come to feel the Ilocanos' warm hospitality that tenderly offers a delightul and cozy stay in Ilocandia...
STA MONICA CHURCH (Sarrat) --My home town.. hehehe... Sarrat, Ilocos Norte is popular for two reasons. One, it’s the birthplace of President Ferdinand Marcos and two, the Parish Church, Sta Monica, is where his daughter Irene got married in June of 1983.The wedding rivaled that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s and was considered the “wedding of the century” in the Philippines.Ayun! hehehehe
Sarrat's only 7 kilometers east of Ilocos Norte’s capital, Laoag City.
meron ding wishing well jan.---->>>
The massive buttressess, exterior staircases, and facade are "earthquake naroque".
The separate three-storey Bell tower, dating from 1793 was used by local guerillas in World war II and as a lookout by the Katipuneros during the revolution. The convento is across the street from the church.
It is a favorite place for movie producers, foreign and local correspondents, foreign travel writers to shoot their films because of its breathtaking views and unique atmosphere. It is even featured in the Internet that makes it very popular, a world–class destination. The beach is along stretch sand framing the heart shaped calm emerald water of the Saud Bay.
Every year, hundreds and even thousands of tourists come to visit the place to see for themselves the wonders of nature that awaits them. A paradise they really love to see.
First of its kind sa South East Asia. At ung bawat blades eh may habang 41-meters and take note nasa shoreline to ha.. kaya pag nandun ka, para ka talagang nililipad.. Yahoooo!
Cape Bojeador Light House (Burgos) -- This is one of the must see landmarks when visiting Ilocos Norte province. Eto ung pinakamataas na lighthouse sa buong Pilipinas (estimated a total height of around 160 meters high; tower height = 17 meters approximate) na ginawa nung 1892 and until now eh gumagana pa.
Tinatawag din itong “French Riviera of the North”.. Hahaha hindi ko alam kung bakit.. Along the bridge, you can pass the Mabugabog Falls that serves as a source of power for the mini hydroelectric plant. It is only during the rainy days when it shows its splendor with its water dropping rhythmically to precipice on the rocky shore of the sea below.
While at the middle of the bridge, you could take a look at the amazing view of the sea and the luxuriant mountains that is 200 meters above sea level.
Lapaz Sand Dunes (Laoag) -- Ang tinatawag na Dessert of the North...Naging famous dahil ginawa itong setting ng mga pelikula ni Fernando Poe lalo na ung Panday and you can just imagine it when you are already in this place. (Thanks to Anton sa pic)
Batac City -- "Home of Great Leaders"...isa sa pinakamahalagang lugar sa puso ko..Dito lumaki si Marcos, pinanganak si Gregorio Aglipay na founder ng Philippine Independent Church, better known as the Aglipayan Church, at si Gen. Artemio Ricarte, the "Father of the Philippine Army". Dito rin matatagpuan ang Mariano Marcos State University (My Alma Mater, dito ako nahasa na maging engineer, hehehe)... Kilala ang batac dahil a masarap na empanada ---->>
