    What [ROM][KERNEL][SGY] Hyperion Project 2013 (Updated 1/28/13)

    Hyperion 8

    JellyBean experience at its best
Everything you love about Hyperion and JellyBean — the gorgeous UI , fast and fluid performance, battery life — is everything you’ll love about the new Hyperion, too. And you can have the best of both it in one ROM.
A rom worthy of all Galaxy Y
Fast performance, superb stability, mouth watering UI, useful features — It's something for everyone. And Everything!
    Incredible performance
Known for its fast, fluid performance, Hyperion doesn’t disappoint. It features 23 powerful and power-efficient CPU governors and 4 I/O Scheduler, which makes everything you do feel smooth and natural.
Hyperion wouldn’t be Hyperion without incredible battery life. Even with so much performance packed into such a small space, it still lasts up to 2 days on a single charge*. So you can read, watch, play, write, and create whatever you want, as long as you want.
*battery life based on moderate usage with all radios turned on at default policy settings

    Default Hyperion ROM FEATURES

Hyperion 8 highlights - Pre GM build
Total ear-gasm: ALSA ([Link available to registered users only. Click here to register.]) + Beats Audio Engine v2
We combined and tuned up two sound engines for superb sound quality when listening to music. This time, sound enhancements are activated at startup without the use of DSP Manager. What does that mean? No more force close when you connect/disconnect mass storage mode on PC.
    Mouth watering pixel goodness
Like JellyBean looks but sluggish like old granny? Worry no more! Hyperion 8 combines JellyBean UI and transparency into a piece of art. We don't simply take frameworks, systemUI and put it in a blender. We make sure we put "what belongs together".
    Project butter Hyperion style
We combined all the best tweaks out there for a superb super smooth UI. Others would say "No! That's not real! Project butter is JB only", yes that is correct if you can't read between the lines
    More juice more fun!
We hate running out of juice as much as you do, so we made sure you can get the most of your battery. We put 23 CPU governors and 5 IO schedulers to tame that nasty CPU! And with deep sleep? Your phone will get more sleep than you do! -well at least for me this is a true statement
    Features

Basic - all custom roms must have
    1. De-Odexed
    2. Zipaligned
    3. Recompressed APKS
    4. Optimized APK Images
    5. Rooted
    6. BusyBox and BusyBox run-parts support
    7. Apps2SD enabled

    3. Status bar Tweaks + TEAM battery bar
    4. 4-way Reboot Options
    5. Expanded Power Menu (because themers and mods crash systemUI most of the time, we need other ways of rebooting)
Unique - not all custom roms have
    1. No SMS Bug
    2. No false Android version
    3. No useless features
    4. Least branding (Like creed parts or cod parts or whatever. We don't like that. It's your phone, not ours)
    Advanced

    2. CIFS
    3. Swap Support
    4. BaCeM Tweak
    5. UnderVolt Support

    3. Ear-gasmic sound quality
    4. Integrated Autostart manager, Firewall and Network Unlocker
    5. Modular system structure
    6. System Replacer
    Experimental
    1. Force GPU Rendering - Force use of GPU for 2D rendering
    2. Disable HW overlays - Always use GPU for screen compositing
    3. Allow purging of assets - Purging of bitmap memory assets allows freeing of more RAM when needed (you can now get as low as 85-90mb used RAM)
    4. 32bit transparency - Better graphics performance and full transparency support
    NOTE:
These features may work or do nothing. Most of them are pre-activated and some are integrated since Hyperion 7 GM

Default Hyperion ROM Download and Instruction

    DOWNLOAD

    NOTE:
This isn't the final build yet

Google Apps (Maps, YouTube, etc) are removed due to revised policy by google. Even though you are not the most important person in the world, you don't want your infos leaking out. Right?
Don't worry Google Core Apps are installed so you can simply go to Playstore, type "google" and choose the app you want like ****ing Maps, YouTube, Translate blah blah blah

    Hyperion 8 User Guide
This would be your one-stop reference for Hyperion 8. This is actually a crap for others but for beginners, this would help you a lot.

For now, let me put some optimized settings for this rom

For very very light usage. You can get as much as 3-4 days of battery life in a single charge

    ORANGE = Mid range usage
For average usage. You can get as much as 1-2 days of battery life in a single charge

    RED = Heavy usage
For heavy usage. You can get a day of battery life in a single charge

    pre-installation issue(s)
issue 1: Can't flash hyperion via stock or cwm recovery - shows"installation aborted"
-this is commonly caused by a bad or damaged *.zip file. Please verify that you have downloaded an intact file.

How to check for md5 sum?
    1. Download [Link available to registered users only. Click here to register.] that i attached to this post
    2. Go to download page of hyperion (devhost) and look for the md5 sum (scroll up kalang hanapin mo "md5" sa downlad post)
    3. Extract the contents of md5-checker.zip
    4. Run md5.exe
    5. Paste the code and browse for the zip file
    6. If it says "the codes do not match" then that means you have a damaged zip file
    post installation issue(s)
issue 1: I flashed hyperion but nothing happened, i still have my old rom - flashed hyperion using cwm recovery
-100% of the issues reported is caused by excitement. Yes, you read it right e-x-c-i-t-e-m-e-n-t. Before you flash hyperion, make sure the below partitions are mounted:

    1. /system
    2. /cache
    3. /data
    4. /sdcard

you can find all of these in cwm > mounts and storage
issue 2: Device goes to endless boot loop after flashing hyperion - flashed latest build from old version of hyperion or other custom roms
-this is commonly caused by boot.img from previous rom and/or kernel. If your previous rom includes custom kernel which is from samsung's open-source code, you will likely get a boot loop. In most cases, stock-like kernels which is modded via kitchen doesn't cause boot loop.

How do i avoid boot loops?
    1. Flash stock firmware first, make sure you use the latest firmware for your region so you have the latest radio firmware.
    2. Format your sd card including your 2nd partition to make sure everything is clean and fresh
    3. Go to recovery and do data and cache wipe + wipe dalvik-cache
    4. Flash hyperion afterwards

    note:
Old hyperion builds contains savie's kernel, the latest build (hyperion-build.07 rc-03 rev-05) contains kuro kernel. flashing from old hyperion build with savie kernel can cause boot loop.
issue 3: I can't install any app, shows "application not installed"
    decription:
whenever you try to install an app, it says "application not installed", even if you push it into /system or /data and set permissions, still app won't get installed. This can be cause by different factors listed below:

    common factors causing this issue:
    1. You are installing a system application
ex: Propriety *.apks from other roms like touchwhiz launcher, modified settings.apk etc etc)

    2. You are installing a non-compatible apk
ex: Apks that requires higher api level like ics and/or jelly bean apks

    3. You didn't wipe dalvik-cache after installing hyperion

    how to solve this issue?
-if 1 and 2 in above list does not apply, then wiping dalvik-cache does will solve this issue.

    how to do dalvik-cache wipe?
    1. Go to cwm recovery
    2. Select advance and debugging
    3. Wipe dalvik-cache

i don't have cwm, i flashed the latest build using stock recovery
-well, check again, savie's kernel have built-in cwm recovery
issue 4: Black black screen bug! Oh no!
    description:
device takes 5-10 seconds to wake up when power and/or lock/unlock key is pressed when phone is idle after some time.

If your phone is in idle mode for a minimum of 30 minutes to 1 hour or more, this is normal (5-10 seconds delay).

Why? Because your phone (by that time) might be in deep sleep mode where the cpu is running in a state of lowest cpu frequency in settings > core > cpu control > min: (cpu frequency here).

Say you set the phone's cpu min value to 156 mhz, don't expect it to wake up right there and then when you hit the power key. It's gonna be like waking up a polar bear during hibernation period and expecting it to wake up as soon as you touch it.
issue 5: Wifi gets disconnected once phone is locked or the display turns off
    description:
everytime i lock my device, it disconnects from wifi and thus interrupts and activity that requires internet connection.

Okay, don't panic. This is not a bug. This behaviour is responsible why you save battery even if you don't turn off your wifi radio and this is called wifi sleep policy.

Currently hyperion have 3 wifi policies available in settings tab > wireless and network > wifi settings > advanced > wifi sleep policy.

    wifi sleep policies:
    1. when screen turns off - if selected, wifi will turn off automatically when the screen turns off (obviously)
    2. never when plugged in - if selected, wifi will not turn off automatically when connected via ac or usb port and is getting power from either ac or usb.
    3. never - if selected, wifi will never turn off automatically - default setting in stock roms
