Si Arianne, este Aronian pala nakapasok. Di pala hinabol ni So yung Isle of Man competition.

ten-year-old pragnanandhaa, aka praggu (ayan madali lang ang nickname nya, hehe), well on his way to breaking the youngest grandmaster record currently held by karjakin at twelve (didn't know karjakin holds the record). malamang in the next few years we'll see a spate of chinese and indian grandmasters battling it out for chess supremacy. yung top 100 fide rating ngayon andami ng chinese entries, hehe

2788 na lang ang live rating ni So, good for sixth. since he's not playing, his ranking now depends on how those immediately above or below him perform. before the Isle of Man event nasa 8th ata sya, but two players went down for him. So seems to be suffering from some dry spell, just like nakamura, caruana, giri, and others. Si topalov ang laki ng binagsak from sittting next to Carlsen in the past. So many young pretenders on the way, all of them hungry for money, fame, and prestige. Russia is not producing good players these days, a far cry from the past. Sa hacking na ginagamit ang talents nila. Quick money or quick jail. Hahaha.

Oo nga wala ng nababalita na young good chess prospect from Russia. Kahit USA, may mga good young prospects sila.

Yes, China has its share of legit computer wizards and hackers too, hehe. Ang India marami malupet karamihan legit, nasa top positions pa ng Google, Microsoft, and other IT giants.

Otherwise next time ulit. It should be his target within the next five years.

Hehe.

Malamang ito pasok sa 2018 candidate matches that will determine Carlsen's challenger.

1. Karjakin
2. Aronian
3. Ding Liren
4. Caruana
5. Wesley
6. Kramnik
7-8 Two of the following: Mamedyarov, Grischuk, Radjabov, MVL

The way these 8 are playing, parang di pa matitinag si Carlsen sa championship nyan. And Carlsen seems to find it easy to up his play in the middle of competitions. How do you beat that. Hehe

Carlsen is one of the greatest of all time and by the end of his career might be the goat at chess. Hehe.

Uso nga ngayon yan, extended slump sa laro from having all these girls around. Confirms that nerds tend to overthink opposite sex matters too much??

pero hindi porket magaling sa chess ay nerd na. hehe. many of these top chess grand masters have friends and social life.

haha. i only have a scant idea about capablanca being a lady's man. alam ko sa batch nina capablanca and earlier maraming macho, yung tipong nagkaron pa ata ng duel challenge among some of them. something that can't be said about alekhin? hehe

naku, panahon ni kaspa nagkalat ang russian girls all over the place. perhaps it explains why some of them found their way to kasparov? haha.

yes, people tend to think that chess players are that, nerds. it's time we change the image. in that respect, magnus seems to lead the way. mukhang well rounded and balanced ang lifestyle nya ha.

during that time matinding magkaribal/magkaaway sila tarrasch at nimzowitsch. ugly daw ang tira ni nimzowitsch.hehe. pinagmulan yata ng away nila ay iyung hyper modern chess vs classical chess. Si tarrasch ay proponent ng classical chess. bago pinakita ni nimzowitsch ang hypermodern chess, ang mga top players ay classical. ang classical ay occupy/control the center with pawns. ang hypermodern ay control the center with pieces and later destroy/challenge the center of your opponent. today nimzowitsch ideas lives with opening like nimzo indian, queen's indian, sicilian etc. kaya chess is a clash of style din. classical vs hyper modern. positional vs tactical player. hehe.

iyung mga hindi rin alam ang chess, they mistakenly think that you need na maging matalino para maging good player sa chess. high iq is not necessary to be good at chess. what you need to learn is pattern of tactics, strategies and endgames na hindi naman complicated para malaman. balance nga si carlsen. model din siya. hehe.

who says chess is devoid of intrigues hehe. ilang panahon din yung naging palitan sa pagitan ng ultramodern tsaka classical camps—pawn positioning in the middle of the board, knight and bishop support, etc., hehe. That's why i could only shake my head ng nagdatingan na yung mga killer chess engines. these beasts are totally not like humans, they just look directly into the merits of the positions and go for the kill, unmindful of which theoretical camp to follow. a move is just a move for them, as long as the mating position is in sight, hehe. magulong episode din yung Cold War era chess, pitting US and Fischer vs. Karpov and the Soviets.

lumabas pa ata si carlsen sa GQ awhile back. and marami din sya sponsors. tough to beat when the guy could muster support from all fronts. malaking bagay din sa performance ni carlsen na stable ang personal life niya, walang maraming drama. parang si so and his mother and the camp of lotis key. hehe.

May ilang films ata about a few chess personalities, like Morphy?

Mahirap tibagin si Putin. I think he totally dominates Russian life. Dami secret agents to check mate the opponents, hehe.

I wouldn't belabor Wesley's reasons for changing federation. There is a good article about that, but I just can't seem to find it. Anyway, we should just take it like Eugene Torre. Wesley can change federations as his career sees fit, but we must not forget he still remains a Filipino at heart, and he always shows it. Nakakagulat lang yung background ni Lotis, hehe. It's said Fischer also took to the camp of Lotis before he went gung-ho all the way, man against the world haha.

May film din about Morphy?

Hehe.

Mamaya na ang London Chess Classic. It is possible na ang mga players na kasama sa candidate matches ya magtago ng preparation nila. Bigatin nag unang kalaban ni Wesley. Si MVL makakalaban niya sa first round.

The Opera Game — a look at the tortured life of 1850's New Orleans chess prodigy, Paul Morphy. TV doc film lang pala siya, hehe.

Here's an article about all the drama of So's life and Fischer's connection with Lotis.

Oo nga, pakiramdaman sa play with the Candidates lurking around. Negative ba record ni Wesley vs. MVL? Ang aga naman nag-meet ng heavyweights, hehe.

Puro draw ang first round. Si Adams lang ang pinakamababa rating, haha.
