hi!

i hope it's ok if I'll post here the link/s of my pfSense tutorial.... (kung hindi po pwede,sorry at paki bura nalang po ng thread na to)

may web version po... at youtube video version...

Official packages lang po ang gamit ko sa setup ko kaya yun lang din ang makikita nyo sa guides ko (no Lusca)

pwede po kayo mag ask or mag comment sa blog post ko mismo or dito.. pero di ko po sure if masasagot at alam ko ang lahat.. newbie lang din po ako...

pwede po mag contribute ng ideas and other helpful materials ang lahat..

about my set up : basic firewalling and routing + web content filtering / blocking + captive portal lang po ang gamit ko kay pfSense sa ngayon.. NO CACHING po. sorry .


ISP > globe modem > pfSense > switch > clients PCs


My pfSense specs:

CPU - Pentium4 3.0Ghz
Board - Old Gigabyte socket775
RAM - 4Gig DDR2 (2x2G)
HDD - Seagate 160G SATA
NIC - 2 Intel Pro/100+

NEXT guide po ay HOW TO SET UP CAPTIVE PORTAL ... gumamit po ako ng WindowsServer Active Directory dito... bago magkarun ng internet connection, need muna nila mag log sa portal using their AD credentials.... so basically mag rereflect sa GUI logs ang username nila and IP.. plus tandem ng SQUID+SQUIDGUARD = no escape.. i mean pag nag open sila ng badsites like Pornsites, huli na agad if sino, anong station, anong oras at anong sites ang inopen .. abangan nyo po if interested kayo

pwede nyo po install sa virtual box lang muna para ma try and test ninyo...

sa virtual pfsense nyo po... dalawang NIC dapat ang i-enable... set NIC1 to Bridge.. set NIC2 to Internal Network...

sa virtual windows/linux pc nyo po... isang NIC lang, then set the network to Internal Network...

(ganyan po ang network seetings ko, try nyo lang din )

Pa sub! Gusto ko yung sa captive portal! HAHAHAHA.. Possible bang iblock ang mga video streaming sites like YouTube? Para naman fair sa lahat ng clients?

Tapos pwede ba yung example: mag avail si client ng 60 minutes, ginamit niya for 15 minutes then stop na siya. the next day eh magagamit niya pa din yung 45 minutes? Parang load ba..

opo.. possible po... follow mo lang yung procedure sa pag block ng FACEBOOK ... pero sa experience ko, not successful, ang daming IP kasi ni youtube.. pero try mo pagtyagaan

Opo... ganyan po ang ginagawa ng iba.. set ng Portal then issue sila ng "vouchers" ....

halimbawa... may wifi kayo sa bahay, then gusto maki connect ni kapitbahay... setup kayo portal, then issue kayo ng vouchers sa kanila, example 1vouchers=1hr .. then 1hrvoucher=10pesos halimbawa.. ganun

pero di ko pa malagay sa guides ko.. di ko pa natry eh .. pero pwede po yan

Sir yung guide na gagawin ko po ay Captive portal with ActiveDirectory po yun..

hindi po yung gusto mo na Vouchers... sorry... pwede ko naman din gawin yun pero baka mejo sa next next pa...

my advise is.. try mo muna install at gamitin si pfSense if di mo pa na try.. familiarize mo muna sya at yung ibang basic functions nya

hello sir.. sorry for not posting the guide on how to install pfsense in virtualbox....

bale ganito po... same process ang logic parin sa actual machine... ang mejo babagohin lang natin ay ang sa NICs... sa pfsense actual machine natin dapat may 2 NICs installed.. ganun din po dapat sa VirtualMachine

1. sa pfSense VB mo.. install ka ng 2 NIC... 1st NIC = BRIDGE (WAN).... 2nd NIC = INTERNAL (LAN)

2. sa Windows/Linux VB desktop mo.. install ka 1 NIC lang, set it to INTERNAL(LAN)

3. if ang PFSENSE vb mo ay may IP na 192.168.1.1 ang LAN, dapat si desktop mo ay nasa same network and subnet... desktop IP should be 192.168.1.*

yes.. kailangan... software kasi si pfsense na need mo i install....

buo ka ng old and low specs pc.. dun mo install si pfsense...

Old and low specs hardware lang din naman gamit ko.. pero ok naman at sakto lang sa need ko..

may available hardwares pa ako dito

ano ba balak mong gawin? details para sa plan mong set up

tanung lang ts paanu ba irestore yung backup ko ng pfsense bale naka vmware pala ako at di kasi ako nag setup nito eh pinagaaralan ko pa kasi sya kung sakaling magloko eh irestore ko na lang yung backup ko..

na pi-ping nyo po ba si pfsense 192.168.1.1?

ano po network settings nyo sa PC na gamit nyo? dapat nasa network sya ni pfsense with IP of 192.168.1. * * gateway:192.168.1.1

may dns server kaba? may dhcp server maliban sa pfsense?

YES.. download the LIVE CD w/ installer (on USB memstick)
