(RM team) RPG Maker's association's thread

Wala pa ko nakikitang magandang quality na gawaang pinoy :(.Gawa tayo?

^Sure. Ano ang plano mo sa isang RPG? :)

Ang problema kasi masyado na kasing old skul ang 2d RPG, kunti na lang ang interesado maglaro eh. Amateur lang ako at walang alam sa program, hindi rin ako artist lol. Have you seen the game i posted here? That was my first ever game i made. It's totally s!#$. But I had fun creating it though, that was my main reason haha.

Meron na akong story dito na on the works pa nga lang. Sumusubok ako gumawa ng Short Interactive Tagalog fantasy Novel with some puzzle. Medyo hinahasa ko pa ang plot at mga main character na gaganap. Naumpisahan ko na kaso less than 5% to completion pa sa RPG maker. Hehe.

Yung mga ginagawa ko na mga games are mostly for fun lang, mini games o matatapos mo ng 5 minutes. Amateur lang din ako pagdating sa programming pero hindi ako nagkakaroon ng problema sa mga projects ko. Sa totoo lang, mas may dating sakin yung oldskul na look, bukod pa dun, mas madaling gumawa ng 2D art compared sa 3D.

May plano sana ako na RPG na ang focus ay tungkol sa trading, kaso mahirap magplano ng mechanics. :|
 
Lumaki ako sa panahon na namamatay na ang 2D games sa video game ind. Kaya ang mga nalaro ko lang na similar sa RPG maker ay Pokemon lol. Pero yung games na 2d masterpiece tulad ng Suikoden sa PS1, yun ang gusto ko imitate kung meron lang akong steady hands para sa artwork. Haha.

Ahh, programmer ka pala. Compare sa akin wala talaga akong knowledge sa programming kaya aasa lang ako sa mga script na pinopost at artwork resource ng RPG maker. Hindi pa ako nakakakita ng 3D program engine, mukhang mahirap nga talaga. Pero tulad mo mas gusto ko ang oldskul 2D, dahil narin sa artwork, mas prefer ko yung may pagka-Anime.

Familiar din ako sa mga trading games, kasi nakikilaro(cause i don't own one) ako ng boardgames. Karamihan sa mga nilalaro namin involves money, trading at negotiating. Kung may settings o mechanic ka, pede ka mag consult sa akin baka mabigyan kita ng idea! :)

Trading ba ang main focus ng RPG na gagawin mo? O Adventure na may trading na nanyayari?
 
Bukod sa programming, ako din ang gumagawa ng artwork at animation. Ang hindi ko lang alam ay kung paano magcompose ng music at design ng gameplay.

"Monopoly+RPG+Final Fantasy tactics" sana, yung overworld map ang magiging board. Pag nagmove sa next city, may random encounter etc. Baka hindi ko ituloy 'to kasi parang boring. :(.
 
Ayos yan marunong ka pag artwork at animation! Wag mo muna problemahin ang music dahil di pa naman license game ang gagawin mo, walang problema sa copyright haha.

Yung iniisip mo parang boardgame na Descent, RPG siya na may random encounter everytime you travel onto the next tile hanggang makarating sa destination mo, either bad or makaka benefit sa party ang manyayari. Yung gameplay niya Turn-Based na parang tactics na may move at attack kaso dun maraming selection mayroon pang pick up, rest etc. Kung ala Monopoly, ibig mo bang sabihin kada city na madaanan mo ay parang pede ka magtayo ng business at everytime na may lalapag dun ay mababawasan at madadagdagan ang pera? RPG maker engine ba ang gagamitin mo? Kaya mo gawin sa script yung turn base?

Huwag mong isiping magiging boring ang game, hindi mo malalaman pag-di mo pa natatapos, tsaka ang importante para sa isang indie developer ay nag eenjoy ka dahil walang pressure. :)
 
Ang game engine na ginagamit ko at LOVE2D at GM:studio dahil medyo limited ang magagawa ko sa RPGmaker. Mas prefer ko ang GM dahil mas organized.

Unlike monopoly, na paikot lang sa board, sa gagawin ko, pwede ka magmove sa mga city na connected sa location mo. Every time na magmomove sa next location, may traveling expenses depende sa party size at distance.

The party will be composed of hired guards and assistants. Pwede kang maghire sa mga city. Magtatagal lang yung member ng party depende sa salary nila. Ang mga assistant naman ay special effects tuwing may random encounter (ex. discount when building business).

When entering a city, the player will be given options: build a business (lahat related sa combat), upgrade, mortgage, trade or hire. Pwedeng mabawasan o madagdagan ang pera ng player.
business:
workshop: weapons
laboratory: potions
Magic school: items
* baka magdagdag pa ko

pwedeng bumili yung player sa sairili nilang business or i-set ang price (by percentage).
yung mga trade goods, ay pwedeng i-equip ng mga guards.

try ko simulan ngayon yung game, start ko din ng devblog.

lalgyan ko na ng ending yung game o hangang mabankrupt lang yung player. ang scoring ay kung ilang araw tatagal ang player at highest gold achieved.
 
Woah parang Merchant ka ditong na nagpapalagong pepot, at kung saan mag hihire ka ng guards para protektahan ang kargo o goods na idedeliver mo. Tapos yung salary parang depende sa haba ng biyahe. Pwede dingg lagyan mo ng # of turns para mag trigger ng end game.

Your idea reminds me of a board game called Yspahan though malayo sya sa idea mo pero merchant game din.
 
post ko na lang dito at sa blog na gagawin ko yung updates. Ginagawa ko ngayon yung sketch ng worldmap. Salamat! Isasali kita sa credits pag natapos na :)

I assume that the most busy city of them all eh yung maraming trade routes, a city in the center of other adjacent cities. Kung lalagyan mo ng ports at may trade route by sea, well you might add pirates, so either they deal with bandits in the land or the danger of pirates in the sea and maybe a legendary sea creature.. Yung port city definitely will be the wealthiest city marami kasing katrade route yan, by land or by sea. Unless there will be a capital city.

Well about the map, hmm.. is the top center city has a tough road to pass through? If not then the logical safest path is by sea then it better be two lands divided by Sea or if you don't want boats and ships involve maybe they could be divided by high mountains or deep forest, but if you want to keep the sea but want to use only the road just tell them that the people is hydrophobic and the waters are infested by poisonous jellyfish xD
 
Those two stops above the isolated land will be port cities. The top area is actually a cold mountain pass while the isolated island below the map is a pirate hideout. Hindi pwedeng magtayo ng business dun pero pwedeng maghire ng outlaw/bandit para i-ambush ang ibang merchants. Should I call the left and right parts of the map as continents or kingdom?
 
Kingdom will be good. Parang panget pakinggan kapag tinawag natin yung lone island na country for pirates. Hehe.
 
anong mgandang markers ng mga city sa worldmap? Flag/building?
 
Buildings would be nice, different style or size maybe depends how high the standard of the city.

^ I'm so jealous, you can create something like this haha.

Yung game ko iniscrap ko na, uulit ako sa umpisa, rerework ko yung storya tsaka maghuhunt pa ako ng mga magagandang tilesets at characters, para sa RPGMaker ko. xD
 
Sure, pero plan ko ay interactive Novel eh. Parang GensoSuikoden series pero may pagka puzzle din at naka depend sa mga choices mo ang magiging flow ng storya. Medyo problema ko pa yung place ng mga Cities at faction sa world map. xD
