New user of Kata T1 here. Hindi talaga ako mahilig sa tablets, pero kahapon ay napadaan sa SM North and nakita ko ito. Swak na swak ang price vs. performance and looks para sa 3-year old son ko. Also, suwerte rin...apparently binigyan ako ng 30% Off (Discount). So lumalabas mga PHP 3,500 na lang ang binayaran ko, kaya't bumili na rin ako ng leather case.

Ni-offer kasi sa akin ang "display" model nila. Yung mga nilabas na sa box at naka-display so may kaunting mga cosmetic defects pero operationally and hardware-wise walang sira. Eh naisip ko, since anak ko ang gagamit, puwede na.

Hindi ko pa masyadong nabutingting ito, pero I would just like to provide some answers sa mga na-find out ko so far.

Ayon sa store, talaga pong hindi mag-mirror ang image/video sa Kata T1 pag sinaksak sa HDMI. Yung Kata T2 raw, kaya ng specs niya na mag-mirror/extend ng display.[/FONT]

ang tested pa lang namin ay yung rooting for minitab7 and T1 ... actually, palakasan ng loob ang laban. wala pang nag-po-post dito na T2 owner about their rooting experiences ... hintay na lang po tayo ng update from them.

Sorry I'm pretty new sa Tablets/Android...yang "contactsprovider.apk" ba eh yung "Contacts" na app na built-in? If so, I believe na-extract ko siya. I can upload it if needed.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, sulit talaga. Since hindi ako talaga mahilig sa tablets, I was looking for something cheap ("inexpensive") but not "cheap-looking" and so far, swak na swak itong Kata brand.

Successfully rooted my Kata T1, thanks for the initial guide on how to root. Now is there a customer rom for this brand?

Marami po nagkalat na custom rom. Problem is, ang hirap ng selection process since android is a scattered OS. Mas ok if you just stick with an official gingerbread, ics, or jellybean. Root it, and rebuild the OS from ground up. Pero syempre do not mess with the kernel. Services and RO apps only.

Hm...mukhang mahirap nga dahil sa dami ng mga Android products. Siguro ganito: install natin ang "ASI" (Android System Information) na app para makita natin ang buong hardware specs ng Kata tablets, then hanap lang ng mga custom ROMs na ginawa para sa similar specs. Yun lang ang naiisip ko. I already installed ASI app and mukhang common naman ang hardware specs ng Kata (T1 ang aking tablet):

1. Processor: ARM v7
2. RAM (Memory): 1GB
3. Storage: 8GB

i have Windows 8 pro 32bit,.. when i tried to root kata t1 tablet, i am stucked on pdanet installation. binigyan ako ng option ng installation na skip USB.. kasi di nya ma-detect ang android ko kahit ilang oras na akong nag antay as i connect it. Kapag kinoconnect ko naman ang tablet with debugging mode enabled, naririnig ko naman sa speaker na there is something connected to the PC. I tried to open the device manager at may nakita akong "Portable Devices" i clicked the triagnle to toggle the arrow down at nakita ko ang drives D:\ and E:\. so anong meaning nun?

i have no memory card (SD) inserted when i'm rooting eh necessary ba iyon?

please help.. thanks.

ito ang pinakamagandang paliwanag tungkol sa paggamit ng unlockroot.




ala-tsamba kasi ako dito sa parteng ito... di ko masyadong ma-gets nung una... ngayon ok na... isummarize ko lang ulit.

1. install pdanet sa pc.

2. run unlockroot.bat

bago mag-proceed gawin muna ito:
- turn on usb debugging ng kata
- turn-off kata
- connect kata to pc via cable (kusang mag-o-on si kata)

tapos umpisa na ng mga press any key ... see quoted text above for details pero may pagkakaiba rin siguro ng konti kasi we started with turning off the kata.

bale 4 na beses yung press any key... ganito lalabas sa cmd window ...



tapos mag-close na yung cmd window. siguro yung bytes at KB/s maiiba depende sa speed ng pc, pero basically yan ang lalabas sa screen. Yung naka-blue na text, for info lang yun.



check na lang kung rooted si kata by following the advice above.

I-quote ko lang si mr.adcmark (kasi win7 ang ginamit kong pang-root); windows 8 ang gamit nya pag-root succesfully.
Although hindi about pdanet yung sinagot nya, related naman dahil win8. Sana makatulong ito

If you were trying to run it as admin, try the opposite... Sometimes the bat file does not work properly depending on the settings of your pc.

Sa pag-install ng pdanet, wag mong skip yung drivers... piliin mo yung Others.

Install ka rin ng pdanet sa tablet.

update mo muna si kata sa latest version. Open mo fish market, tapos update mo fish market bago mo download kata t1 update, flash mo after download. Once done, pwede mo na gamitin yung bstick mo, configure mo na lang.

Kata T1: Rooting and Unrooting in MS Windows 8 64-bit

Friends,

I have found an alternative method for rooting the Kata T1 model. It's different from the steps that are already provided in this thread.

FAQs:

Why come up with an alternative? May tutorial na dito sa thread eh: because if I'm not mistaken, the steps in this thread were originally made for the Kata Minitab. There is one reported case na gumana yung steps ng Kata Minitab sa Kata T1, but those did not work for me (and others as well).

How did you know that this is the one that works with Kata T1? Inalam ko lang ang chipset model/brand using Android System Information (ASI)...you can download it from the Play Store. I found out na ang chip/board na ginagamit sa Kata T1 (and karamihan siguro ng mga China-branded or less-popular brands) ay ang RK29 na chipset. Ito ang ginamit kong pang-Google, at nakita ko ang thread na binabanggit ko sa xda-developers.com na Forum Site.

(Post will be updated, still creating tutorials...na-root ko kasi ang T1, I forgot to record a video of it...un-root ko muna then I will repeat the steps para makunan ng video).

1. Click ninyo yung Post #1 link na binigay ko.
2. May dalawang Zip file attachments dun sa Post #1. Yung "Root RK29 Tab Toolkit 1.3.zip" and yung "ADB Driver RK29.zip". Actually hindi ko na nagamit yung pangalawang Zip file.
3. I-uncompress/unzip ang mga file.

4. Sa Kata T1 Tablet, pumunta sa Settings->Developer Options->I-check ang box na "USB debugging". Also go to Settings->Security->I-check ang "Unknown Sources".

5. Ikabit ang Kata T1 sa computer gamit ang cable. May maririnig kayong tunog/notification sound. Huwag i-enable ang USB Mass Storage Mode. Walang kailangang galawin sa Kata T1 after isaksak sa computer.

NOTE: Maraming tutorials sa Internet (pati dito sa thread natin) na nagsasabing may makikita kang yellow excalamation point sa Device Manager, na siyang nagsasabi na hindi installed ang drivers ng Kata T1, kung kaya't kailangan raw na i-install ang mga drivers (that is why may pangalawang attachment yung Post #1 na ni-link ko...yun ang mga mismong drivers). In my case, sa Windows 8, never kong nakita na may lumabas na yellow exclamation point. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit medyo nahirapan akong sundin ang tutorial na nakalagay sa thread natin, kaya naghanap ako ng alternatibong paraan. Sa Windows 8, may maririnig lang kayong sound/notification na naka-plug na ang Kata T1. Sa Device Manager, may makikita siguro kayong "E" at "F" sa "Portable Devices". Hindi ko na ginamit ang mga drivers na nabanggit.

6. Sa Computer, open File Explorer. Hanapin kung saan ninyo ni-extract yung "Root RK29 Tab Toolkit 1.3.zip" at buksan ang folder.
7. May file dun na "runme" ang name. I-click ito (or double-click).

8. Mag-open ang isang Command Prompt. Sundin lang ang instructions.
9. Mapapansing magre-reboot ang Kata T1 ng mga ilang beses.
10. Matapos ang buong rooting process, mag-close nang mag-isa ang Command Prompt.

11. I-unplug ang Kata T1.
12. Check ninyo kung may bagong apps na na-install sa Kata T1: SuperSu, and Superuser App.

13. You're done. Congratulations!
14. Double-check natin kung naka-root nga talaga. You can download "Root Checker Basic" from the Play Store and start the app, then click lang ninyo ang "Verify Root Access".

UN-ROOTING: See and follow the simple steps below. Verified working with Kata T1, kaka-unroot ko lang (uulitin ko kasi ang rooting para may video tutorial/proof). Basically, ang SuperSu na app ay may option para ma-unroot ang inyong Kata T1 tablet. Single-click lang, and then reboot.

Sabi sa tutorial, in case ginawa ninyong "system app" ang SuperSu, you need to manually delete the "su" binaries. Nasa tutorial na rin ang steps (below).

Kakatawa lang, andaming nagrereklamo kung bakit daw hindi puwedeng sa external SD Card mag-install ng apps at sinisisi ang Kata. Policy po ng Android OS yun, hindi naman policy ng hardware manufacturer (such as Kata) yun eh. Here are some reading materials that will explain kung bakit:

nangyayari po yung pag-shutdown sa minitab7 ko pag low-batt na (mga below 17%). It happens pag hindi mataas ang battery level bago ako matulog, ayoko namang iwan lang na naka-charge at baka ma-over.

kahit naka-tambay lang, magd-discharge ang android unit, kasi may mga apps na kusang tumatakbo or tuluy-tuloy ang takbo. may makukulit pa ngang apps na kahit di mo na kailangan, naka-load pa rin. pansinin mo pag nag-iinit yung unit mo, may mga nakaload pa na apps at tumatakbo.

gumagamit na lang ako ng task killer para ma-close ang mga di kailangan na apps. iba-iba ang opinion ng mga android user tungkol sa task killer, pero sa akin, it serves its purpose kaya sige lang ako ng gamit.

hindi advisable na i-drain ang battery ng kata. pag nag-kulay orange or red na yung battery icon, kailangan nang i-charge.

hindi rin ako pabor dun sa "on-off" ang tablet (io-on pag gagamitin, tapos io-off pag hindi) continuously on ang tablet ko. pinsan ko kasi ganun ang gawa... same unit kami, mas matanda ng 2 buwan ang tablet ko pero nagluko yung tab nya... ayaw nang mag-on. minsan nabubuksan sandali pero namamatay din agad hanggang sa ayaw na talagang mag-on. ang ginawa ko, charge, push reset button, turn it on ... paulit-ulit yun hanggang sa maging stable na ulit yung tablet niya. (wala lang naiku-kwento lang)...

Ito pala, very useful ito:

... lagi kayong mag-baon ng paper clip tulad ko. meron kcing times na si kata t1, basta nalang nag-o-off especially when charging na naka on ang unit. Hindi mo na ito ma switch-on sa power nya. So need ang paper clip para ma puch mo ung hole nya near the volume. Push the hole and magre-restart sya ulit.

Have that replaced sir or ipatingin na sa store. Hindi dapat ganyan ang tablet na yan.
