[TUTORIALS] Ubuntu (a Debian/GNU Linux Distribution)

Tutorial: Cracking Wireless Networks with aircrack-ng (Part 4a - WPA/WPA2)

Part 4: Capturing Packets (4.a.1 - capturing the 4-way Handshake for WPA/WPA2)

This step is about using airodump-ng. This command is used for capturing a 4-way Handshake (the authentication method used in WPA/WPA2-protected networks) as well as capturing data packets (IVs for WEP-protected networks). Right now we will be discussing the method for WPA/WPA2-protected networks.

The Terminal command to be used is:
Code:
airodump-ng -c (channel) --bssid (MAC of the Access Point) -w (capture filename that you want to assign/name) mon0 (or ath0 for those using madwifi-ng drivers)

I wanted my "capture" file to alway start with "psk" that's why i typed "psk" in the command. Also, if you want to save it to another location, just make sure to include the path in the command.

This is how it's going to look like after you have typed the command in Terminal. airodump-ng will continue to run until you stop it (by pressing Ctrl+C). With WPA/WPA2 cracking, this is done by just capturing a 4-way handshake. Hence, we just need to capture 4 packets of data; no need to let the application run for a long time (provided we have already captured the handshake). It is with WEP cracking that we need to wait so that a sufficient number of packets can be captured, before we stop airodump-ng because WEP cracking uses packet injection. In the lower part of the window (under the column named "STATION"), you will see the wireless clients/devices that are currently connected to the Access Point.

At this point, to capture a 4-way handshake you have 2 options:

  • Wait for a client (e.g. computer/device that has access to the Access Point/router) to connect.
  • Force a client to disconnect by sending a signal. This will then prompt the client to reconnect again.
Most likely you will want to force a disconnect (de-authentication) instead of waiting, so here's the command to be used:
Code:
aireplay-ng -0 1 -a (MAC Address of the Access Point) -c (MAC Address of the wireless client that you want to disconnect) mon0 (or ath0 if you're using the madwifi-ng driver)

You will see that the command tried to de-authenticate the wireless client. Now you just have to go back to the airodump-ng window to wait for a 4-way handshake to happen.

This is how the airodump-ng window will look like when it has successfully captured the 4-way handshake:

At this point you are already done capturing the 4-way handshake. You may now stop airodump-ng by pressing Ctrl+C.

Hi Friend,

I-right click mo lang yung .exe file or setup file na gusto mong ma-install and then select Run with Wine Program Loader. Remember that not all Microsoft applications may run with Wine. Always make sure to check www.winehq.org and then click on AppDB para i-research mo kung pulidong gagana sa Wine ang application na gusto mo. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Friend,

1. Bakit siya laging nasisira? Ano ang error message, or description ng problem?
3. Tuwing kailan siya nagma-manifest ng sira, e.g. anong ginagawa mo at the time na nasisira siya?
5. Ano ang specs ng computer mo?
6. Notebook (Laptop) ba ito, or Desktop, or Netbook?

Thanks. :)

Pinapuntahan ko sa iyo yun for the purpose of checking kung gagana ang Microsoft application mo by clicking on "AppDB" and then i-search mo ang applicatino mo...yun ang sabi ko sa previous post ko eh...paki-read ulit yung previous post, ni-highlight ko in bold text ang reason kung bakit so sinabing pumunta ka sa website ng Wine. :)

Hanapin mo lang sa Page 1 yung "How to install Wine or PlayonLinux". :)

Tutorial: How to Set up USB Modem (Offline Method) - UPDATED November 21, 2010
Tutorial: How to Install WINE or PlayOnLinux
Hope this helps. :)

Ah. You mean may router kang sarili?

Code:
04:01.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

Tutorial: How to Install WINE or PlayOnLinux

Hope this helps. :)
