Yup, mandatory yun sir, it will help you visualize your fretboard even without looking at it

makakatulong na memorize ng fingers mo ung mga different positions ng isang specific scale......without even thinking......

parang may sarili ng isip ung fingers mo......this will help you in your improvisations......kasi alam na alam n ng fingers mo kung san pupunta instinctively.......

may instinct na yung fingers mo....:clap:

may tanung ako panu pinapasok sa solo ang mga modes?bgyan mo po ako ng example?halimbawa ng improvise ka ng G major scale...tas gusto mo pasukan ng dorian modes,G dorian ba ang dapat mong ipasok?tas gusto mo din pasukan ng lydian modes,G lydian ba ang ipapasok mo?nkadepende ba yun sa root note ng scale kung saan mo din papasukan ng modes na iniimprovise mo?:noidea:

Mahirap sagutin sir ung tanong nyo, anu po bang preferences nyo sa isang electric guitar at ampli?

Kung metal genre o hard rock genre mo Ibanez na lang cguro.....
Pag Ibanez guitars - sa Audiophile sa mga SM Malls

Stay away from Raon, although may mga dealer din dun ng mga Ibanez guitars, be careful sa pagpili.....kung bibili ka cguro sa Raon ampli na lang.....marami dun.....mas mura pa kesa sa mall.....from experience and matatawaran mo pa.....merun akong na aalala dung store na mairerekomenda....ung Vantage Point....pag nilakad mo Raon papasok papuntang LRT carriedo....malapit na cya sa LRT sa left side subdealer cya ng Audiophile.....Merun din ung Salonga.....midway ng Raon left side also....nagcacarry din cila ng Ibanez guitars....mababait mga tao dito......from experience.....kung yun pa rin mga empleyado nila.......

Merun ding magkatabing malaking store sa bukana ng Raon left side din.....ingat2 ka lang sa Raon at maraming kawatan at mandurukot.....

Pag Fender naman trip mo o Godin (RNB, pop, rock, blues, hard rock), sa Yupangco sa may gil puyat avenue....

Merun ding line of branded guitars sa RJ Music sa mga SM Malls din....like Washburn, ESP, PRS, RJ, Schecter, Taylor, Fernando....

Merun din sa JB Music......dito ko binili ung first electric ko....tatak e Craftsman and it served me well for years since 2005.....buhay na buhay pa cya ngayon naipamana ko pa sa pinsan ko.....

lahat ng stores na yan ay nagcacarry din ng mga amplifiers, Cabs, and Effects....like Vantage, Ample, Marshall, Fender, Spider, Ibanez TBX, Orange, Laney.......

Pag Fender Amps, Spider, sa Yupangco pumunta

Pag mga Vantage Amps, Ample, Fernando Amps, sa JB Music or sa RJ, or sa Raon.....

Pag Ibanez TBX amps, sa Audiophile o mga subdealers nya

Pag Orange and Laney-sa JB Music, merun din cilang Marshalls...

Sir, hindi kumpleto yun, eto inedit ko na; eto ung first way kung panu gamitin ung modes;

May tatlong ways from my experience to use modes;

II. First, is harmonically, let me give you some examples;

A.) Kunwari, sa iyong tanong nasa G major scale ka which is G A B C D E F# G, then may lick ka sa G major scale….you can harmonize it using Lydian mode which is the 4th mode of the major scale….in our example G major scale….so ang Lydian mode ay nagccmula from the 4th note C = C D E F# G A B C

Eto example ng isang lick in G major scale…..note may guitar 1 tayo and then guitar 2….pwedeng ikaw yung guitar 1 then ung isa e ung isang friend mo na rhythm guitarist…here we go!!!

Ang effect neto ay nagharmonize tayo in 4ths (Lydian mode style).....

try this with your ka band mate or buddy.....

B.) another way of doing this harmonically by using modes ay for example nasa G major scale tayo ulit....then merun kang standard rhythm progression sa G like G Am C D......instead of doing a solo in G major scale, why not do a solo in E minor scale? Take note that E minor scale ay ang Aeolian mode ng G major scale which is also the relative minor scale of G major scale.....

E F# G A B C D E - also known as 6th mode (Aeolian)

Try mo lang mag improvise using E minor scale over a G major chord progression.

a.) Ang effect neto e, nag iiba ung tonal center, instead na G major, ang tonal center mo ngyon ay E.....nagharmonize ka into 6ths....new and kakaiba ang dating ng solos mo....
b.) another effect is nasa G major scale ang rhythm mo, pero E minor scale ang solo mo.....parang pinagsama mo ung feel ng major scale (happy) then minor scale (sad)........
c.) another effect is habang nagpaplay ka ng G major scale chord progression, then ung solos mo e Eminor7th arpeggio....nagsisimulate ka na chord na GM6......kasi ang composition ng GM6 chord ay G B D E......G B D ung standard major triad na ginagawa mo sa rhythm section mo then add Em7 (E G B D) which is ung basis ng solo mo.....

Now, here is an example.....merun akong G major scale rhythm (paulit ulit lang).....then mag dedeploy ako ng arpeggios using E minor scale.....

ang Aeolian mode ba ng isang major scale eh yung tinatawag din na relative minor ng major scale?kung baga ang Aeolian at relative minor ng major scale ay iisa?ganun ba yun?at dun sa sinasabi mong nagharmonize eh parang nagbeblending yung sound?prang pinataas lang yung tono o pinababa?pero pag nagsabay yung tunog eh nagmamatch sila?
 
Ung 2nd way ay melodically - gamitin na natin ung mode as basis sa rhythm and solo

Example is ung Phrygian mode
Eto ung E Phrygian mode - E F G A B C D E - by its structure matatawag natin cyang minor mode dahil ung first triad ay minor (E G B)
Eto naman ung conventional na E minor scale - E F# G A B C D E

Mapapansin nyo po na ung 2nd note sa phrygian (F) binabaan ng isang fret kumpara sa natural minor scale (F#)....

So imbis na natural minor scale ang gamitin as basis ng rhythm and solos....ung phrygian scale mode na lang gamitin.....eto ung unique chracteristic ng phrygian mode which ung flat 2nd......

so iba ung tunog ng E phyrigian minor scale sa E minor scale......unique sounding and refreshing......also mas heavy and complicated sounding ang Phrygian mode lalo na pag ginamit sa mga heavy metal riffing and solos......it conveys mysticism and very strong emotions like anger, sorrow, and great depressions......kesa sa natural minor......

Di katulad ng first way na iniexplain ko sa taas....nkabase pa rin sa major scale then ginamit natin ung mode to harmonize.....dito sa 2nd way wala ng home scale na major scale na pinagbabasehan.....we use the mode by itself para ma access natin ung unique notes ng mga iba't ibang modes....

Eto ung list ng unique characteristics ng bawat modes ulit.....

a.) Ionion mode - same as the major scale - any major scale ay Ionion mode
b.) Dorian mode - minor scale with a raise 6th

eto po ung natural minor scale ng D

napansin nyo po na ni raise ang 6th by a semitone sa Dorian mode compared sa conventional natural minor scale so may new scale na naman tayong matatawag na iba ang color and unique sounding....

c.) Phyrigian mode - minor scale with a flattened 2nd

napansin nyo po na ni lowered ung 2nd sa phyrigian mode compared sa natural minor scale so new scale na naman eto na iba ang colors and unique sounding...favorite gamitin eto ng Metallica sa Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets album.....

d.) Lydian mode - major scale with a raise 4th

napansin nyo po na ni raise ang 4th ng Lydian scale compared sa major scale.....

e.) Mixolydian mode - major scale with a lowered 7th

napansin nyo po na ni lowered ung 7th by a semitone sa Mixolydian mode compared sa major scale.....

f.) Aeolian mode - same as the natural minor scale

g.) Locrian mode - diminished scale

napansin nyo po na lowered ung 5th by a semitone sa locrian mode compared sa minor scale.....which means this is neither major nor minor....we have a minor 3rd but with a lowered 5th which makes it diminished......hindi madali ang voicing nito mga sir kasi nga hindi cya matawag na major nor minor......but ginagamit eto sa jazz sa chord progression na eto iio7-V7-i...

where iio7 is a half diminished chord....

Take note that all this modes are transposable sa ibang keys.....

sir balak ko kc major scale muna imaster ko...nu sa tingin nyo?sana mbigyan mo pa po ako ng mga lesson...sa basic lang muna about sa scale:lol:
