Lenovo External HD not working in USB 2.0 port only in USB 3.0

Help guys please..I have a LENOVO External HD hindi sya madetect sa usb 2.0 port ng laptop q even sa flat screen TV ayaw dn..but if I plugin to my USB 3.0 sa laptop ko gumagana?..should I suspect on the cable? nanghiram aq ng cable na kapareho ganun parin:slow:..
