Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories

Genre: Tactical role-playing game

After years of Overlord Zenon's curse transforming the inhabitants of Veldime into uncontrollable, bloodthirsty demons, Adell is the last known human. He seeks to reverse the foul curse and restore order to the world by hunting down and defeating Overlord Zenon.

The story begins with Adell's Mom attempting to summon Zenon in the name of Adell. Instead, the result is a girl named Rozalin, claiming to be Zenon's daughter. She is bound to Adell by the terms of the summon, so they have to stay together, which means she's basically in your party.

Adell reveals to Rozalin that he plans to kill her father. She doesn't believe he is capable of that, but she agrees to escort him to her father's mansion as she is eager to get back.

Dragon Quest V (English Patched )

Console role-playing game

Dragon Quest V follows in the footsteps of Dragon Quest IV by having unique divisions between segments of the game. Rather than using chapters, the game follows the life of the hero from childhood to adulthood to parenthood. This divides the game into 3 separate eras. It retains all of the typical elements of a Dragon Quest RPG with respect to enemies, levels, equipment, etc.

256px-Capcom_Fighting_Jam.jpg

Capcom Fighting Jam

Genre(s) Fighting

Capcom Fighting Jam features characters from the Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III and Darkstalkers series, as well as the single game Red Earth. There are four selectable characters representing each series, excluding original character Ingrid and the boss characters Pyron and Shin Akuma. Each character uses a fighting system from the game which determines the techniques they can use and their super move gauge. Ingrid uses her unique fighting style with her own techniques, for a total of six fighting styles.

The game consists of two-on-two endurance-style matches similar to that of Rival Schools: United By Fate. The player selects a pair of character and then begins a match with one character. In the Japanese version of the game, if their current character is defeated for one round, then the next round will begin with the other character. In the North American version, the character can remain the same whether he or she wins or loses.

250px-Castlevania_-_Lament_of_Innocense_%28Gamecover%29.jpg

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

Genre(s) Action-adventure, hack and slash

ament of Innocence is set in the fictional universe of the Castlevania series. Set in 1094, it focuses on the origins of the series' premise—the eternal conflict between the vampire hunters of the Belmont clan and the immortal vampire Dracula.[7] The protagonist and primary player character of Lament of Innocence is Leon Belmont, a former baron[8] and member of the Belmont clan. His close friend, Mathias Cronqvist, tells him that Sara is being held captive by the vampire Walter Bernhard.[9][10] During the game, he encounters Rinaldo Gandolfi, an alchemist and resident of the forest outside Walter’s castle.[11]

Arriving on the castle grounds, Leon meets Rinaldo, who gives him a whip crafted by alchemy to assist in killing the monsters and enchants his gauntlet so he is able to use magic relics within the castle.[12][13] Before leaving for the castle, Leon learns that he must defeat five monsters to gain access to Walter's throne room.[14] Arriving at the castle, Leon proceeds to enter the castle and defeat a Golem, an Undead Parasite, a Succubus, Medusa, and Joachim, a vampire kept prisoner in the castle by Walter.[15][16] Before dying, Joachim mentions the Ebony and Crimson Stones, both of which are created from alchemy,[17] and explains to Leon that the Ebony Stone can produce darkness.[18] From Rinaldo, Leon learns that the Crimson Stone converts the souls of vampires into power for its master.[17]

After Leon reaches Walter’s quarters, he rescues Sara and attempts to slay him with the whip. It has no effect on Walter, and Leon flees with Sara. At Rinaldo's cottage, it is revealed that Sara is slowly becoming a vampire[19] To make the whip effective against Walter, Rinaldo reveals that Leon must sacrifice Sara.[19] Sara overhears their conversation, and begs Leon to kill her and use her soul to save others from suffering her fate.[20] Leon reluctantly completes the ritual, and the Vampire Killer is created.

Leon confronts Walter in the castle and fights him. After Leon defeats Walter, Death takes Walter's soul and offers it up to Mathias; Mathias appears and reveals he had orchestrated everything to obtain Walter's soul and convert it into power for himself using the Crimson Stone.[21] Mathias explains that he chose immortality as a vampire so he could curse God for taking away his beloved wife. He offers Leon the same, but Leon refuses.[22][23] Mathias orders Death to kill Leon, but Leon defeats Death, vowing that the Belmonts will hunt down Mathias and destroy him one day.[24] Leon escapes the castle as it begins to fall apart, and leaves the forest. The game ends with an epilogue, explaining that Mathias became Dracula, the series' main antagonist.

Dragon_Quest_VIII_Journey_of_the_Cursed_King.jpeg

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Genre(s) Role-playing video game

The game begins with the court jester of the kingdom of Trodain, Dhoulmagus, stealing an ancient scepter and casting a spell on Trodain castle. The spell turns the king, King Trode, into a troll; the princess, Medea, into a horse; and the rest of the castle’s inhabitants into plants. The only one left unaffected is the unnamed protagonist, a Trodain guard. The guard, King Trode, and Princess Medea set out on a quest to track down Dhoulmagus and break the spell.[7] They are joined by Yangus, a bandit whose life the hero saves from a collapsing bridge; Jessica, a mage seeking to avenge her brother; and Angelo, a Templar Knight with a penchant for flirting and gambling. Tracking Dhoulmagus' murderous path, the party journeys west, across the ocean. Eventually, the group hunts down Dhoulmagus and kills him, but Dhoulmagus' death fails to break the spell. Jessica claims Dhoulmagus' scepter, and soon after disappears.

Jessica later returns, possessed by the staff and battles the remaining party members in an attempt to murder a young man. After the party releases Jessica from her possession, Jessica tells them that the scepter contains the spirit of Rhapthorne, the Lord of Darkness, who was imprisoned in the scepter long ago by seven sages. He seeks to escape from his prison by killing the descendants of the sages. When Jessica explains this, the scepter takes control of a magician’s dog, Sir Leopold, and kills the magician’s assistant, who was one of the descendants of the sages. The party attempts to seek out and defend the remaining descendants, but Leopold manages to murder most of them, until the scepter comes into the possession of Marcello, Angelo's power hungry half-brother. Marcello kills the last remaining descendant of the sages, but manages to contain Rhapthorne for a time. Eventually, the party engages Marcello for murdering a High priest, expending Marcello's energy and releasing Rhapthorne. The party, aided by the godbird Empryea, faces Rhapthorne and defeats him. With Rhapthorne dead, King Trode, Princess Medea, and the people of Trodain are returned to normal. Months later, the protagonist escorts Medea to Savella Cathedral for her arranged marriage to the spoiled Prince Charmles of Argonia, but before the ceremony can take place, the protagonist and Medea escape from Savella Cathedral and live happily together. In an unlockable extended ending, it is discovered that the protagonist is the lost prince of Argonia. Because he is a prince, the King of Argonia decides to allow the protagonist to marry Medea.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Genre(s) First/Third-person shooter
Action role-playing game

Dirge of Cerberus centers on Vincent Valentine, who is the main playable character, although Cait Sith is also playable for a single level. The game's main antagonists are the members of an organization named Deepground, who are planning to use a creature known as Omega to destroy all life on the Planet. Their highest-ranking members are known as the Tsviets (ツヴィエート Tsuviēto?), and their leader is Weiss the Immaculate (純白の帝王ヴァイス Junpaku no Teiō Vaisu?, lit. "Weiss the Immaculate White Emperor"). The second highest ranking member is Weiss' brother, Nero the Sable (漆黒の闇ネロ Shikkoku no Yami Nero?, lit. "Nero the Jet-black Darkness"), who leads Deepground in the field. Other members of the Tsviets include Rosso the Crimson (朱のロッソ Aka no Rosso?), Shelke the Transparent (無色のシェルク Mushoku no Sheruku?) and Azul the Cerulean (蒼きアスール Aoki Asūru?).[5]

The online mode of the game, which is only available in the Japanese version, also introduces a group called the Restrictors, the former leaders of Deepground before Weiss took over. The Restrictors' leader had implanted microchips into the brainstems of all Deepground soldiers so as to ensure they never turn against the group. However, Weiss was able to overcome this control method, and the Tsviets wrenched control from the Restrictors. Although Weiss was successful in overthrowing the Restrictors, however, the leader of the Restrictors was able to implant a virus into Weiss' bloodstream.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes

Genre(s) Fighting

When the earth and everything on it begins to die, Ruby Heart traces the source to an evil being known as Abyss, the Armor of Erosion. She summons the greatest heroes to her airship to find the being. Ultimately, its source of power is revealed to be a mysterious black metal ball within its center. The ending suggests that the sphere may be worthless now, given the massive crack in it; Ruby Heart holds it in her hand and regards it briefly before throwing it over her back into the water, letting it sink to the bottom.

256px-Suikoden_3.jpg

Suikoden III

Genre(s) Role-playing video game

Suikoden III is set in IS 475, roughly 16 in-game years after the events of Suikoden II. The game takes place in the diverse Grasslands region, an area to the northwest of Dunan from Suikoden II (which itself was to the north of the Toran area from Suikoden). Politically, the Grasslands are mostly controlled by the Six Clans, a loose coalition between the Karaya, Lizard, Duck, Chisha, Safir and Alma Kinan clans. The clans are considered rather backward and barbaric by neighboring powers, and the clans have comparatively smaller towns than the cities seen elsewhere in the Suikoden universe. On the western coast, the merchant nation of Zexen thrives. The Zexens were an ignored offshoot of the Grassland clans long ago, and have since grown to be powerful and independent. Their architecture, politics, and citizenry are similar to Renaissance Western European civilizations. To the east lie imposing mountains and eventually Harmonia, a gigantic and populous nation. Harmonia maintains outposts along the border, notably the submissive, conquered town of Le Buque, formerly a clan from the Grasslands, and the trading citadel Caleria.

All magic in the world of Suikoden comes from Runes. Any person can have a rune inscribed on them, although some people are more talented in their use, and others can inscribe more than one rune (with three as the general maximum). In turn, all power from individual carved runes ultimately descends from the 27 True Runes, which created the world in Suikoden's mythology. Bearers of a True Rune gain tremendous power and do not age; these Runes are thus hotly contested.

Around 50 years prior to the start of Suikoden III, Harmonia attempted to extend its control over the Grasslands, and eventually invaded. Resistance was fierce, and eventually a successful leader known as the Flame Champion emerged from among the clans who was said to bear the True Fire Rune. His followers — considered bandits by the Harmonians — raided the Harmonians constantly and became known as the Fire Bringer. Eventually, a titanic clash was fought between the combined armies of the Grasslands and Harmonia. In it, the Flame Champion unleashed the full power of the True Fire Rune, and both sides suffered tremendous casualties in the resulting raging fire. The battle was a draw, but Harmonia withdrew nevertheless, unwilling to pay any more lives for the land, and a truce was signed.
