Re: NBA Thread - Analysis, Rumours, & Transactions
Julius Randle has agreed to a three-year, $63 million deal with the New York Knicks.
The Knicks had hopes of landing a big fish in free agency with two of their max slots, but instead they will be paying up for Randle. The former Pelicans big man should be surrounded by subpar scorers and ball-handlers, so he'll get every opportunity to put up monster numbers. Randle showed he can thrive in a featured role after the break last season, averaging 24.6 points, 7.6 boards, 3.5 dimes, 0.9 steals and 1.4 treys. He may put up similar numbers with the Knicks next season.

DeMarre Carroll is signing a two-year, $12 million deal with the Spurs, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
He fits the bill as a Spurs forward as a strong defender with a solid jumper, and he likely isn't ticketed for big minutes. Carroll has struggled to stay healthy for the last few seasons, and he may not see more than his 25.4 minutes per game that he played last year.

Bojan Bogdanovic has agreed to a four-year, $73 million deal with the Utah Jazz.
He’s been one of the most durable players, missing between 1-4 games in each of his five NBA season. Bogdanovic put up a career-high 18.0 points per game on a fantastic 50/43/81 shooting line, and the Jazz are likely hoping they can slot him into the four spot in most matchups. His shot attempts will certainly be dropping on a much deeper Jazz offense, and he doesn’t do much besides score. That should cap his fantasy upside as just a late-round pick.

Jeremy Lamb has agreed to a 3-year, $31.5M deal with the Indiana Pacers.
This is a really nice bargain for the Pacers as Lamb is only 27 and coming off a strong season in which he averaged 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 triples. A secondary playmaker and capable 3-point shooter, Lamb finished 7th in the entire NBA in turnover percentage and will immediately step into Bojan Bogdanovic's vacated role. With the Pacers bringing in Malcolm Brogdon to run the point and Victor Oladipo (quad) targeting a return around December, Lamb should get off to a fast start on his new team and has a path to mid-round value after putting up top-60 numbers last season in 9-category leagues.

Al-Farouq Aminu has agreed to a three-year, $29 million deal with the Orlando Magic, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Aminu reportedly wanted to return to the Blazers, but it appears they had other ideas. His tenure in Portland ended on a somewhat sour note, even with their success, with him playing just 14.5 minutes over the last six playoff games. Aminu gives coach Steve Clifford and the Magic another versatile forward that competes defensively.

Kyrie Irving has agreed to a four-year, $142 million deal with Brooklyn.
The Nets get some revenge on the Celtics for their lopsided trade in 2013. Irving gets a lot of flack for his flat-earth and outrageous statements, but he’s coming off a fairly healthy 67-game season with averages of 23.8 points, 5.0 boards, 1.5 steals, 2.6 treys and a career-high 6.9 dimes. Irving may not need to rest as much as he did last season, but his injury history suggests the Nets may be careful when they can, especially with KevIn Durant out. He should fit in quite well to Kenny Atkinson’s system, making Irving a top-25 pick in most formats.

J.J. Redick has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $26.5 million deal with the Pelicans.
Assuming that Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday both start in New Orleans' backcourt next season, it seems likely that the 35-year-old Redick will be operating in a sixth man role with the club next season. It seems unlikely he'll be able to consistently earn minutes in the 30s with the Pelicans, so we'd anticipate his value taking somewhat of a hit here. We wouldn't look his way until the later rounds on draft day.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Pistons have agreed to two-year, $15 million contract with free agent point guard Derrick Rose.
He was having a big year, but injuries kept him on the sidelines for the final month of the season. After playing just 25 games combined in the previous two seasons, Rose was able to log 51 games with 18.0 points per game at 27.3 minutes per outing. The Pistons have struggled with perimeter depth in the last couple years, and Rose figures to get minutes at both guard positions. He could be a late-round pick in fantasy drafts, but most fantasy owners can probably shoot for a guy with a higher floor and/or ceiling.

Khris Middleton has agreed to a 5-year, $178M deal to re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks.
As stated previously, Middleton is taking $12M less than the max and his deal includes a player option on the fifth season. The 2012 second-round pick has come a long way from the Pistons dumping him to the Bucks in a trade. Middleton did fall off slightly last season with a dip in minutes, points and efficiency, but part of that is on the Bucks playing so well under coach Mike Budenholzer. Middleton is still just 27 years old and he’ll be a fixture in the rotation as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s sidekick. Middleton is looking at a third- or fourth-round price tag in standard leagues.

Portland and Damian Lillard have reached an agreement on a four-year, $194 million supermax extension, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
He’s a Blazers legend and is already second on the franchise’s scoring list, and he will likely pass Clyde Drexler at some point in this contract -- Drexler at 18,040 points, Dame at 12,909. Lillard has finished seven seasons with the Blazers, and he’s missed just 25 games combined as one of the most durable stars in the NBA. Dame Dolla just put up a career-high 6.9 dimes per game, adding averages of 25.8 points, 4.6 boards, 1.1 steals and 3.0 treys on a 44/37/91 shooting line. He’ll be a first-round pick in standard leagues yet again.

Combo guard Malcolm Brogdon is being dealt to the Indiana Pacers for a first-round, and two future second-round picks in a sign-and-trade deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The fully guaranteed deal is for four years and $86 million, so the party is on at the Brogdon house tonight, and he could be a star for the Pacers. Darren Collison is retiring and Ricky Rubio, in a shocking move, is going to sign with Phoenix, clearing the way for Brogdon to become their new starting point guard. Aaron Holiday's the only other point guard currently on the roster, so expect the high-scoring Brogdon to be a popular fantasy sleeper this season. He could have a monster year for Indy.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Ricky Rubio has agreed to a three-year, $51 million deal with the Phoenix Suns
His time in Utah didn’t pan out as hoped, with a significant drop in assists, failing to reach seven dimes per game in both years after hitting that mark in all of his six seasons with the Wolves. However, the Suns have been in desperate need of a point guard for a while now, and get a solid, reliable PG in the 28-year old Rubio. With Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton providing plenty of points, a defensive-minded, pass-first point guard is a good fit in Phoenix. He figures to be a value pick in the later middle rounds.
