The new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is now available for Samsung Galaxy E5 with model number SM-E500H. Users can grab the update, which comes with build number “E500HXXU1BOG6,” over-the-air (OTA). But those who are unable to get the OTA update can install the firmware manually.
The new firmware is expected to bring key security enhancements and bug fixes, along with other features. To upgrade the Samsung Galaxy E5 to Android 5.1.1 through an OTA update, users are required to go to the “Settings” option on their device, tap the “About phone” option and then tap the “software update” option to proceed.
Here is a tutorial to install the update manually on the device:
Prerequisites
All personal data on the device must have proper backup
The handset should have at least 80 percent battery power
USB drivers for the Samsung Galaxy E5 must be installed on the computer
USB debugging must be enabled on the phone
Make sure that the device is a Samsung Galaxy E5 with the model number SM-E500H
Any recovery software or custom ROM installed on the handset must be removed
