for rooting your xperia ray devices for the very first time please follow this guide: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
its really easy to follow, but before rooting I assume that you guys downloaded and installed Flashtool on your pc and all the necessary prerequisite for flashing your phone. if not sure about the prerequisite thing then please follow this step:
1. download and install Flashtool, if asked for permission click Continue until the installation is completed.
2. after installing Flashtool, navigate to C:/Flashtool/driver and click the installer in that folder.
3. the installer will display the drivers that you want to install. tick xperia ray driver, fastboot driver, and adb driver then click install. if asked for permission just click Continue until it finishes the installation.
4. after you complete this steps, proceed to the link that I have provided above.
if you guys want to take your phone to extra miles and want to install custom roms to your xperia ray, eg: the Cyanogenmod7 or Cyanogenmod9 or MIUI v4 ICS please follow this steps:
1. follow the necessary prerequesite steps that Ive given above except the last step.
2. download the rom that you want to flash. to make sure, check the rom if it is in zip format and also check if the rom has boot.img in it. boot.img is the kernel that we will install later to your devices, it also updates your phone's cwm. remember dont unzip all files, we need the rom in its zip format. roms are available around the web just google for them. a lot of roms are roaming you just need to search for them. Cyanogenmod7 is fully compatible with xperia ray, go to their site(google it) and download the rom from them, i dont know about Cyanogenmod9. there are also unofficial releases like the MIUI v4 which is based on the stock ICS rom of xperia ray so most functionality will work without errors. you can search for these roms at google by typing 'xda developer miui v4 xperia ray'. before downloading any roms please read their changelogs for you guys to know which are working or not and since most MIUI v4 for xperia ray is based on stock xperia ray rom expect that most of them will work flawlessly.
3. put the downloaded rom in the root folder of your sdcard. actually you can put it in any folder of your sdcard, its just for easier access.
4. extract the boot.img from the downloaded rom and put this boot.img inside this folder: C:/Flashtool/x10flasher_lib
do not attempt to mess with other files within this folder since they are critical files for flashing specially the fastboot.exe.
5. ok so where ready to flash your phone! turn off your phone. hold the up button of your phone while connecting it to the usb port of your pc.wait until your pc detects your phone in fastboot mode. in some instances a pop up windows will display that it needs to install some drivers, just tick the automatically install driver. and wait for it to finish.
6. please read entire step 6 before roceeding. open cmd or command prompt. then type the following:
cd C:/Flashtool/x10flasher_lib
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot boot.img
"note: the command fastboot devices is done to let you know if the device is successfully connected through fastboot. it is successfully connected if cmd displays some serial number."
you successfully flash a new kernel if the cmd displays no error.
7. wait for atleast 5secs then unplug your phone.
8. power on your phone. while your phone is booting up repeatedly tap the volume+ key of your phone to boot cwm.
nav keys:
back button: back (as usual)
home button: select
menu button: down
volume+: up
volume-: down
9. we will now install the rom. yeepee! while on cwm, select install zip from sdcard. then select the rom that we placed in the root of your sdcard which is the zip file. wait until the installation is completed.
10. go back to the main menu of cwm. select format user data.
11. reboot! the first boot from new rom is kinda slow since the system configs or optimize your phone for the first use.
12. enjoy!
ang haba haha! sensya nakamobile lang po. btw, this guide is universal. pwede sa GB,ICS o JB(jellybean). you can use this on any roms that you want to install. it can also be used on any xperia 2011 devices. hindi copy paste to ah. sana makatulong.

sa settings>dev options> check mo yung usb debugging, tapos sa security, yung unknown sources check mo din.
yup yung nasa tutorial ko po sa may sig ko.
