Tested CyanogenMod 10.1 RC-5 and FXP 224 on my Xperia V.

Advantages over Stock ROM:

Lower RAM usage than Stock (Saved more or less 40Mb of RAM).
Noticeably low battery usage than Stock (Depends on Kernel you are using)
More customization
Pie controls + Expanded desktop feature
Snappier than Stok ROM
Bloat-free

I will post a tutorial from Unlocking bootloader to Installing CyanogenMod ROM/FreeXperia sa mga may gusto.

Tutorial How to Unlock Bootloader/Flash Custom ROMs on Xperia V by vaLium10

Text heavy yung TUT ko dahil magsisimula tayo from scratch.
Tested on Windows 7 64bit.
Flash at your own risk.

Things you'll need:

Internet Connection
Android SDK (download it here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#download)
Java Runtime Environment (64bit Offline Installer, 32bit Offline Installer)
Compatible Custom ROMS (CyanogenMod,FXP,etc)
Windows 7 PC
Patience
Common Sense

Things you'll need just incase something goes wrong:

Stock .ftf ROM files
FlashTool by Androxyde & Bin4ry
Patience
Common Sense

Step 1:

First download and install Java Runtime Environment. Download Links above.

After Installation go to:

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced system settings > Environment Variables

In the System variables Tab, look for Path then Edit and add these line:

;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin

Note: Kung 32bit OS yung gamit nyo palitan nyo nalang yung Location path, for 64bit OS lang yung nasa taas.

So magiging ganito na sya:
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin

Screenshot:

Step 2:

Second, Download the Android SDK. Download Link above.

After downloading, extract the Downloaded zip file and move to C:/Android

So magiging C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130522

After moving Android SDK, Balik tayo sa System variables.

;C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130522\sdk\platform-tools

Si magiging ganito na sya.
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin;C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130522\sdk\platform-tools

Screenshot:
dgkwnn.png

Note: after Installing Android SDK kelangan may papalitan tayong Batch file para gumana yung Android SDK natin.

Download nyo yung Android.rar then extract tapos move to:
C:/Android/XXXXXXXXXX/sdk/tools.

Step 3:
Launch Android SDK in C:/Android/XXXXXXXXX/SDK manager

Then look for Google USB Driver and Install. Wait for it.

Step 4:
Unlocking your Xperia V Bootloader. (This will break your Xperia V warranty but we can still Relock the Bootloader to retain warranty of our Xperia V)

Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Look for 'Start unlocking the Bootloader'

After successfully unlocking the Bootloader, Proceed to Step 5.

Step 5:

Download any Custom ROMS you want:

CyanogenMod: (I prefer Stable Release)
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Tsubasa_Info

FreeXperia: (Look for Tsubasa.zip, use Unrestrict.li or any Premium links for faster download)
https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/download/cyanogen-mod-10-1

After Downloading the Custom ROM, Let's start Flashing! (Wooohhhhooooooooooo!!)

Extract the boot.img of your Custom ROM and place it on:
C:/Boot.img

Move your .zip Custom Rom on your External SD Card of your Xperia V.

After that, turn off your phone.
Connect USB then LONG Press Volume Up button. Dapat sabay.
Kung umilaw ng blue led yung phone nyo, proceed to next step. Kung hindi umilaw, reconect usb then try again.

After that:

Open Windows command prompt.

type:

fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot C:/boot.img

Pagkatapos

fastboot -i 0xfce reboot

When the phone reboots showing Boot Logo showing "Free Xperia" keep pressing volume Up button para lumabas yung Recovery Menu.

After accessing recovery use your Volume Up (UP), Volume Down (DOWN), Power Button (OK) to Navigate.

Select Option 'Wipe data/Factory reset
Select 'install zip from sdcard'
Select 'choose zip from external sdcard'
select your Custom ROM and wait for Installation

After successfully Installed, Choose 'go back' and look for 'reboot system now'

Congrats!

Thanks!

Installing Google Apps in your Custom ROM

Download Google Apps here:
http://goo.im/gapps

Dapat tamang version yung kukunin nyo para maiwasan yung Semi-brick,etc.

After downloading, Place the .zip file on your Xperia V External SD Card

Reboot your phone

When Boot Logo appears 'Free Xperia' (Not CyanogenMod animation), keep pressing Volume Up to access Recovery menu

Navigate to 'install zip from SD card then 'choose zip from external sdcard'

Done.

Relocking/Reflashing to Original Stock ROM soon.
