Square Enix reveals Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

Theatrhythm-Final-Fantasy-Thumb.jpg

Expecting Square Enix to announce a new Final Fantasy RPG for the Nintendo 3DS? You may have to wait a little longer because, instead of that, they’ve unveiled Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a Final Fantasy-themed rhythm game. As andrisang reports:

The game has field scenes set in dungeons and towns, and battle scenes that resemble the side-view battles of older Final Fantasy games. However, everything is played like a rhythm game, where you tap the screen in accordance with prompts.

If you’re a fan of more traditional Final Fantasy games though, at the very least the music is pulled from previous instalments of the franchise. You can see a glimpse of the graphics after the break.

First look at Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

Square Enix has released the first screenshots and the logo for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a rhythm game based around the Final Fantasy universe. You can check them out after the break.

Plenty of Final Fantasy fans are wary of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a rhythm game which was announced a few days ago. But one facet of the game that may bring skeptics in for a closer look is the music itself. The soundtrack you’ll be playing with is a collection of the major songs from the numbered Final Fantasy games.

These are the tracks that are confirmed:

Clash on the Big Bridge (Final Fantasy V)
One Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII)
At Zanarkand (Final Fantasy X)
The Sunleth Waterscape (Final Fantasy XIII)
The Final Fantasy main theme
You can also check after the break to listen to the main theme of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy which is an original composition.

First look at Need for Speed: The Run on the 3DS

In the console versions of Need for Speed: The Run seven percent of the game is set on-foot. But that part of the game is not in the 3DS version. It’s 100% driving and 0% on-foot action, which sounds good to me. Greg Miller of IGN, who has spent some time with the game seems to think it works great too. Miller says that The Run on the 3DS is “not watered down and does the sleek cars justice.” It also apparently “handles really well.”

He explains:

Gas and brake are up on the shoulder buttons with face buttons controlling drift and boost. Like other racing games, you fill the boost meter by driving into oncoming traffic and pulling off crazy stunts.

Feature-wise, there’s StreetPass support that exchanges your race times with other gamers, along with mini-challenges, which Miller explains as “having to trace a U-turn logo on the touch screen to keep from dying and swerving to avoid some gun-toting maniac/helicopter chasing me.”

Miller ends with this thought:

While I’m totally cool with being able to run through the streets or whatever in Need for the Speed: The Run on consoles, I’m happy it’s not here on the 3DS. This version looks like it’s all about racing, crashes and Takedowns, and that’s fine by me.

…and this definitely sounds promising. I’d love an actual Burnout game on the 3DS, but this sounds as close as possible to a Burnout game without actually being branded under that name. Check after the break for a bunch of screenshots.

Mega Man Legends 3 has been cancelled

Mega-Man-Legends-3-Cancelled.jpg

We were worried this would happen. Mega Man Legends 3 has been cancelled. It’s a big shame, especially in light of Assassin’s Creed being cancelled, Ninja Gaiden remaining in very early development and CRUSH3D being delayed because of the 3DS having a low adoption rate at this point. You can check after the full break for the direct message from Capcom regarding this cancellation.

We’d like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.

more here capcom-unity

lol as expected icacancel na nga ito ng capcom
