ubuntu linux post everything hir...

Been using ubuntu since ver 7.04 and has always been happy on it. Dating bayanihan din and red hat ako pero walang sinabi sa ubuntu. installation is a breeze. magaan pa sa system ko.

Para sa mga long time user ng Ubuntu, kindly help me please.

I've tried to install Ubuntu 8.10 in my unit pero pag mag iinstall na ko dun palang sa loading ng installation files nagha-hang na unit ko. Suspect ko yung video card ko, by the way im using NVIDIA GFX 5500. So, tinanggal ko muna yung VC ng unit at yung built-in muna ginamit ko. Then try ko ulit i-run yung Ubuntu, tapos tumuloy na yung installation hanggang matapos. Actually, im trying to explore na using Ubuntu, kaso maikli lang talaga pasensya ko pag dating sa exploring nung software. In short, hindi ko na-resolve yung problem ng video card ko.

Question lang po para sa lahat. What seems to be the problem of my system unit?

Sana po mag post ng reply, especially to those Ubuntu users...

ok tlg ubuntu lalo na di tinatablan ng virus ... all you need is to updte the sofwer wich is free
at ubuntu is for advance user ang windows xp,vista pang amature for me ..

Nakaka-enganyong gumamit ng ubuntu.. baka maging triple OS na ko ah... XP+Windows7 (+ubuntu?). Pwede ba un?

@extra rice.... yung sa cousin ko.. nvidia din sya.. pero nag proceed naman ng installation eh...

actually kasi may bug pag dating sa nvidia sa ubuntu.. ganyan din yung mga friends ko.. nvidia.. ayaw mainstall.. naghhang sila...

pero tinggal ko nga din VC.. nag proceed na sya. nung kinabit ko nmn na ulit.. wala nmn nangyari.. i just type this command to the terminal...

sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx

then after yan

sudo nvidia-glx-config enable

pag nag fail sya. ibig sabhin hindi sya compatible... kasi ganyan ung tinuro nung prof namin.. kasi clasmyt ko naka amd at nvidia.. nag ok nmn sa kanya... buti na lang naalala ko at nasa notebook ko..hahaha...

First of all, thanks for this useful reply madam.. So you mean, dapat ko munang i-type tong mga commands na ito sa terminal bago ko ulit ilagay yung VC ko? tama po ba? And, Saang terminal po ba? Yung terminal na nasa desktop lang or yung terminal using Ctrl + Alt then F1?

'pag ginagawa kong livecd yung ubuntu8.10 sa laptop ko bakit wala yung resolution na 1280x800 para sakanya? ang baba ng resolution. walang higher resolutions available sa System->Preferences->Screen Resolution.

ung sakin last year pa ko nag request ng shipit hanggang ngayon wala parin....
iniipit yata sa post office... walang dumarating sakin ......

but for those people using gutsy...the ctrl - alt - f1 merong bug 129910... which black screen lang sya...
