Okay, thanks for your answers.

1. Ikaw na ang nagsabi na Windows-based CD Drivers ang gusto mong gamitin...hindi po gagana yan kahit mag-wine ka pa kasi you are trying to install drivers for your computer's hardware (video card and printer). The solution is to find drivers on the Internet. Luckily there are ATI drivers for Linux-based Operating Systems like Ubuntu.

In Ubuntu, there is a one-click tool that checks for your video card and tries to find Linux-based drivers. Go to System (by default it is found at the upper-left portion of the main window of Ubuntu)-->Administration-->Hardware Drivers. If you're connected to the Internet, hahanapin na agad ni Ubuntu yung drivers mo para sa video card.

2. Hindi po 100% ng Windows applications ay gumagana sa Wine. Kailangan lagi po bibisitahin ang website ng Wine to check, kasi Windows applications/software are being tested regularly to see how well they can work with Wine. This response is really not within the topic, pero ni-share ko na lang din. Kasi kung tutuusin, hardware device drivers ang laman ng CD mo eh, so it's a different issue.

3. If you don't know the model of your ATI Video Card, you may want to go to Windows (assuming naka-dual boot ka pa) and go to Device Manager para makita mo. Or you can try to download "Sysinfo" or "Device Manager" in Ubuntu. Nasabi ko na sa post ko kanina kung papaano.

Yung sa printer mo I think may drivers yan sa Internet na Linux. Basa-basa lang, try mo i-Google. Something like (device) driver Ubuntu 10.04. So using that as an example, ang i-type mo sa Google ay Epson CX4800 driver Ubuntu 10.04 or something like that. I'm sure maraming search results yan since hindi naman latest model ang CX4800. Kaka-try ko lang i-Google eh.

Basta important, always remember you are not using Windows anymore. You are using Linux, so you can't use Windows-based drivers to install your hardware.

Para sa #3: Pag hindi mahanap ng Ubuntu yung drivers mo for ATI, nasa iyo pa ba ang box ng video card mo? Nakasulat yun doon. For example, ATI Radeon (2 letters) (numbers). Kung naka-Windows ka pa, anong Windows ang gamit mo?

No problem, glad to know I was able to help. What is your printer brand and model? Yes, medyo mahirap maghanap ng printer driver para gumana lahat ng features sa Linux-based OS. Pero subukan natin.

EDIT: sorry ikaw rin pala ang nag-post previously. Epson CX4800 tama?

1. Ano yung hindi gumagana: print? scan? or both?

2. Nag-download ka na ba ng application for scanning sa "Ubuntu Software Center?" If not, please look for the following, type mo lang sa search box:
a. xsane - download mo yung XSane Image Scanner
b. libsane - maraming lalabas. Download mo yung libsane and libsane-extras

I just checked and all these 3 applications are available to download via the "Ubuntu Software Center" sa Ubuntu 10.04. Ubuntu Software Center = isipin mo na lang na kumbaga sa Windows ay may "Windows Update", "Ubuntu Software Center" naman ang sa Linux-based na OS.

Nag-post na ako ng instructions kung papaano gamitin ang "Ubuntu Software Center" sa previous page. Or you can view post #53. Or kung di ka sinisipag ( ) eto yung link ng post #53: http://www.symbianize.com/showpost.php?p=3500129&postcount=53. Maaaring iba ang path papunta sa "Ubuntu Software Center" sa 9.10 compared sa 10.04 pero bandang huli pareho lang din sila.

This method is the easiest na puwede kong i-share sa mga newbies kagaya ko. May iba pang method ng pag-install sa Linux, which is by using the Terminal (yun ang tawag sa DOS Box or Command line ng mga Linux-based OS). Siguro next time ko na i-share, mas maganda dahan-dahan lang ang pag-transition from Windows to Linux; familiarize muna natin ang sarili natin. Pero if you want, here are some reading materials:

Sorry di ko pa na-try ang Unlimited Browsing Technique sa mga USB dongles, kahit sa Windows di ko pa nagagawa yan since may DSL subscription naman ako. So di ko masasagot ang tanong mo. Puwede mo ba i-describe sakin kung papaano ginagawa yan sa Windows? In that way baka masagot ko yung tanong mo.

Hi Friend,

Maraming applications na gumagamit ng tunnels/proxies for Ubuntu, pero wala pa akong alam for Unlimited/Free Browsing sa mga USB dongles since di naman ako gumagamit nun, sorry.

However, if you want to try out some tunneling and proxy applications for Ubuntu, I can share some to you: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Tor.

Or..you may want to install Wine. And then use the Windows-based applications there, baka gumana. Ang wine ay isang compatibility layer application (parang emulator pero hindi emulator ang Wine). Then try to follow the instructions in the other posts here for using the FBT/UBT.

Let's try to solve this problem. Pero may mga tanong lang ako and please do your best to be very specific, since sa forum lang tayo nag-uusap. Para ma-visualize ko kung ano ang nangyari.

1. What version of Ubuntu do you have?
2. How did you install Ubuntu? Live Desktop/CD (through Wubi installer)? Permanent installation?
3. When was the last time your computer was working? Was it working when you already had Windows and Ubuntu running at the same time?
4. Can you remember the exact steps you did (please enumerate all the steps/actions) that led to this error?
5. When your computer boots up, can you still press F8 so that you can select to boot in Windows Safe Mode, or at least try to choose System Recovery so that you can reload the last known good configuration of your system? Take note that if you chose last known good configuration...if you have saved some files or installed some applications in between that period puwedeng mabura yun, since Windows will load to a last known working state.

There are a lot of troubleshooting steps that will solve your problem, but I'd like to clarify that although problems seem to be the same, most of the time they are not exactly the same. Kaya careful ako bago magbigay ng steps.

At sir bkt pu pag mag lalagy aq sa terminal ng code my lumanas na nid ko ng password.. pero pag mag lalagay aq ng password ayaw namn mag type.. ayaw lumbas un tntype ko sa keyboard..
