ubuntu linux post everything hir...

Ayh.. Hehe.. Sori nahuli ako nang sagot.. Kasi sa akin ang ginawa ko eh, gamit ang ffox, browse ako youtube, tapos ayun reklamo sya na old daw ang flash ko, kaya update, tap0s ayun, install.. Hehe.. Ang wine lang ang ininstall ko using terminal.. Hehe.

Nyak, andito ka rin pala. :) May nilagay na akong sagot sa tanong mo about flash dun sa isang thread kung saan nag-post ka.

Welcome and hopefully your Ubuntu installation went well. :) I am practically a newbie myself, siguro netong April lang ako nag-start. Akala ko dati ang hirap gamitin ng mga Linux-based na Operating System. Siguro dati yun. Pero ngayon I think pinadali na ng mga developers, medyo user-friendly na siya and while they still maintained heavy usage of the Terminal (think of it as the "DOS" box of MS Windows), they have made improvements para yung user experience ay parang MS Windows na rin...tipong point-and-click kumbaga. :)

So for newbies like me, I would recommend i-maximize mo ang paggamit ng Ubuntu Software Center. Halos lahat ng "to-do" items after installing Ubuntu ay magagawa mo mula dun. Another tip: punta ka sa Google, type mo "after installing Ubuntu 10.04" (without the ""). Maraming lalabas na URLs/websites na magbibigay sayo ng tips kung ano ang mga kailangang gawin pagka-install ng Ubuntu such as download ka ng codecs, flash, fonts, etc. Think of them as parang first steps pagka-install ng Windows mo.

1.how can i connect to the internet with ubuntu 9.04?i only use globe modem stick to connect to the internet with my win7.and sa ubuntu indi ko alam paano...
2.how can i install windows apps sa ubuntu?
3.how can i do or install the compiz?

thanks..newbie sa ubuntu..oh wait kahit siguro sa newbie stat di ako pasok dun eh..

Hi Friend,

Sorry kakagising ko lang. These error messages appear as a result of either the following:

1. Di ka nag-execute ng command as root (mapapansin mo na kailangang mag-type ka ng "sudo" sa Terminal, and then you will be prompted to enter your password).
2. Di po puwede magdownload through Terminal and at the same time may dina-download yung Synaptic Package Manager or Ubuntu Software Center, or Hardware Drivers.
3. Make sure yung Software Sources mo na-check mo. Pag walang source, walang makikita si Ubuntu.


Ang ibig sabihin kasi ng error message na nakikita mo ay, hindi ma-lock ni Ubuntu yung connection dahil di niya ma-access, or may ibang nag-aaccess na application na nauna. :) Kaya yung bagong command, or application na gusto mong paganahin ayaw.

Tip:

1. Wag pagsabayin ang pag-download/update using Terminal and GUI (Graphical User Interface) - based (also called point-and-click) na apps for downloading updates like Ubuntu Software Center and Synaptic Package Manager.
2. Eto out of the topic, pero napansin ko medyo natutuwa kang gumamit ng "sudo" sa Terminal. Medyo mag-iingat ka lang sa paggamit...hindi lahat ng commands ay dapat gamitan ng sudo. Please, please...basahin muna ito: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo.

answer ko sa 3.) Punta ka sa application tapz click mo un ubuntu software center tapz i-search mo dun un compiz.. kahit un wine dun mo din mkikita.. :thumbsup:

Tnx sa advice kuya.. tama ka tnry ko kz mag dl habng nag uupdate aq.. tapz gumamit aq ng sudo sa flash player at themes.. heheh.. dami ko nid matutunan thanks sa LINK..!!:thumbsup:

Welcome, and we hope you're enjoying Ubuntu as well! :) Ayaw mo i-try yung latest version (10.04)? If you have time you may want to try it. ;)

Don't worry and wag po mahiya, I still consider myselft as a newbie. :) Switching from something na nakasanayan na natin for years, to something else, is not something that takes minutes. May learning curve yan, so okay lang. Sabay-sabay nating pag-aralan ito. :D Anyway sorry kagigising ko lang. Eto ang mga responses ko, sana makatulong.

For #3:

1. Let's check first if your video card can support "special effects". Go to System-->Preferences-->Appearance.
2. May magbubukas na window; it's for setting up themes, buttons, and effects --iba't-ibang tabs. Click mo yung tab pertaining to special effects.
3. You're supposed to be able to select from 3 choices: None (no special effects), Normal, and yung last obviously is with special effects.
4. If you are able to make a selection, that means your video card can support Compiz Fusion. If not, try mo muna i-update ang video card drivers mo. Just go to System-->Administration-->Hardware Drivers. Ubuntu will automatically find drivers for most hardware.
5. Next step: you can simply download Compiz Fusion from the Ubuntu Software Center. Just follow the same guide sa response ko sa question #2 mo. Type mo lang sa search field ng Ubuntu Software Center yung "compiz" (without "") as the keyword search. ;)

EDIT: sorry mali yung response ko sa #2 (kagigising ko lang, wala pa sa tamang wisyo, hahaha!). Just download WINE from Ubuntu Software Center as well. NOTE: not all applications work 100% the same way as they would in Windows versus in Ubuntu using Wine.

Check ko lang: paano mo ni-install ang Compiz Fusion? Paanong animation ang tinutukoy mo, by the way? Nga pala, kailangan install mo rin yung compiz fusion plug-ins. :)

Na-try mo na ba gawin yung mga "things to do after installing Ubuntu" nung nag-search ka sa Google? Kasama kasi dun ang pag-install ng Compiz Fusion eh. :)

To be honest hindi ako gumagamit ng WINE. Although napapagana ng WINE ang mga Windows-based programs and applications, hindi 100% na gumagana ang lahat ng functionalities ng Windows-based program na gusto mong paganahin. For example ako ginagamit ko ang MS Excel sa work ko. May mga features and functions na hindi gumagana sa WINE kapag gumagamit ako ng MS Excel like automatically updating a graph, or Pivot Table. For games naman, for example although gumagana sila like Need for Speed, hindi naman available lahat ng graphics options the same way na nasasagad ko ang graphics ng kotse, na tipong fluid na talaga ang animation. Mas maganda basahin muna ang WINE website, and i-check mo kung na-test na nila yung application or program na gusto mong i-install to see kung gaano ka-stable yung Windows-based application na yun pag ginamit sa WINE.

If you really want to use WINE you always have to check the website of WINE. Kasi may mga nagte-test ng Windows applications and they rate kung gaano ka-functional yung application or program na yun pag ginagamit sa WINE. Nira-rank nila yun by "Platinum", "Gold", "Silver", or "Bronze". Pag Platinum ang rating ng application or program ibig sabihin gumagana lahat ng features ng program na yun pag pinagana mo sa WINE. Based sa mga nabasa ko sa website ng WINE, kaunti lang ang mga programs na gusto ko na may "Platinum" rating. That's why I still have a dual-boot configuration (Windows). Kung gamer ka, mas maganda may dual-boot ka. Less hassle. Then as you master Ubuntu, saka mo na diskartehan yung mag-full migration ka na sa Ubuntu and never to use Windows again. Kung other applications naman like office applications, sikapin mong matutunan ang mga Linux equivalents. For example: kung ang Windows ay may MS Office, ang Linux-based OS naman ay may Open Office. So ngayon inaaral kong gamitin ang Open Office, kaysa mag-WINE at gumamit pa ng MS Office. Yun ang true essence ng migration...as in hindi ka na talaga gagamit ng Windows-based na applications. ;)

May mga sagot and tutorials dito for the most common questions, lalo na sa mga kaka-install lang ng Ubuntu sa computer nila: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/index. Sobrang helpful, ginawa itong site na ito with the ultimate newbie in mind. Gaya ng sabi ko sayo sa mga posts ko kanina, saka na yung mga sudo-sudo, pagdaanan muna natin ang basics. Andito sa URL na ito ang common questions like:

- paano ma-install ang flash
- paano magdownload ng software
- paano mag-add ng repositories
- paano mag-setup ng WINE
- paano ba talaga ang tamang paggamit ng sudo, ano ang dapat ingatan, etc.
- paano mag-dual boot
- paano, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks sa compliment mo. :) Pero I think mas madadalian ang mga forum members kung hindi tayo gagawa ng sobrang daming threads about Ubuntu. Mas madali na nakalagay lang sa kaunti (mas maganda nga sana kung isa lang) na thread, kasi ang mga forum boards ay may feature na kung tawagin ay "Search this thread". Mas madali mag-search sa loob ng isang thread, kaysa magsearch ng maraming thread tapos sa loob ng bawat thread magse-search pa ulit. :) Yun lang ang palagay ko.

Un nid ko po kz sa compiz un sa animation.. tska pu pla nagagawa ko na din un cylinder sphere at box sa compz.. hahah!! :rofl: kakatwa at maganda tlga linux.. nga pu pla my working download manager ba para sa linux?? un sa sudo tlga gus2 ko din m22nan.. hehe.. lalu na sa pag aapply ng themes gamit un sudo. :rofl:
 
Sir gumaganda na effect ng linux ko.. haah!! marunung na aq mag edit gamit ang compiz... astig animation!!
