You mean Linux Mint.
Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution, so it's pretty much the same.

Alright.
It's okay to install Linux Mint since it's Ubuntu-based. Yup, Linux Mint is recommended for newbies to Linux. It's sometimes called a "Beginner's Linux". Anyway that's the only difference between Linux Mint and Ubuntu...some of the proprietary drivers and codecs are already pre-installed. In Ubuntu they are not pre-installed but can easily be done because Ubuntu has a Software Center. Just type in the search box, click install, reboot your computer (you will be asked to do this in some cases), and you're done.Anyway, it's just the same with Microsoft Windows...not all hardware drivers are included by default...sometimes you have to install them after installing Microsoft Windows.
Due to this, I still recommend for you to try Ubuntu so that you can learn Linux better.

ah ok po.. Gamit ko dati ubuntu m.meerkat.. E nagformat ulit ako try ko naman ung mint.. Ang gusto ko lang sa ubuntu ang smooth magplay ng mga HD movies e dun sa windows dami pang settings and apps na gagawin tas lag din pag madaming nagalaw.. Sa ubuntu default lang ang smooth e bakit kaya.

Well...
1. Linux Operating Systems is built based on the concept of efficiency, meaning less stressful ang Linux sa system and hardware resources. Kung sa Microsoft ang labanan ay pataasan ng hardware specs, sa Linux naman ang usapan diyan ay, "Sa gaano kababang specs mong kayang patakbuhin ang Linux nang maganda at maayos?" That's why in terms of Server Computing, Linux ang nangunguna. Sa Home Computing lang naman patok ang Microsoft.
2. Linux is Open Source. When software is open source, it means that the "source code" or yung pinaka-puso at sikreto ng isang code ng isang application/software ay puwedeng makita ng madlang tao. Therefore, a lot of developers will turn their interest in further improving the application/software. Unlike Microsoft which is Closed Source, so meaning hindi nila sine-share ang source code. Therefore, ang puwede lang mag-develop at mag-enhance or improve ng isang software/application na closed source ay yung mga tao lang na authorized na gawin yun.

suggestion po....
sa tingin ko po maglagay din po kayo ng tut ng ubuntu tweaks.
kasi maganda kasi syang company ng ubuntu..mas simplified ang instalation ng mga software.tapos kung my problem sila pwede nilang recover ung buong system with a click...matagal ko ni rin syang gamit and save me a dozen time pag nagkakaron me ng problem.yon lang po
more power sayo...at sa mga naniniwala sa kapangyarihan ng linux.god bless

install mo lang sir ung usbmodeswitch ..
di ko alam kung preinstalled na ung usbmodeswitch jan .. pero malamang installed na dahil later version yang OS mo ..
salpak mo lang ung mf627 mo then madedetect na yan .. normally kasi pag walang usbmodeswitch.. ung usb mo ay cdrom lang .. makikita mo dun ung dashboard app and drivers ng modem mo for windows .. gudlak ..

Hi Friend,
Depende. Are you installing LInux Mint? Ano ba yan, update? Depende sa Internet connection speed mo. Also remember that you are using a Live USB and not a Live CD (nabasa ko sa previous post mo na Live USB ang ginamit mo). Medyo mas mabagal ang transfer rate ng USB compared sa CD.

bossing patulong naman po nahihirapan po ako iinstall yung smart bro modem ko (longcheer wm66a) sa ubuntu 10.04 ,na try ko na po yung command na "lsusb" pati usb-modeswitch di yata supported.. anu po kaya compatible na distro neto yung auto detect, sana meron
