Are Filipinos Really Religious People? Or Need To Be Reminded?

I think Filipinos aren't really religious people, dami crime na ngyayari siksikan na mga kulungan.
While sa Netherlands which have more atheist than theist eh sinasara ang mga kulungan dahil walang kinukulong.
I see Filipinos treat religion na parang isang kulturang kinagisnan natin.
I could be wrong though but reality tells a different story

not all filipino, meron parin tayong makikita na mga filipino na maka Diyos. pero mas nangibabaw lng ang kasamaan dito sa pinas. why? dahil sa impluwensya. mas malakas na kasi ang pwersa ni satanas dito sa pinas dahil, karamihan sa mga tao dito, makamundong bagay lang ang iniisip..
i am muslim pero khit ako naobserve ko na mali ang gngwa ng karamihan, at nag masakit, naging mindset na ng iilan na kapag muslim masasama.

@ exaflare, yes agree with you parang walang takot sa Diyos or no fear of God walang mga kunsensiya! Imperfect tayu bilang tao hindi ibig sabihin aasal na tayu na parang animal or parang hayop! Filipinos treat religion as tradition ang daming krimen dito ang taas! Talo pa tayu ng mga katabing bansa isa etong malaking kahihiyan! Yes, 100% true the actions tells a different story!
Philippines is a predominantly religious country, so you can expect that a lot of Filipinos identify as belonging to the dominant sect.
But just because they identify as such doesn't mean that they practice the faith religiously.
I think that most of Filipinos (in my opinion) are viewing religion as an inherited tradition instead of an absolute necessity.
In other words, convenient church-goers.

@ toperloid, yes i strongly agree with you is that Philippines is a predominant religious country. Yes ofcourse they identify themselves belonging to a dominant sect. Yes they are identified to a certain religious sect but their practice is contrary to their belief! Yes I agree with you that most Filipinos treat religion as inherited tradition instead of absolute necessity! Yes convenient church goers! But it is a good thing observe the religion where they are raised!

TS, Relihiyosong mga tao ang pilipino. Dahil sa kahirapan kayat kaliwa't kanan ang krimen. Sinu ba naman ang di makagawa ng masama, kung kumakalam na ang sikmura. @ Kieto kung ano ang puno siya rin ang bunga! Kung masama ang puno ang bunga ay masama at kung mabuti ang puno ang bunga ay mabuti rin! Kaya kung napabilang ka sa maling relihiyon o paniniwala ang dapat gawin ay simulan ng umalis! Lumayas sa maling relihiyun na yan!

You should read history to learn the effect of religion having too much effect on ones life. Needless to say it caused war and death.
