ubuntu is a debian based.. yang prototype linux gawa ni ts ay ubuntu based na debian based.. kaya debian based sya pero ubuntu ang source.

Re: Gawa tayo nang Ubuntu based Distribution?! Yung proudly Pinoy made

Thank you Gian20 at ninetailedfox for commenting and clarifyinf things.

Siguro a little history po para maitindihan.

Eskwela OS v.1:
-based on Xubuntu 14.04 LTS
-applications were modified
-Xubuntu structure was kept in tact
-resulted to 1.3 - 1.6 Gb ISO
-UI combi Windows 10, Macintosh, Elementary
-32bit only

Eskwela OS v.2
-based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
-pure xfce desktop environment
-some apps removed (compared to v.1)
-resulting iso: 900+ MB
-UI: Windows 8/10 (look-a-like: Linux Mint)
-64bit released
-32bit soon to be released
-32bit "Master's/Hackers" version (Hopefully)

proposed version 3:
-based on ubuntu 16.04 LTS
-Openbox environment (less RAM usage)
-modified apps
-resulting iso: unknown (hopefully less than version 2)
-UI: "A touch of Filipino spirit" :-)
-32bit and 64bit, (hopefully ARM architecture din)
-tests on touchscreen hybrid laptops/tablets

Keep supporting and helping po.
Sorry po talaga.

Keep OpenSource alive! Go tayo mga Pinoys!

- - - Updated - - -

or gusto niyo po, Debian base agad? :-)
open possibility rin po yan for version 3.
I'll try to cater to your wants, suggestions.
At sana magamit natin ang dead or older computers natin.

Salamat po talaga sa support.
It means a lot.

Then ang support or updates ay good for a year lang.
Inaabot ng 1-2 years.
Pero hindi up-to-date all the time.

May rumors po talaga about the Amazon Leak.
But sa derivatives po ng Ubuntu like: Xubuntu, Kubuntu or Lubuntu

Salamat po talaga for sharing your thoughts!
Go tayo mga Linux users! :-)

Re: Filipino-made Linux Distribution: Eskwela OS (Introduction & Links)

AFAIK debian stable yung official release ng debian. medyo mas luma ang versions ng mga apps pero as the description says, mas stable yun. anytime pwede mo naman ilipat sa debian sid or debian testing.^_^

- - - Updated - - -

@TS, question po. if im using an older version of eskwela OS and want to upgrade to version 2, can i use sudo apt-get update &&sudo apt-get upgrade immediately or may repo ako na dapat tanggalin o idagdag?

Re: Filipino-made Linux Distribution: Eskwela OS (Introduction & Links)

TS if my time kapa sa v3 mo..maganda yung transparent parang windows 7 yung sa task bar..if pwede lng and paki add na din ng hacking tools for wifi. :) :) :)

Legitimate question po! :-)
Thumbs up po ako.
Ang version 2 po is a slimmed down version .
Ang tweak po sa v2 is its UI and desktop environment.
version 1 uses xubuntu architecture
version 2 uses pure xfce (less consumption sa RAM compared to v1)
parehong kernel at updates makukuha mo.
Since both get it from Ubuntu Trusty, no need to add repo po.

Medyo mahaba. :-)

Thank you po sa suggestion. :-)

Yung regular release po is for general purpose.
Pang day-to-day work po ang regular release.
Hacker's version po for advanced users or
for penetration testing. :-)

Salamat po sa pagcomment.

tama po yan sir. :-)
Try ko po yan ecorrect with the release of the 32 bit version 2 at Hacker's version.

I will try to edit those files asap and compile it soon.

Sa tingin ko po they are still working on the 14.04.4 release
and final iterate nang ubuntu will end by 2019

sa Eskwela OS po as long as mag

sudo apt-get update at sudo apt-get upgrade

makukuha mo ang full upgrades and updates until 2019

Filipino-made Linux Distribution: Eskwela OS (Introduction & Links)

Tutorial:
How to Install Multiple ISOs to one USB Flash Drive
(using Windows)

This will help in installing Eskwela OS as a live USB. :)

Requirements:
1. A USB Flash Disk (drive capacity varies depending on the size of ISO/s you are going to install).
2. Pre-downloaded ISO of Eskwela OS (or any linux distribution, even a Windows ISO)
3. A working PC with Windows installed.

How to:
1. Download YUMI from PenDriveLinux.
2. Run the .exe file you have just downloaded.
3. On the dialog box that follows click Run. (It needs some Administrator Priviledges)
4. A license agreement appears. Click I Agree.
5. Plug-in the USB Flash Drive. (Make sure you have backed up all the important files here because it will be formatted.)
6. On Step 1, select the Drive Letter of your flash disk. (For example F:)
7. On Step 2, select Xubuntu or Try Unlisted ISO (Grub) as the Distribution you want to put into the flash drive.
8. On Step 3, find the folder where you placed the downloaded Eskwela ISO.
9. Then click the Create button on the bottom right of the YUMI Window.
10. You can read the contents of the next dialog box that appears, then click YES.

After its done, you can add more ISOs into your flash drive.
Just be conscious of the total size of the ISOs you placed into your USB drive.

Hope this helps. :)
