Eskwela OS is a lightweight Linux operating system. It uses XFCE, a lightweight window manager, to make older computers work faster and more efficient. It can also refresh new and powerful systems as well. The word eskwela is a Filipino word that means school. Thus with this operating system, we give you the freedom to explore the world and learn from it.

Goal:
It specifically aimed to be installed on lower-end computers for general and educational purposes.

Good morning sir, ngayon ko lang nakita yung gawa mo na Eskwela OS.
Maganda sya at kahit luma na computer pwede doon gamitin astig.
Mukhang user friendly nman ata yung OS mo sa nakikita ko sa picture.
Try ko install sa old laptop ko at feedback n lang ako kung ano experience ko sir.

Suggest ko lang din sir kung gagawa kayo ng bago nyong OS project, yung tema na madaling gamitin at kilala ng mga gagamit.
Gaya na lang ng Windows OS sir, Win8 or Win10 kasi yan ang kilala ng nakakarami at madaling gamitin na OS.
So yung Environment tulad ng Win8/Win10, at may browser na google chrome, download manager (IDM), at utorrent.
Kadalasan yan gamit ng mga heavy user hehehe.

Ngayon sir gamit ko kasi ay KALI Linux, pero saa dinami dami ng nakalagay na apps hindi ko nman alam gamitin.
Request ko lang din sir kung ppwede lagay nyo na rin yung application ng wifite at linset sa bago nyong OS Project,
pero may restriction at nakatago para doon sa mga user na gagamit ng apps na yan sir.

At yung pre installed mo sir sa eskela os sama mo na rin doon,
at kung meron din na apps center ng linux apps mas maganda para direct download na lang din.
Yun lang suggest ko sir dami ba. thank you

Try nyo po edownload ang direct download po sir. Wala pa masyadong seeds ang torrent. Pero if torrent na man po ang gagamiton nyo, pasensya na po at mabagal pa siguro and if macomplete download mo sir pwede pakiseed na lang po.

Suggest ko lang din sir kung gagawa kayo ng bago nyong OS project, yung tema na madaling gamitin at kilala ng mga gagamit.
Gaya na lang ng Windows OS sir, Win8 or Win10 kasi yan ang kilala ng nakakarami at madaling gamitin na OS.

Noted po. Pero ano po mas gusto nyo po yung may google chrome, download manager at torrent client po out of the box?

Sa Eskwela OS po sir may Ubuntu Software Center po. Pero parang may mas maganda na parang "Apps Center" na bago lang. Try ko po e-integrate sa upcoming project po. Salamat. Hindi yan naman yan marami sir. oks lang.

actually may ppinoy based OS dati, lorma linux at yung DOST-backed Bayanihan (ewan ko lang kung narinig nyo mga yun) kaso eventaully folded due to lack of support at user base siguro.
suggestion ko kung ok lang:
1. livecd installable;
2. out of the box flash and/or codec audio/video support;
3. and siguro keep it up to date. same repo ba ng *buntu (LTS) kukuha ng updates/applications or may sariling repo?

To address your suggestions:

1. Live CD po gagawin ko which can be installed to harddrive (through Ubiquity installer)
2. If Google Chrome is already installed, you have flash out-of-the-box. If VLC is installed, audio and video codecs will be installed with it.
3. Updates will be streamed from the main Ubuntu LTS repositories para up-to-date ang security and updates sa distribution. Parang yung ginagawa nang elementary na they get the updates from the Ubuntu LTS repos.

Sana po when I release the alpha iso may magtest po.

actually may ppinoy based OS dati, lorma linux at yung DOST-backed Bayanihan (ewan ko lang kung narinig nyo mga yun) kaso eventaully folded due to lack of support at user base siguro.

Mayroon nga akong narinig about the DOST-backed linux distribution pero wala sigurong technical support o di kaya wala talaga sigurong gustong gumamit. Mayroon ding Kahel OS but its based on Arch, which is bleeding edge sa software but not that "user-friendly."

Update:
I am building it from the Alternate install of the Ubuntu Remix so that we can save as much space we can for the application/s. So that the ISO file will not be huge.

Suggestions po sa Desktop Environment?
I am thinking of using xfce4 (or xfce4.12 - yung latest).

forgot about chromium and VLC. hehe. mostly firefox user kasi ako because of plugins. and sa vlc as audio/video player.^_^

may technical team na magaling din at custom repo site kaso hindi lang ganun kapopular before at geared towards government agencies(knowing government agencies.hehehe).
nagkaproblema ata dun sa kahel before.not sure..hindi naman nakakatakot ang arch, medyo matrabaho lang minsan.hehehe.

Suggestions po sa Desktop Environment?

i used to be a fan of eyecandy(compiz) and KDE kaso napakalaki ang impact sa performance. siguro lightweight DE na lang like xfce, LDE or enlightenment.

dagdag ko pala, documentation like install procedure, dualboot, vmware install, partitioning, etc.

Thank you sir sa update. sa totoo lang hindi pa ako ganoon ka bihasa sa linux/ubuntu, nag aaral pa lang ako sa OS na ito. kaya hindi ko alam kung ano yung "OUT OF THE BOX" but i'm trying to study the environment of this OS.

OUT OF THE BOX meaning po pagka install pwede ka na magplay ng mga movies/mp3 at may flash plugin na kaagad. kung familiar kayo sa ubuntu at linux mint, ang ubuntu kelangan magconnect sa internet para makapagdownload ng codecs para makapagplay ng mga video. sa linux mint alam ko pwede ka n agad magplay ng mga videos.

Yung out-of-the-box sir ibig sabihin ay gumagana na ang software in live mode or when installed sa system.
Halimbawa po:
VLC works out-of-the-box, means VLC is already installed with the operating system. Hindi mo na kailangang magdownload nang VLC at iinstall mo pa.

To address the itemized suggestions, heto po
1. Aim ko po na installable po ang system pra pwede siya as live media or pwede ring iinstall sa harddisk.
2. The ubuntu installer will detect whatever operating system is already installed, and then pwede siyang magboot from one operating system to another.
3. VMWare, dito po ako nagkakaproblema. Ang gamit kong testing pc ay mayroon lang 1GB na RAM. So hindi ko po talaga ako makatest on my pc. But sa workplace ko may installed VirtualBox ako. Doon ako nag test nang mga testing ISO. Sana pwede rin po ako ninyong tulungan sa testing in a virtual environment.
4. Gawa po ako nang Documentation pagkatapos po mag compile nang iso.

I used Alternate Ubuntu Remix to use as base. I made a base ISO which is only 450MB.
However, I had problems with booting the ISO. Maybe I was not able to install grub.

I may use another software to make the the iso bootable or

I may go to another route, I will use an existing LTS distribution and remove its components part-by-part para to make sure it will be bootable and installable.

Hope mayroon pang feedbacks pra magawa ko ang gusto nating distribution.

Marami na po ang bibigyan ko nang credits sa Ubuntu distro natin.

yup...fully customizable po yung panel pati highlights po...kasali logo..kung ayaw nyo po nang logo..hehehe pwede nyo po palitan.

sige po submit kayo nang wallpaper...2 wallpapers lang nilagay ko sa 64bit edition... dagdagan nyo na lang po pagkatapos niyong maginstall.
