#DankeDirk | Nowitzki breaks down in tears at his final international game

German star Dirk Nowitzki bid an emotional farewell to his international career after he saw his team eliminated in the 2015 FIBA EuroBasket on Thursday in Berlin, Germany.

Germany lost narrowly to Spain, 77-76, to crash out of the group stages. It was likely the final game of the 37-year-old Nowitzki for his home country Germany after coming out of a four-year layoff from national team duty.

After the game, Nowitzki broke down in tears as he received a standing ovation from German fans who held signs “Danke Dirk,” or “Thank you Dirk.”

The 7’0″ Nowitzki, known for his prolific shooting given his size, started playing for the German national team in 1997. He decided to take a break from the international game in 2011, but announced his return in this year’s EuroBasket upon learning that his own country was chosen to host the Olympic qualifier.

Unfortunately, the Dallas Mavericks star fell short of bringing his team to another Olympic stint. Germany only managed to come up with a 1-3 record in its group, and lost to the do-or-die game against Spain that featured fellow NBA players Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic.

Wag masyadong ma-excite baka biglang mabati eh magkalat pa yan
