Globe Connection is only 2G using non-Globe Pocket Wifi or USB Broadband St

Have you experienced this?

Just discovered that when I use any non-Globe brand of Pocket WIFI and USB Broadband Stick, Globe will only limit me to 2G connection. When I use Globe branded equipment, it will connect me with 3G. I am suspecting Globe would know the brand equipment via the IMEI of the device. If so, can someone point me to a free IMEI changer? What I see in Google are paid versions.
