Round 1189 translation


Chapter 1189: A Murderous Storm

Guevara is trying to run away, but he’s freaking out because Ippo is able to throw his big punches from seemingly any position; wherever he runs Ippo always catches up to him in an instant. He can’t keep running, but he sure as hell can’t trade punches with him; even when he blocks with both arms his nose bleeds. Ippo busts out the New Dempsey Roll and he disappears from Guevara’s vision. Guevara searches for Ippo and sees a pair of uppercuts blast through the space in front of his face, just barely missing. Ippo gets into motion for the next punch, throwing a right uppercut that also wiffs. Guevara can tell from the wind pressure alone how powerful these missed punches would be if they landed. Ippo returns fire with a left hook, again getting nothing but air. Aoki cheers him on, yelling “HIT ‘IM, IPPO!” Itagaki says, “He can’t hit him, there’s something getting in his way.”

Note about the author:?There was originally an 18-page chapter planned, but Morikawa’s condition hasn’t gotten better

things worthy of mentioning -
they "fixed" the chapter titles after like a month and a half (this is titled ch.1189 lol)
indeed ippo cant close in properly and hits air in the previous chapter because of the southpaw stance of guevara, or rather his feet?
yet another cliffhanger with ippo about to punch guevara like the last 7 chapters
no chapter next week

binigyan niya ng perfected version ng Dempsey Roll si Ippo pero di pa rin siya bumibitaw dun sa angle niyang "broken" at weaker na si Ippo. di kaya maging malungkot ang ending nito? baka matapos ang HnI na retired na si Ippo dahil sa brain damage niya habang yung mga kasabayan niyang sila Sendoh et al. eh namamayagpag ang boxing careers haha

Pero baka pakagat lang ni mori yan dahil fixated pa rin sa new dempsey si ippo. Malamang isasabay ni mori new dempsey sa chapter 1,200

masyado lang sya nagmamadali na ipakita sa coach niya ung new demsey imbis na focus eh manalo mas focus sya ipakita pa ung new demsey
di din naman kasi logic fighter si ippo kung ano lang iutos o parang main target niya aun lang talaga at ang new demsey yun

at sa ganyang regard ako nairita kay Ippo habang nagbabasa ako nung latest chapters nung isang araw

masyado siyang fixated sa pagpapakita ng bagong DR pero di niya nari-realize na dahil dun mas lalo lang siyang tumatanggap ng damage. kahit sabihin nating 100% na di nga siya punch drunk, pero sa pinaggagawa niya, dagdag niyo pa yung accumulated head damage na natanggap niya from his previous fights, eh di na talaga ako magtataka kung nagsisimula na ring mag-start yung effects ng punch-drunkness haha

pwede namang ipakita ni Ippo yung pagpapasalamat niya kay Coach by simply winning his return fight in a proper way. kaso yun nga, wala yata sa dictionary ni Ippo ang salitang "logic" lol

Good job getting the script. That's always the most important bit, so thank you. Though, in this specific chapter, one or two more pics are kinda needed for context. No clue who Nekota is calling a coward, or why, or in what capacity. Though, it's quite possible that the raws wouldn't tell, either. Such is weekly manga.?

"1200: Sudden Death

Guevara keeps Ippo out of close range with right jabs.
"Please watch me Coach" for the 7.08^10x400,000th time.
Guevara gets smacked in the face, goes down. Gets up.
Takamura says something nebulous and uninteresting about taking responsibility.
For some insane reason, we get the audience discussing the meaning of the English phrase "sudden death" and restating the obvious circumstances of the match for what I'm guessing is like 3 pages.
We eventually gravitate back to the fight, only to be cut off by the audience taking control of the narrative again, screaming "Makunouchi" over and over, and the announcer(s) commenting on that.
"Has the Wind God returned?!!??!?!?"
Coach forgets what he was thinking/doing, says that he'll "see it through", and cheers on Ippo.
Guevara gets smacked in the stomach, but won't retreat because that's what Ippo wants.
And then the last page is just Guevara in the corner, realizing that he's in trouble, and Ippo (presumably) closing in on him. "

"How I think the manga is going to end.

As Ippo is recovering from this fight, Kamogawa falls into a deathly state. After Ippo is cleared to go, he goes to the tree where he practiced how to jab and reflects upon his idiocy and lack of attitude. When it appears he finally understands everything and becomes more resolute, Takamura appears out of nowhere from behind the tree.

Takamura begins to berate him for causing Kamogawa's illness, not understanding his advice (especially the part about keeping boxing professionally), not having enough drive to go for the win, not crossing the line, etc. After Ippo is on the verge of tears, Takamura says, "Ippo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a boxer, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do. I don't want to see you at the gym, I don't want you near my house. When you see the Old Man, I want to know a day in advance, so I won't be there. You understand?" Immediately after, Takamura tells Aoki & Kimura, "I don't want anything to happen to him while the Old Man is alive."

Kamogawa eventually passes away and, at Itagaki's request, Takamura apparently makes peace with Ippo, but as they are embracing he gives a commanding stare to both Aoki and Kimura.

Some days later, the gym crew decides to go on a fishing trip to remember Kamogawa. Takamura, however, tells Itagaki to come with him as they have to train for the next card they are sharing. As Ippo is casting his line and praying for Kamogawa, Aoki and Kimura shoot him in the back of his head while Takamura watches everything from the gym's rooftop."
