Upgrading Huawei Honor U8860 to Ice Cream Sandwich

- Download ICS 4.0.3 ->http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDExNTI=
- Extract the file
- Make a “dload” directory on SD card root directory
- Copy the "UPDATE.APP” and "UPDATE_CUST.APP" to "dload" folder on SD card.
- Open settings / application then turn off/unthick "fast boot" and power of you device
- Long press volume up + volume down + power button on the handset to startup you device in upgrade mode.
- It will reboot few times.
- Delete "dload" forlder on sdcard

Root access ICS 4.0.3

Download recovery image at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=952139&d=1332022001
Download su-3.0.3.2-signed.zip at http://www.mediafire.com/?burku15l62eb4te
copy su-3.0.3.2-signed.zip to the root of sdcard
Delete "dload" folder on sdcard
Open settings / application then turn off/unthick "fast boot"
Unplug any usb connection and turn the phone completely off
Holding both the volume up + volume down + power button to startup you device. Let go when you see a pink/purple screen.
Attach the usb cable to your computer and wait until a few usb mass storage devices are detected and mounted.
Look for one that has just one directory called "image" in it. Navigate into this directory and you'll see "recovery.img" etc.
Rename "recovery.img" to "recovery.org"
copy "recovery-v8.img" to image folder and rename to "recovery.img", unmount the mass storage device (safely remove in windows) and then pull the battery out to turn the phone off
Long press volume up + power button on the handset to startup you device in recovery mode

Select “choose zip from SD card”
Find and select "su-3.0.3.2-signed.zip"
Select "++Go Back++"
Select "reboot system now"

Add google apps to ICS 4.0.3

Download gapps-ics-20120215-signed.zip at http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120215-signed.zip and copy to sdcard
Unplug any usb connection and turn the phone completely off
Long press volume up + power button on the handset to startup you device in recovery mode

Select “Install zip from sdcard”
Select “choose zip from SD card”
Find and select "gapps-ics-20120215-signed.zip"
Select "++Go Back++"
Select "reboot system now"

Optional if google apps do not display in app drawer

On dial pad type ( *147258369# ) select "Display GMS apps" and "Ok"
Reboot phone

Enjoy your Huawei Honor U8860 with Ice Cream Sandwich ROM....

Additional Information

Stock ROMs (& leaked stock ROMs)

Stock ROMs (or leaked stock ROMs) can be flashed like this:

1. Download and unpack onto your micro-SD Card like that: /mnt/sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP (some ROMs also have UPDATE_CUST.APP, don't leave it out)
2. Turn off Fast-Boot, and shutdown your phone. If you don't know how to turn off Fast-Boot, pull the battery (it can be found in different places in different ROMs)
3. Press and hold volume-up, volume-down and power-button at the same time.
4. If everything above was done correctly, you should be able to watch your phone upgrading now.

Alternative: Some ROMs have an option in the settings that lets you start the upgrade-procedure without step 2.) and 3.) from above. If you can find it, you can use that one.

There is a newer "stock" ROM than what you'll find above, that has been leaked from Huawei Russia that has improved camera performance (and an HDR-mode) but there exist some reviews that it is quite buggy, but also other reports that it works fine. I have not tried it myself.

Custom ROMs

To flash custom ROMs:

1. download their .zip file and put it somewhere on your sd-card
2. boot into your custom recovery: turn off phone completly, then Long press volume up + power button (for installation of custom recovery see top of post)
3. factory reset / wipe everything (not always necessary, but to be on the save side. ROM will not work in some cases if you don't wipe first)
4. flash update zip -> choose zip from sd card.

Ty sa reply TS, question po is it better to root if you upgrade first o ok naka root tapos upgrade, a lot of thread are saying po na pag na root na d na daw gagana upgrade or na bribrick advice po thanks po...

If Official ROM ang upgrade ofcourse lagi yung unrooted.... So kahit rooted na phone mo ngayon then maguupgrade ka for example from 2.3.6 to ICS... eh unrooted pa din kakalabasan ng phone by default...

Unless kung ang gagamitin mo eh yung mga custom ROM.. for sure kahit ilang beses ka pa mag flash eh rooted yun... (depende sa features ng custom rom ha)

Rooting won't brick your phone...

Hmmm galing ako Memo Express Megamall kanina, 15k+ na sya. Pero 12 months 0% pwede so mga 1300+ a month.

gs2 ko kasi mag miui e.

saka pala baka may kakilala kayo gs2 bumili
iniisip ko na magpalit sa dual core kahit ok ako sa performance nito.
benta ko to 12k lng hehe. unit charger.
